What's up, dudes? Today we're talking about the present Santa brought me for Christmas 1985. Yes, it's the Defender of the Universe itself: Voltron! Joining to dig into these Christmas wishbooks is my buddy Lucas Hinojosa and DJ Chad Sheppard! We dig into the history and awesomeness that is the mighty robot! It's a Voltron Christmas! From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend, the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe. A mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil. As Voltron's legend grew, peace settled across the galaxy. On planet Earth, a galaxy alliance was formed. Together with the good planets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe. Until a new horrible menace threatened the galaxy. Voltron was needed once more. This is the story of the super force of space explorers, specially trained, and sent by the alliance, to bring back Voltron: Defender of the Universe. The series was primarily edited from Beast King GoLion (Hyakujū-ō Goraion), and it features a team of five young space explorers commanding five robot lions which can be combined to form Voltron. In this undefined future era, the Voltron Force is in charge of protecting the planet Arus, ruled by Princess Allura, from the evil King Zarkon of planet Doom, his son Lotor, and the witch Haggar. Each episode huge killer "ro-beasts" terrorize the people of Arus. In the decades that followed, companies produced Christmas tie-in merchandise, such as ornaments, sweaters, and stockings as well.Lion robots? Check. Flaming swords? For sure. Edited and sanitized original anime for American audiences? I'm looking at you, Sven! So grab your key, hop in your lion, and form your mighty robot to this episode on Voltron Christmas! Give us a buzz! Send a text, dudes!Check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! Later, dudes!

Welcome back for an all new episode of Totally Radical Cartoon Podcast. This week, Randy looks at an episode of Voltron.Zarkon blames Lotor for Voltron's continued victories, and commands that he himself, not a robot, take down the Voltron Force. He has Haggar create a stronger and equally-wise duplicate of himself instead, which he sends to Arus. When a Robeast's forcefield disables both the castle's and the Lions' power, Keith swims out to set up a mine to disable it. The clone arrives to fight him with surprising skill. The others hurry to prepare the limited technology they have for him to return, but don't know that he is locked in single combat in which he will have to win before returning to form Voltron, the only thing that will ruin the machine.

Here is a summary of that episode and some screenshots: Haggar tries to send a baby Ro-beast after Queen Merla, but Merla's pet buzzard catches it. Haggar apologizes, and offers to help Merla conquer Arus. Meanwhile, on Arus, there is a parade taking place honoring the planet's leaders. Merla's forces attack. Keith and Allura try to get the villagers to safety, while Lance, Hunk, and Pidge race to get to their lions. In protecting the villagers, Lance, Hunk, and Pidge get zapped with a freeze ray, and their lions are sent over a cliff, and to the bottom of a canyon. After getting the villagers to the castle, Haggar makes her baby Ro-beast turn into a full sized one, and sicks it on the castle. With the other three frozen, Keith and Allura have to face the monster by themselves. At the end, all of the Voltron Force has statues made of them by the kids they had saved earlier in the episode, and King Alfor's ghost shows his approval of Keith. As Always, Thanks for Listening! Also, for our Retro Voltron segment, Greg details 2 episodes that relate to Battle Scars, 1 from Voltron: Defender of the Universe Lion Force, called Pidge's Home Planet, and 1 from Vehicle Force called Great Stone Space Faces. In Battle Scars, while floating through the universe searching for signs of a Robeast, the Paladins head toward Olkarion and realize they aren't alone on their journey. Here are some of our favorite screenshots from Battle Scars: And from our Retro Voltron Segment, here is the synopsis from Pidge's Home Planet: Princess Allura is preparing for her coronation as the rest of the Voltron Force looks on. After Nanny insults them, the guys decide to check the monitor to see if there is any trouble. They discover that Pidge's home planet, Balto, is under attack by Zarkon's forces. Pidge said that his family was moving to a new planet, but he is not sure if they made it out in time. Keith, Lance, Pidge, and Hunk decide to head for Balto, but are cut off by the castle guards. Coran tells them that they must stay and protect planet Arus. He tries to place them under house arrest, but the Space Explorers quickly subdue the guards and head for Balto. Once there, they are confronted by Lotor and a new Ro-Beast. Back on Arus, Allura receives a telepathic distress message