Countering former NFL player Will Compton who gave his takes on the "white" team, Ryan Channing and Fred shared their takes on the scenario with some competing opinions.  Getting into a little NBA, The guys were excited by the return of Ja Morant to the Memphis Grizzlies and how he made an immediate impact through his play making a statement on and off the court. The guys talk about Ja taking accountability for his actions and his importance to the league and Ryan says he can be the face in a different capacity as Allen Iverson became. Switching gears into another important topic, Brooklyn Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith was reunited with his father who was incarcerated 28 years ago. The former Dallas Maverick received help from owner Mark Cuban, and Chan brings up a conversation from two weeks ago about the importance of influencers having real influence. Prison reform is an important issue in today's society, but having a strong support system is what can change people's lives. The guys commend the joint effort from Nets and Mavericks to make something special happen. In sports and in life, Ryan Clark knows that success is subjective, so as the 2023 Steve Sabol award winner, Ryan talks about what the honor means to him. He also says dedication is what matters and Fred transitions into another team in the spotlight, the Dallas Cowboys. It seems as if they remain under a microscope week in and week out with a target on their back makes them an easy focus for the media, but after all the guys agree they are America's team.  Touching on a tougher storyline of the week, The conversation goes into a deeper discussion about a King's G-League player's recent confession to murder. The guys are surprised how very few people see the bigger picture of their actions in today's society.  Before heading into the holiday, Ryan reflects on how the Pivot began two years ago as a platform for open and honest conversations, but being able to experience his daughter's graduation for her master's degree, the idea of a pivot became much bigger and more impactful. From all of us here at The Pivot family, we wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday and hope everyone understands that it's about time, people and making memories this part of year. Joe Lombardo announced Wednesday a preliminary agreement between his office, state legislative leaders and the Oakland Athletics for a stadium funding plan. It comes after weeks of negotiations over how much public assistance the state will contribute to a $1.5 billion ballpark in Las Vegas. The preliminary agreement indicates a funding bill could come to the Nevada Legislature in the coming days. It still needs approval from both the Senate and Assembly, with less than two weeks until the session ends. The A’s have been looking for years for a home to replace Oakland Coliseum, where the team has played since arriving from Kansas City for the 1968 season. Now down 3-1, the question is whether Boston can carry that energy home, a place where it is just 4-5 this postseason to keep alive its hopes of extending the series. At the very least the Celtics’ win made their hopes of becoming the first NBA team in 151 tries to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series shift from insurmountable back to possible heading into Game 5. NHL – NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs – Conference Finals (Best of 7) Last Night Eastern Conference Finals Florida Panthers 4, Carolina Hurricanes 3                              (FLA wins 4-0) Panthers 4, Hurricanes 3 – Tkachuk sends Panthers to Stanley Cup Final, after topping Hurricanes 4-3 for sweep Matthew Tkachuk scored a power-play goal with 4.9 seconds left, Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 36 shots to cap off a brilliant series, and the Florida Panthers earned their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 27 years by beating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 to win the Eastern Conference title in a sweep. Tkachuk’s goal was his second of the night — and maybe the biggest in Panthers’ history. The Panthers will play either Vegas or Dallas for the Stanley Cup starting sometime next week; Vegas currently leads the Western Conference title series 3-0.  Ryan Lomberg and Anthony Duclair had the other goals for Florida, which swept a series for the first time in franchise history. NBA – Ja Morant is ‘fine,’ police say after welfare check due to cryptic post Police in Tennessee have conducted a welfare check on suspended Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant and say “he is fine” after cryptic messages appeared on his Instagram account and were later deleted. Morris says Morant told them he was “taking a break from social media.” Morant was suspended from all team activities May 14 after a video showed him flashing a gun for a second time. Overall, NCAA revenue increased 10% to $1.22 billion in the 2021-22 fiscal year, while its expenses rose 16% to $1.19 billion. Those expenses included $53 million in legal fees. Tkachuk’s goal was his second of the night — and maybe the biggest in Panthers’ history. Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Also hope everyone had an incredible weekend cause I know I did! There is a whole lot to talk about today so lets just dive into the agenda shall we?! As title says Jayson Tatum went OFF in game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers! Dropping 51 points which is an NBA Playoff record for most points scored in a game 7. Ironically enough Steph Curry just broke that record a few weeks ago but it seems Tatum took that challenge personally. Boston advances to the ECF for the second consecutive year against the Miami Heat! Since we are on the topic of Philly Joel Embiid had some choice words in his post game press conference. He stated that he and James Harden could not do this alone and needed some help. However his partner had 9 points and was 3-11 from the field. To put it into perspective PJ Tucker had 11 in this game...Bad looks for the reigning MVP to throw his teammates under the bus when he failed to perform as well. Staying in the NBA Ja Morant was caught yet again with another fire arm on IG live. The Grizzlies have suspended him indefinitely which means he is banned from all team activities and facilities. We are not surprised what so ever and Ja Morant will have to learn some day that he is throwing his future away. Monty Williams gets fired in Phoenix after 3 straight playoff appearances that also contained a Finals appearance. Did the Suns make the right call? Or was Monty another head coaching scapegoat? The Western Conference Finals are set! The 1 seeded Denver Nuggets face off against the 7th seeded Los Angeles Lakers! With a trip to the Finals on the line who do you have coming out of the West?! Will it be Nikola Jokic getting to his first Finals? Or will LeBron James be chasing his 5th championship? Over in the East, history seems to repeat itself! This is the 3rd time in 4 seasons that the Celtics will face off against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. Can Jayson Tatum lead Boston to back to back Finals appearances or will Playoff Jimmy will the 8th seeded Heat to their 2nd Finals birth in 4 seasons? Learn more about your ad choices.
