Archer Aviation (ACHR) reports earnings after the bell, which John Jannarone expects to be "speculative" due to its long path to profitability. The biggest concern on John's radar is FAA certification that keeps getting "kicked further and further out." Michael Boyd notes Archer's "exciting concept" but worries about the company's outlook. As Michael says, "no one's asking the hard questions" about aircraft demand.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
United Airlines (UAL) reports earnings after the bell today, and all eyes are on whether the airline can turn a profit despite industry headwinds. Spencer Hakimian says it all comes down to whether United hedged its oil and jet fuel costs effectively, while Michael Boyd is more optimistic, citing the airline's plans for international growth. But with Canadian and European travel to the U.S. down significantly, will domestic consumers be enough to prop up the industry?======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. The Martinsburg shop is run by a father and son team who are passionate about the craft of cutting and styling hair. However, traditions don't survive through the generations without people who care about passing them on. To pass along the business of barbering to his children, owner Austin Hale found that he needed more than just passion – he needed funding. That's when he turned to the West Virginia Small Business Development Center. “Austin wondered in one day… he was discouraged. He had been to several banks trying to get a loan to start this business,” SBDC Business Coach, Michael Boyd said. “We started from zero, created a business plan and did some financial projections and then we found a lender.” With the help of the WV SBDC Hale is able to continue barbing in his family, Hale said. “Because of the SBDC we are able to keep barbing in our family for a third generation with me and will hopefully continue on with a fourth generation with my kids.” Read more: https://wvsbdc.com/barber-shop-owner-opens-their-doors-with-the-support-of-the-west-virginia-sbdc/ #2 – From MTN STATE MUSIC – Hankering for some live music but not able to get out? Boeing has big problems. In January, an Alaskan Airlines flight made headlines after a door plug blew off because of faulty plugs during the flight, causing panic and major safety concerns. Following the incident, 33 of the 89 audits conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration failed, propelling Boeing back into the hot seat. A handful of recent in-flight incidents since then have raised general concerns about airline safety and put even more pressure on the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners. Aviation expert and President of Boyd Group International, Michael Boyd, joined host Dave Anthony this past week to discuss Boeing's recent issues and whether or not air travel is safe. Boyd explained what factors could be leading to some of the recent mechanical concerns and why he thinks the FAA needs to be doing more to ensure the safety of passengers. We made edits for time and thought you might like to hear more about Boeing's recent issues. On today's FOX News Rundown Extra, you'll hear our entire conversation with aviation expert Mike Boyd. Welcome to the daily304 – your window into Wonderful, Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Today is Friday, Oct. 6 A popular Harpers Ferry family resort expands, with guidance from the WV SBDC…Plan a leaf-peeping getaway to Babcock State Park…and Bluefield purchases two food trucks for graduates of the MyBluefield Entrepreneur course…on today's daily304. #1 – From WV SBDC – Only one hour from the DC and Baltimore Metro Regions, River Riders Family Adventure Resort in Harpers Ferry offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, from whitewater rafting to zip lining. More recent additions to the property include snow tubing. With up to 12 different tubing lanes, their snow tubing is fun for kids of all ages. River Riders' snow tubing hill is almost 3 football fields long, making it the longest tubing slope on the East Coast. But River Riders was not always a year round outdoor and recreational company. Owner Matt Knott worked with the West Virginia Small Business Development Center to make that happen. Knott started working as a raft guide for the company in '94, then bought the business in '98. He started working with WV SBDC in 2012. “I met Matt after I took over this account from my predecessor, Mary Hott,” said Michael Boyd, WV SBDC business coach. The WV SBDC helped River Riders apply for and take advantage of a tax credit program that made the expansion possible. Buy your snow tubing tickets today! Learn more about River Riders. Read more: https://wvsbdc.com/river-riders-year-round-activities-and-fun-with-help-of-long-standing-partnership-with-the-wv-sbdc/ #2 – From WV STATE PARKS – Plan your fall leaf-peeping getaway to Babcock State Park. Autumn brings an added beauty to the region, and the park's oft-photographed Grist Mill looks stunning set against a backdrop of warm fall colors. Park activities include hiking, mountain biking and fishing. Babcock has several waterfalls you can check into on your WV Waterfall Trail digital passport. There's also plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. Located 20 miles southeast of the New River Gorge Bridge, Babcock