from Keith. She must now decide whether to stay and protect her planet, or to go and help her friends. Here is a screenshot from Pidge's Home Planet: Also from the Retro Voltron segment, here is the synopsis of Great Stone Space Faces: The Voltron Force discovers signs of an ancient civilization on planet Neb. However, the planet is unstable and Nerok is right behind them, ready for an ambush. Hazar meets with his father, Chancellor Mozak, to consider the fate of the Drule Empire. K-Lionheart returns to the podcast with Marc and Greg to review 3 episodes from Season 6 of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix: Episode 2: Razor's Edge, Episode 3: Monsters & Mana, and Episode 4: The Colony. K-Lionheart had previously appeared on Let's Voltron Podcast as the Voltron Fan Artist Spotlight and had designed "Dungeons and Voltron", a very special mashup of Dungeons & Dragons and Voltron Legendary Defender. Take a look at the poster: Yesterday, it was announced that LEGO Ideas Voltron 21311 Set will be available to buy on August 1, 2018! We had LEGO Ideas Designer Lendy Tayag on our podcast to talk all about when his design hit 10,000 supporters (http://www.letsvoltron.com/58) and when his design had been approved to have the set go into production (http://www.letsvoltron.com/107) Here is a quote from LEGO Designer Niek Duco van Slagmaat, who's task it was to turn Lendy's design into an actual product that can be assembled using instructions provided in the set. Here's his quote: "Let’s go Voltron Force! I cannot put into words how much this model means to me. When it hit 10k votes, I started working on models to try and prove that we could do something like this. Now, almost 2 years later, it’s really happening! I have Samuel Johnson to thank for fighting to allow me to work on this project and Lendy for getting it to 10k with his awesome model. From the very beginning, the consensus was that we could not make this as a LEGO product, so it was my job to prove people wrong. To kick reason to the curb and do the impossible! By not giving up and continuing to smash our heads into the wall, we made it possible. Crucial points in a mech this size are the joints. Most of the development time on this product was relentlessly churning out shoulder and elbow joints just to have them be rejected for any number of reasons by our rigorous quality department. I went through at least 30 different shoulder builds and about 20 full iterations of Voltron in designing this model. As a fan-builder myself, I was eager to get some good recolors into this set for people that like to build their own stuff, like the ingot and a whole host of drum lacquered pieces! This set also features a number of decorations, my favorite being the 2x2 grey tile with mechanical detail. This was designed to be a perfect fit, but also a good element to be used in your own creations as a finishing touch. Graphic designer Mark Tranter did a fantastic job. I really hope you will enjoy building this model, I poured my heart and soul into making this a reality!" Here are the details about this wonderful new LEGO Ideas 21311 Voltron Set: Features 5 buildable and posable lions that can be transformed and combined to create the giant Voltron super robot. Play with the lions individually or combine them using extra-strong joints to form Voltron—the black lion forms the head and torso; the red and green lions form the arms; and the yellow and blue lions form the legs. Pose the head, shoulders, arms and wrists of Voltron (legs are not posable). Also includes a sword and shield (each with silver-colored elements) that attach firmly to Voltron’s hands. Includes a booklet with building instructions, plus information about the set’s fan creator and super force of LEGO® designers. This set includes over 2,321 pieces. Display or play out exciting stories from the original 1980s animated Voltron TV series and the modern DreamWorks Voltron: Legendary Defender series. Voltron measures over 15” (40cm) high, 5” (14cm) long and 8” (21cm) wide. Black lion measures over 6” (17cm) high, 8” (22cm) long and 5” (15cm) wide. Yellow and blue lions each measure over 3” (8cm) high, 8” (21cm) long and 3” (8cm) wide. Green and red lions each measure over 3” (8cm) high, 7” (18cm) long and 1” (5cm) wide. Voltron’s sword measures 11” (29cm) long. Voltron’s shield measures 6” (16cm) in diameter. LEGO Voltron will be available from shop.LEGO.com/Voltron and LEGO stores around the world from the 1st of August, 2018 for a recommended retail price of USD/EURO* 179.99 / GBP 159.99. If you're itching to get your copy of 21311 Voltron as soon as possible then we can reveal that this set will be available early for LEGO VIP members on the 23rd July, 2018! Marc and Greg are joined by special guest Lexi Hoffman to review Voltron Legendary Defender Season 4: Episode 3: Black Site. Lexi had previously filled in for