When someone makes a list of the best 90s movies, this week's movie is usually on the list. I bring you my review of classic, The Crow. The Crow was Brandon Lee's final film. He sadly was accidentally killed on the set of The Crow. He was famously precluded in death by his father Bruce Lee, who also died far too early in life. We still got a masterful performance by Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, who comes back from the dead to avenge his, and his fiancée's, murder. He goes up against some slimy baddies led by the murderous and twisted Michael Wincott as Top Dollar. He gets help from a cop played by Ernie Hudson and his friend Sarah played by Rochelle Davis. The action, the drama, the tension is all accompanied by a edgy, hard-hitting lineup of tracks that enhance it all. Join me to do a deep dive on this dark classic. The Crow also stars David Patrick Kelly, Jon Polito, Bai Ling, Tony Todd, Sofia Shinas, Anna Thomson, Angel David, Laurence Mason, Michael Massee, Bill Raymond, Marco Rodriguez and Kim Sykes. What we do in our gratitude videos that we've talked about, is we have encompassed some of that, let's call it strategy. We don't take the technical approach to it, you don't have to understand what binaural beats are to appreciate what we've done. 06:00 - We've encompassed some of that in our gratitude videos, because we find that it's more engaging to the listener. There is something about the mind, it wants to kind of resolve that little slight difference that they hear and in the frequency, the tone. So that makes it more engaging to draw you into meditation. 10:00 - I mean, it is very, very interesting how people react to certain music and when I am getting ready to volunteer again for the convalescent homes, and the the director, the activity director that I spoke to said, those Alzheimer's patients don't remember the names or the the places...

The Crow | Brandon Lee | Ernie Hudson | Michael Wincott | Alex Proyas | [1994] The Crow is a 1994 American supernatural dark fantasy directed by Alex Proyas and written by David J. Schow and John Shirley. It stars Brandon Lee in his final film appearance as Eric Draven, a murdered musician who is resurrected to avenge the deaths of himself and his fiancee. The film is based on James O'Barr's comic of the same name. Michael Wincott, Michael Massee, Ernie Hudson, James O'Barr, Tony Todd, Laurence Mason, Bai Ling, Anna Thompson, Rochelle Davis and Sodia Shinas were the supporting cast for The Crow. Production on The Crow was struck by tragedy when Lee was fatally wounded during filming. As Lee had finished most of his scenes before his death, the film was completed through script rewrites, a stunt double, and digital effects. The Crow is dedicated to Brandon Lee and his fiancee, Eliza Hutton. After Brandon Lee's death caused Paramount Pictures to opt-out of distributing the film, the rights were picked up by Miramax, who oversaw The Crow's completion. The Crow was released to positive reviews, with the Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus praising its tone, visuals, and Brandon Lee's performance. The Crow's success led to a media franchise that includes three sequels and a television series. The sequels, which featured different protagonists and none of the original cast members, would be unable to match the success of the first film, however. The Crow was a sleeper hit at the box office, it opened at number one in the United States in 1,573 theaters with $11,774,332 and averaging $7,485 per theater. Some industry sources believed that Miramax overstated the weekend gross by as much as $1 million. The Crow ultimately grossed $50,693,129 in the United States and Canada, and $43 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $93.7 million against its budget of $23 million. It ranked at number 24 for all films released in the US in 1994, the 24th highest-grossing film worldwide for 1994, and number 10 for R-rated films released that year. Overseas in Europe, the film grossed £1,245,403 in the United Kingdom (where it was 18-rated), and sold 4,604,115 tickets in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. In South Korea, it sold 83,126 tickets in Seoul City. #TheCrow #BrandonLee #RIPBrandonLee #ErnieHudson #AlexProyas #DavidJSchow #JohnShirley #MichaelWincott #MichaelMassee #ErnieHudson #JamesOBarr #TonyTodd #LaurenceMason #BaiLing #AnnaThompson #RochelleDavis #SodiaShinas #TheCrow1994 #ParamountPictures #Miramax #CultClassic #MovieByte #MovieBytePodcast ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moviebytepod... Listen & Subscribe on: iTunes / Stitcher / Podbean / Overcast / Spotify Contact Info Website: www.stayalivevideo.com Website: www.gratitudevideo.com Most Influential Person Rayko: My mom Effect on Emotions Frank Kilpatrick: I would say that it's something that I think of as an important tool or resource kind of like a bookshelf. It's having something that I can use to facilitate going down a different road. We wrote a song recently that we're just finishing up. It starts with the line, ‘hitting past my past on a darkened highway at a hundred miles an hour leading nowhere sharing at