is a perfect launching point for whitewater rafting, rock climbing and other outdoor adventures in the New River Gorge. It's also just a short drive from Hawks Nest State Park, which offers stunning overlooks of the gorge. Peak color comes around the middle of October. Bluefield WV Economic Development Authority Executive Director Jim Spencer said that creating a business place can be daunting. However, with the MyBluefield Entrepreneur's Bootcamp, everything participants need is provided through the course. “Once they go through the training and graduate the Bluefield Entrepreneur Bootcamp, and a few other things, they are in line. Once they complete their business plan, they are in line for one of these trucks,” Spencer said. Applications are open and still being accepted. Learn more at www.mybluefield.org. Earlier this week travelers were left scrambling in airports across the country as weather delays and staff shortages left many unable to make it to their destinations. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says to expect major delays during the holiday weekend as it is projected to be the busiest day for air travel since the start of the pandemic. Michael Boyd, President & CEO of Boyd Group International Group, joins the Rundown to discuss why airlines are continuing to face major meltdowns, the technical impacts that 5G cell towers will have on airplanes, and why the government continues to ignore concerns presented by airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration. President Biden has been touting his economic accomplishments on the road, saying, "Made in America is not a slogan. It's actually happening." This is a policy priority that President Biden and former President Trump actually agree on, but they do disagree on who has had more success bringing key factories and products like semiconductor chips back to the United States. Right now, the nation's main manufacturing competitor is China--a country with whom the U.S. has had tense relations recently. Former President Trump's U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer joins the Rundown to explain how allowing China to heavily profit from U.S. business is weakening America, why we must 'strategically decouple' from China carefully to avoid negative impacts on the economy, and the reasons he's a strong supporter of the CHIPS and Science Act. How young is too young for teenagers to have access to social media? That's the question that lawmakers are asking on Capitol Hill this week as the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to scrutinize the impact social media has on the mental health of children and teenagers. For years, researchers have warned of the negative consequences social media platforms have on developing minds, including eating disorders, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Now, the Senate is proposing rules that would regulate content on apps and provide parents with more tools, but is this enough? Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) joins the Rundown to discuss why he wants to ban social media access for teens under the age of 16, as well as the bipartisan efforts to hold social media companies accountable. The Federal Aviation Administration faced tough questions at Wednesday's Senate hearing, with lawmakers grilling FAA officials for answers about last month's national air traffic shutdown. The FAA Administrator Billy Nolen assured legislators on the panel that the system issues and recent string of near accidents would be addressed, and their safety messaging protocols would be updated. Aviation expert and President of Boyd Group International, Michael Boyd, joins the Rundown to discuss why this pattern of aviation safety incidents has become concerning, how delays in the FAA's modernization will create further problems, and the factors that contributed to Southwest Airlines' massive flight cancellation meltdown. Plus, commentary by Fox News Medical Contributor and author of "Panic Attack," Dr. Nicole Saphier. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The country's deadliest human smuggling operation ever recorded was uncovered earlier this week, with more than 50 migrants found dead inside an abandoned 18-wheeler in San Antonio. On Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott condemned this tragedy and announced that the state would restart the inspection of commercial trucks crossing the border to further crackdown on human smuggling. Former Chief of US Border Patrol and retired acting ICE director Ronald Vitiello joins the Rundown to weigh in on the deadly smuggling attempt. Later, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) joins to break down solutions for border security and how the White House can help. Many Americans are planning to stay home this 4th of July due to rising gas prices and flight cancellations, however, others are preparing for vacations this holiday weekend. Despite the halt in air travel following the COVID-19 pandemic, demand is on the rise with AAA predicting 3.55 million Americans will be taking flights this weekend. Michael Boyd, President of Boyd Group International, joins the Rundown with his predictions of what airports will look like during the holiday, why airlines are facing a pilot shortage, and why he believes the industry will never return to a pre-COVID normal.
