There's been a lot of back and forth as to what exactly fans can look forward to seeing in the infamous forthcoming Zack Snyder's Justice League miniseries, but Harry Lennix has cleared up one detail to Collider with the revelation he will indeed appear as the extraterrestrial superhero Martian Manhunter. Lennix confirmed that when he was first cast in the debut DC Extended Universe project, Man of Steel, as General Swanwick, he did not know he would continue the role past one film, let alone the character's real identity and that though he learned of the real plans with Justice League, he still didn't get a chance to read the script as "they were still being developed and they keep all of that under lock and key." Given his schedule conflicts with his role on NBC's The Blacklist, he never properly filmed his scenes as Manhunter, but once Warner Bros. greenlit the extra shooting for the new miniseries cut of the project, Lennix confirmed he has shot the necessary footage for the role. Zack Snyder's Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director's original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut. Fueled by the hero's restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

Each one, different in personality traits, yet carrying one similarity that is quite inescapable: the acting prowess of Harry Lennix. On this special episode of The Blacklist Exposed, Troy and Aaron sit down with Harry Lennix to discuss much more than simply The Blacklist. For an actor with such a storied career, we wanted to learn as much as we could about the only man who dares go toe-to-toe with Red Reddington. From Lennix’s humble beginning in Chicago, IL, to how his brother almost accidentally inspired Harry’s acting ambitions, to his initial aspirations with the church. Then we segue to Lennix’s lauded career, 30+ years of work with filmmakers including Spike Lee and Zack Snyder (with even more details on that Justice League news), his love of musicals and Shakespeare, before ultimately tackling the role many of us love him more, Harold Cooper. PLUS Harry has also created a new organization in the African American Museum for Performing Arts (AAMPA) which exists digitally today and soon will have a permanent home on the south side of Chicago. Unstoppable! is one way to describe actor Harry Lennix, a native Chicagoan by way of the South Shore neighborhood. He is A-List Hollywood actor who currently is in not just one but two hit TV series in 2020 and is not stopping anytime soon. Lennix can be seen in roles in the TV series "The Black List " and "Billions" (airs via Netflix, NBC, and Showtime). Plus the upcoming Netflix series, “Army of the Dead" by Zack Snyder. In December 2020, Rashanah caught up with Lennix about his new film and creation of the African-American Museum of Performing Arts (AAMPA) in Chicago. "Troubled Waters" is the latest project he stars in, airing Thursday, December 10, on BET Plus. Lennix stars as Ron Waters, a troubled comedian making a comeback to re-establish his career. Impressive is just an understatement when asked about being busy consistently during the pandemic with back to back series and on-going projects. “Acting is a form of meditation and prayer,” Lennix adds. Lennix shows up for his hometown Chicago with the launch and creation of a two-story complex African American Museum of the Arts in the historic Bronzeville community. Lennix and his partners acquired the building located at 4343 South Cottage Grove Ave. The project is a recipient of a loan by the Chicago Community Loan Fund: Fifth Third Bank in 2019. According to Lennix, the African-American Museum of Performing Arts (AAMPA) will celebrate Black contributions to the performing arts, including dance to film to music to theater and shine a light on the much-needed Southside Chicago. Lennix notes that positive images and celebration of Blacks' contributions to the arts need to be shown in our communities and taught. The museum will be an archive of the collective history of the great works and experiences of the African Diaspora. Additionally, the building will be equipped with a theatre space for companies to utilize and showcase their work. Lennix is hoping doors to open in the late Fall of 2021. A local theater in Lincoln Square, The Davis Theater, saw TV & Film stars converge to gaze at their work in a TV Pilot, Conrad.  This TV Pilot is not yet picked up by a network but the fact that the evening was even happening is a story all on its own.  See most TV Pilots are green lit by major studios or development houses.  Conrad however was crafted from just a 2 page demo reel script written by one of the shows co-creators Ryan Atkins.   Applying to play the part of the female detective in this two page script Jennifer Karum asked if she could take this 2 page concept home to turn it into the Conrad story presented before us today.  Jennifer and Ryan have leveraged their connections, finances and sure will to get Conrad created, shot and now at a place where it was ready to be shown to the public at the Chicago premiere screening.   Conrad stars Eric Roberts playing the father Michael Conrad, a Police Chief in his own precinct. Jennifer Karum as Katy Conrad, an aspiring police worker looking to make detective. The Blacklist's Harry Lennix as Detective Don Brewer and Hisham Tawfiq playing Officer Dan Nack. Produced and Directed by Kelly Tidmore, Conrad revolves around dark themes like human trafficking and what it takes to truly find out out the truth.  In this special episode your very own Aaron Peterson sits down with Ryan, Jennifer, Eric, Harry, and Hisham to dish all things Conrad as well as some life lessons from Eric, Acting History from Harry, and the one thing Hisham wishes he could tell Blacklist fans.  After the interviews if you stick around, we have the full Q&A panel from after the screening of the pilot.  