nothing'. If you're headed down that road, mindfulness and gratitude can give you a different turn or choice to shift your way of thinking and to shift your experiences of that day. That gives you a lot of power. Having that as a tool is a gift. Thoughts on Breathing Rayko: Breathing became a lot more important. You breath without thinking. When you're born, you're already breathing and you don't think about breathing. But when your loved ones get diagnosed with lung cancer, breathing becomes something that is right there, in front of your face. One thing that I do with my mother is something that I learned when I was studying opera for six years. You breath deeply the best way when you're laying down because your shoulders can come up. We lay down together when we're doing this breathing exercise. Don't get me wrong, my parents are amazing. When I was in elementary school in Japan, something was going on at home. I felt powerless and I took it out on other children at school. I was in the popular girl group. I was being so angry and took it out on others. I knew I was doing something wrong. I would go visit the students privately that I had bullied and say, I'm going to help you with your homework as long as you don't tell anyone. I did that for many years until I realized that I should make a change. As a child I meditated and my mom helped me through, figuring out the puzzles and putting the pieces together. Then I stopped bullying and started being there as a voice for the weak. By saving them I felt like I was saving myself. Today on Reel 33, we talk with Bill Allen about his book "My Rad Career", which offers a closer look into decades of his life in Hollywood before, during, and after Rad. Learn about Bill's first paid role in the film industry, in which he starred alongside a young George Clooney and legendary stage actor Jose Ferrer. Bill also opens up about the late, great Brandon Lee, his best friend whose young life was tragically cut short during filming of "The Crow" in 1994. Bill talks about the accident that claimed Brandon's life, and Michael Massee, the actor opposite Brandon, who lived the rest of his life unable to escape the emotional pain of his involvement. That alone is a remarkable story, but wait until you hear about Bill and Michael working together years later! The universe always finds a way to help us heal, and this story nails it. Rad fans do not want to miss this very special episode!
In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films, the 1994 American superhero film "The Crow" directed by Alex Proyas, and Mark also pays tribute to the sadly missed Brandon Lee. Brandon Lee plays the character Eric Draven, a rock musician who is revived by a supernatural crow to avenge his own death as well as the death of his fiancé, Shelly. Based upon the comic book of the same name by James O'Barr, the film has a strong cult following and has spawned a franchise of spin-off novels, comics, a video game, films and a television series that take place within the same supernatural mythological storytelling universe, and continues to be culturally influential to this day. "The Crow" also stars Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, Sofia Shinas, and Michael Massee, and was dedicated to Brandon Lee and his fiancé Eliza Hutton - as is this episode of the podcast dedicated to Brandon Lee and his memory, whose life was cut short far too soon. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

Welcome to Everything Trying to Kill You, the comedy podcast that talks about horror movies! In episode 33 about Rusty Cundieff’s film, Tales from the Hood, your hosts (Mary Kay, Mary, and Maegan) answer important questions like these:What doll would you inhabit if you had to haunt someone as a doll? What level of poltergeist have your sins earned you? What is it about Billie Holiday’s song, “Strange Fruit” that makes it the scariest song in existence? What is the deal with the paradox of superstition, occult, or the supernatural and their presence in Black Christianity? What defines superstition, occult, and the supernatural? How does this movie deal with the trope of the “spook” in horror films? Why do so many horror movies featuring Black protagonists have so much vigilante violence? How does this movie use the anti-snitch policy? How does the first episode reconceptualize the zombie or reanimated corpse mythology? What causes Moorehouse to resurrect himself? What should we take away from the campaign manager’s role in the dolls’ episode? How is the Black experience different from the experience of other people of color? Is the campaign manager an Uncle Tom trope? Is that a thing for a non-Black person to notice? Can we get these fight scenes right? How does this movie tap into Survivor’s Guilt? The concept of passing? What about other cascading trauma? How does the horror-montage tap into a similar but worse emotion than A Clockwork Orange? What does it mean that Hell is just watching the experiences of Black people? What makes hell hell? Did the frame story narrative work? Why set the frame in a funeral home?
Convidados adicionais: Michael Ensign, O-Lan Jones, Michael Massee.