Greg on our podcast with Jamie Gray Hyder (Zethrid), and gives another great perspective for reviewing this Season 4 episode. Lexi Hoffman is a World History Teacher and long-time Voltron fan from Colorado, inspiring new generations of Voltron fans. She appeared on the Jamie Gray Hyder podcast, so you can check that out here: https://letsvoltron.simplecast.fm/d2f9e3f4 You can follow Lexi on Twitter @redlion004 Today is release day for Voltron Legendary Defender Volume 2: Pilgrimage, the trade paperback for the second volume of the Voltron Legendary Defender comics series from Lion Forge Comics! (W) Tim Hedrick, Mitch Iverson (A) Jung Gwan, Rubine (CA) Mariko When the Voltron Paladins respond to a distress call, they discover a group of alien settlers on a mining planet under attack by the Galra. The five daring pilots must then escort the convoy of rescued settlers to their new home. To succeed they must cross into increasingly dangerous territory, successfully navigate among frightening predators and colossal beasts, and battle the evil Galra! The Trade Paperback should be available at your local comic shop. Here is an image of the cover and how you can pre-order it on the Voltron Store: https://store.voltron.com/products/voltron-legendary-defender-volume-2-pre-order-ships-2 The Voltron Store is having a Valentines Day special discount until February 14th! Save 14% by using the code LOVE14 at checkout! Of course, the big news is that we now know that Voltron Legendary Defender Season 5 is coming out on Netflix on March 2, 2018! This was presented to us by DreamWorks and Netflix through a number of images on the official Voltron accounts, as well as some of the voice actors' social media accounts. Here are some of those images: Also in this podcast, Lexi helps Marc and Greg review Black Site, the third episode from Season 4 of Voltron Legendary Defender. We really enjoyed seeing Matt meet the Voltron team, and then helping Hunk and Pidge develop a way to track Galra fleets throughout the galaxy. We especially liked seeing Lance show Coran and Allura how Kaltenecker helps them make really good milkshakes, and the severe reactions they had to witnessing it first hand. Of course, the main thrust of the episode was Lotor meeting with Zarkon, and Haggar finding out what Lotor was building, and Zarkon putting the "kill on site" APB to the Galra Empire. And we mourn the loss of Narti, who we had hoped to get to know better as time passed. Here are some screenshots from Black Site: As always, Thanks for Listening! Let's Voltron!!

Marc and Kim Morrell covered all the Voltron events at New York Comic Con 2017 (NYCC), including the Voltron Legendary Defender Pre-Panel with Mark Daniel, the Panel, interviews with the cast and producers, Voltron on the LIVE stage, and the signings and Voltron fan meetup. There were also exhibit hall booths we visited, like Han Cholo, Lion Forge, and Simon & Schuster, as well as artists on the show floor and artist alley. In this podcast, we share it all with Greg, who wasn't able to go, and all the Voltron fans around the world that couldn't make it to NYCC. There is a lot to cover at New York Comic Con, especially when it comes to Voltron Legendary Defender, the greatest show on Netflix, and any device anywhere! And it all started with the Voltron Legendary Defender Cast and Crew Autograph Signings at Table 21 of the Autograph Hall on Friday, Oct 6, 2017. This wonderful lithograph designed by Lauren Montgomery was signed for every Voltron Fan in line. Here's what we had signed, and some of those pictures: On Saturday, Voltron Fans lined up to get into the panel early, and we saw some great cosplay in line. Here are some of those pics: Then, people were allowed to enter the Main Stage at NYCC, and take their seats for the 11 AM Voltron Legendary Defender Season 4 Panel. Mark Daniel was the Master of Ceremonies for the Pre-Panel Show and he was absolutely great with all the Voltron fans. He brought all the people up to the front who had cosplayed as Voltron characters, and they proceeded to do the first ever LIONWALK at NYCC. Then, he asked Let's Voltron Podcast Host Marc Morrell to come up on stage and they talked all about Season 4, Voltron Merch at NYCC and elsewhere, and they plugged the podcast. Both of them were wearing their Let's Voltron Podcast Five to Thrive Shirts, designed by Zilla (@beanyzilla). Big Thanks to Mark Daniel for all the Let's Voltron LOVE! Here are some pics from that Pre-Panel Show: We made a video of the Pre-Panel Show for people who weren't able to see that from the LIVE Collider YouTube stream from the panel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjGEB5IcOio Now, the panel did not disappoint Voltron fans, who were looking for glimpses into Season 4, as there were several clips from Season 4 played for the audience during the panel. Here are some of the pics from the panel: After