Be sure to let us know what you thought of this special episode and Let us know if you are interested in seeing Conrad? Visit our feedback page to leave a response or call +1 (304) 837-2278. The Music of Conrad We always feature the music on The Blacklist so staying true to form you can hear some amazing tracks in the Conrad Series.  Rob "Diggy" Morrison gives us 10 pulse driving tracks on the official soundtrack for the pilot.  Keaton Simons rounds out the album with an 11th track titled "Lift Me Up" providing a little bit of soul funk to break up the darker tone of the rest of the album.  You can't hear the Conrad Songs yet on a streaming service but you can always hear Keaton Simons on Spotify as well as the playlist for The Blacklist or the same playlist recreated by us on Apple Music.  Keep Connected Each week of The Blacklist Exposed will take a deep look at both the minor and major plot lines to this fantastic series. You may be quite aware that launching a successful career as a movie actor is a difficult challenge. But rare is the soul who manages to do so twice. Such is the case with Kirk Taylor, whose career as a supporting actor working for the likes of Stanley Kubrick and Spike Lee in the 1980s eventually lead to a successful second career as an acting coach, musician and composer. Now, with his upcoming appearance as the apostle Simon Peter in the feature film musical “Revival!,” Taylor has found his own “second act” as a film performer, and couldn’t be more thrilled to see what the next chapter brings. Meet our Feature Guest “Every time I have thought I would give up acting, and move on to something else I love, some opportunity would come up and lure me back in,” says Taylor, reflecting on his now three-plus decades as a professional. “There was a time a few years back when it felt like the right time to move on,” he recalls. “I talked and prayed with my wife about it, and decided to leave acting, and literally two minutes after our conversation, the phone rang, and my agent told me I had landed a role.” That role turned out to be for “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,” one of the last films to star the late Robin Williams, and reunited Taylor with director Phil Alden Robinson, who had previously cast him in “The Sum of All Fears” (with Ben Affleck) and “Freedom Song” (with Danny Glover). In a similar way, the part of Simon Peter (called “Cephas”) in “Revival” found Kirk Taylor (rather than vice-versa). “My wife was a script supervisor on the project, and a friend was producing it, and they recommended me to Harry Lennix, the executive producer.” Taylor was again a bit reticent to dive back into acting – he’d been working steadily as a respected acting teacher for a while – so he was surprised when Lennix offered him the part. “It’s one of the best parts in the film,” Taylor enthuses. A musical retelling of the Gospel according to John, is the passion project of Lennix (“The Blacklist”), co-directed by Danny Green (“Troubled Waters”) and Obba Babatunde (“Miss Evers’ Boys.”) with music written by gospel music star and three-time Grammy nominee Mali Music. Taylor will co-star with an all-star cast that includes Lennix, Chaka Khan, Michelle Williams, T’Keyah Crystal Keymah, Dawnn Lewis, and others. The role seems like one well-suited for Kirk Taylor, who has balanced his spiritual and professional lives for many years. A graduate of NYU, Taylor cut his teeth studying with the great generation of method acting teachers, including Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler, before making his first uncredited screen appearance as a waiter in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Cotton Club.” While on the set, Taylor was inspired to suggest a bit of business involving bringing a bottle of champagne to Dutch Schultz (played by James Remar). Failing to get the approval of the assistant directors, he took advantage of seeing director Coppola on his own to boldly offer the bit for the scene and some improvised dialogue. Coppola loved the idea and put the scene in the film. For a while, Taylor was sky-high – until he saw the film, and realized that because his scene wasn’t scripted, his name was not included in the credits. “I was crushed! I literally cried in the back of the theater, then walked into the lobby wondering if this career was a big mistake,” he says. “Then two girls walked up to me and said ‘hey, aren’t you the guy who played the waiter?’” His faith in himself restored, Taylor knew he was in the right place. “I call that a ‘God wink,’” Taylor says, regarding other times in his career when he was down and felt comfort from unexpected places. It happened again after he appeared as a cop in the Sundance drama “MacArthur Park” in 2001. Immersing himself in the supporting role by spending time with both police officers and drug addicts, he was again chagrined to discover at a screening that his name had been left out of the credits (an error on... At the moment, Harry Lennix is perhaps best known for his portrayal of FBI agent Harold Cooper on NBC's “The Blacklist.” The breadth and depth of his work on the stage and screen go well beyond that hit show, however, with film roles spanning from Robert Townsend's “The Five Heartbeats” and Julie Taymor's “Titus,” to General Swanwick in both “Man of Steel” and “Batman vs. Superman,” and on Broadway in August Wilson's final play “Radio Golf," and “Cymbeline” at The Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2014 Lennix created Exponent Media Group and began producing his own content such as “H4,” a fresh interpretation of Shakespeare's “Henry IV” featuring an all black cast filmed onstage and in the streets of South Central LA, and the ambitious “Revival!,” an epic musical re-imagining of the Gospel of John. In this episode, Harry generously shares his vast knowledge of the classic foundations of the acting craft while skillfully placing a few perfect sports metaphors, but if you're here just to listen to his beautiful voice, I understand.