the panel, we had interviews with the cast and producers of Voltron Legendary Defender. Those interviews are available on our YouTube Channel at: Cast (AJ LoCascio, Josh Keaton and Kimberly Brooks) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6YALGzYu4A Producers (Joaquim Dos Santos & Lauren Montgomery) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABlLw2w_lEk Here are some great pics from all around the exhibit hall floor, artist alley and more: We also had a chance to greet other great Voltron fans at the Voltron fan meetup at 4 PM on Saturday, which was a blast, and included a LOT of group cosplay photos, including these: We want to thank ALL of the Voltron fans that we met at NYCC. Your passion for this awesome franchise is OFF THE CHARTS! We also want to thank DreamWorks, Netflix, Universal, Mark Daniel, Han Cholo, Lion Forge, Simon & Schuster, Sideshow Collectibles, Alex Milne, Terry Huddleston, Naomi Romero, Elentori, Donya Abramo, Cheetoy, Mark Oliver, Seth Green, Clare Grant, Brandon Schoolhouse, Gian Norte, Josh Keaton, Kimberly Brooks, AJ LoCascio, Joaquim Dos Santos, Lauren Montgomery, Seth Fowler, Ryan Bradley, Emily Leibert, ReedPop Staff, BER, Warner Bros, Gary Miereanu, DC, Alan Tudyk, and many more people we can't remember at this moment. NYCC was awesome! We can't wait until next year, and the next time we get to gather with Voltron Fans! It's always a great time! We also talked about our TeePublic Store, where you can find a ton more Voltron designs, and TeePublic recently added pillows, totes and tapestries to their already long list of products that you can get Let's Voltron or Voltron designs on. Here is a link to that store: https://www.teepublic.com/user/letsvoltron?ref_id=5313&ref_type=aff Our next podcast will have special guests AJ LoCascio (Lotor) and Neil Kaplan (Zarkon) in a Father and Son Podcast for the AGES! Lotor vs Zarkon! Let's see if these two can get along and answer all the fan questions we asked you to send into us. There will be a random winner picked from all the entries, and that winner will receive the 2 signed lithographs we mentioned above. Good luck! As always, Thanks for Listening! Let's Voltron!!

Jamie Gray Hyder is best known by Voltron fans as Zethrid, one of Prince Lotor's Generals from Season 3 of Voltron Legendary Defender, but where this booming, scary voice comes from is a mystery to everyone who's ever worked in the booth with Jamie before. She has also played Lt. Salter in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and she's been seen on Graceland and True Blood. There will be lots of commentary around everything that happened during the panel, and we'll conclude with a few things that happened at WonderCon, other than the panel, and give you info on how to enter to win a signed lithograph from all 8 participants of the panel. During the Voltron Legendary Defender panel, each of the voice actors, Tyler Labine (Hunk), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge), Josh Keaton (Shiro), Kimberly Brooks (Allura), and Jeremy Shada (Lance), talked about their character's story arc and how it may have changed from Season 1 to Season 2, and all the panelists show clips from their favorite moments from Season 2. Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery (Executive Producers) announced that Season 3 is coming, but no specific date is set yet. There are two clips about Prince Lotor. The first is an April Fools joke played on the audience. The second is a clip that shows images of Galra forces, with an audio overlay of Prince Lotor talking. So, the audience was able to hear Lotor's voice, but we haven't seen the character, nor do we know who the voice actor is that plays him. The moderator announced several things that were coming up for Voltron Legendary Defender, including a mash-up collaboaration with online game, Puzzle and Dragons (available now), a Kids Meal Promotion with special Voltron Legendary Defender toys at Burger King (available now), Pidge's Birthday on April 3rd with a special Facebook LIVE Q&A with Bex Taylor-Klaus, the Voltron84 release of 12 hand-picked episodes of Voltron: Defender of the Universe on Netflix (available now), Sticker Packs for IOS (iPhone/iPad iMessage app), where you can send stickers to your friends through text messages, and a new mini-series of Voltron Legendary Defender Comics is coming from Lion Forge Comics on Wednesday, April 26th. There rest of the panel was a Q&A session for fans to ask questions, and for each person that asked a question, Head Writer Tim Hedrick gave out signed story cards used to develop the actual episodes from the show. Marc and Greg also talked about their Griffith Observatory visit, where Emily Eiden (voice of Shay) works, the Hollywood sign, and a dinner with podcast guest Shannon Muir, her husband Kevin, Dani DeWald and Shambhavi Kadam, Marc's wife Kim, and Greg and Marc.
