The Jets debate explodes again as Evan Roberts pushes back on Shaun Morash for declaring there is essentially no chance they surprise people this season. Evan argues that unpredictable seasons happen all the time, while Shaun insists the Jets remain one of the NFL's worst teams and says optimism should be kept in check. Shaun Morash is in for Tiki Barber alongside Evan Roberts as the Malik Nabers versus Garrett Wilson argument also heats back up, with Shaun defending his belief that Nabers has the higher ceiling. Plus, Evan and Shaun react to Ric Flair's questionable Dolly Parton tribute and remember Parton's legendary career and memorable Thanksgiving halftime performance.

Mike Tomlin and Lamar Jackson to the Jets becomes the ultimate fantasy scenario as Evan Roberts and Shaun Morash react to a report linking Woody Johnson to the former Steelers coach and raising the possibility of Jackson eventually becoming available. Evan believes Tomlin would absolutely be a Jets target, while Shaun is skeptical of the reporting but admits money could bring Tomlin back to coaching.

Jerry returns and starts with the Jets and Frank Reich saying Geno Smith is dialed in. Mike McDaniel said today is the youngest you will ever be and no reporters wanted to engage. We talked about Jed York's prostitution situation and why it's illegal even if you didn't go through with it.

Jerry brings us sounds from Jets camp and Geno Smith saying he leads by example. Rob Saleh was critical of where his offense is right now. Brian Daboll also talked about the team and is happy with where they are at. Andy Reid on Patrick Mahomes and the start of the season. We heard from Dave Sims as the Yankees lost to the Astros and the Mets beat the Brewers in ten as the third baseman couldn't throw the ball home.

Jerry's here with Matt Nagy on Odell Beckham Jr's progress. Frank Reich is a big fan of Aaron Glenn. Kyle Shanahan was asked if Jed York will be a distraction. The Yankees lost to the Astros in a back and forth game. The Mets beat the Brewers as Francisco Lindor made a great catch and then scored the winning run in the tenth.

Geno Smith turns the Jets' season into a heated argument over whether they have any realistic chance to surprise people. Evan Roberts expects a bad year but refuses to dismiss them completely, pointing to the offensive line, Garrett Wilson, the running game and Smith's past success as reasons a competitive season is at least possible. Shaun Morash is in for Tiki Barber alongside Evan Roberts and takes the much harsher position, arguing Smith will ultimately sink the offense and that the Jets have virtually no path to being good. Evan fires back with a 20 percent chance of eight wins, setting off a fierce debate over hope, quarterback play and just how bad the Jets really are.

The Jets' talent becomes the center of a heated argument as Evan Roberts pushes back on Shaun Morash's insistence that Geno Smith makes all of it irrelevant. Evan lays out potential wins on the schedule and argues that dismissing an eight-win season as impossible goes too far, while Shaun keeps coming back to the same conclusion: without the quarterback, none of the surrounding talent matters. Shaun Morash is in for Tiki Barber alongside Evan Roberts as callers jump into the debate, including comparisons between the Jets and Giants skill-position groups. That sparks another argument over Garrett Wilson, Malik Nabers, A.D. Mitchell and whether Jaxson Dart is already better than Geno Smith, before the conversation turns toward Nabers potentially being ready for Week 1.

Shaun Morash is in for Tiki Barber alongside Evan Roberts, and he isn't buying the Giants as a playoff team. Shaun still sees roughly an eight-win roster, pointing to major concerns on the defensive line and at cornerback even as optimism grows around other parts of the team. Then the Jets-Giants comparisons get heated. Callers push back on Shaun's pessimism about the Jets, sparking arguments over Malik Nabers versus Garrett Wilson, the two teams' skill-position talent, and whether the Jets' young tight ends deserve the hype. Shaun keeps coming back to the same conclusion: the Jets still stink, no matter how much potential their offense may have.

The Jets have five games to prove Shaun Morash wrong. Shaun says a 3-2 start would force him to reconsider his bleak outlook, while Evan Roberts calls Week 1 against Tennessee a “do we have a season” game and argues the Jets still have a path to surprise people. The debate then erupts again over Malik Nabers and Garrett Wilson, with Shaun insisting Nabers has the higher ceiling while Evan points to Wilson's production despite constant quarterback turnover. The Giants-Jets divide ultimately comes down to two words: coach and quarterback. Evan believes John Harbaugh can elevate the Giants into the playoffs, while he has far less faith in Aaron Glenn doing the same for the Jets.

Jerry's got Minkah Fitzpatrick on the Jets having no interceptions last year. We heard from Deshaun Watson who said he thrives off the energy of the fans. Todd Monken said Deshaun deserves to start. Mike McCarthy talked about Joey Porter Jr and his contract situation with the Steelers. Kwanza Jones was fired up to buy the Padres. She was screaming about winning. Zack Wheeler had a rough night against the Mariners.

Jerry's final update starts with John Harbaugh's exchange with a reporter. Boomer wonders who's playing for the Jets on Friday and if Jaxson Dart will play. We heard from Todd Monken on deciding to go with Deshaun Watson. Dan Orlovsky is shocked and feels awful for the Browns fans. August 24, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing several key things that Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy had to say during morning media session. The Steelers are planning to have rookie OT Max Iheanachor practice on Monday, so we discuss the possibility of him making his debut Thursday night in the team's preseason finale. McCarthy also said that DB Jalen Ramsey is set to practice on Monday as he is being removed from the Active/PUP list. We also pass along the seemingly good health of several other players that have been dealing with injuries coming out of the weekend. On Monday, McCarthy refused to confirm that QB Will Howard will definitely make the 53-man roster this year, so Alex and I discuss that tidbit. We also talk a little bit about McCarthy telling the media on Monday that the team is currently at an impasse with CB Joey Porter Jr. when it comes to contract extension talks. The Steelers made several transactions on Monday morning, so we go over what those moves detail. In the middle of this Monday show, Alex and I get into our full all-22 recap of the Steelers' second preseason game against the New York Jets. We start that off by discussing the two interceptions that Howard threw against the Jets and the role that WR Roman Wilson seemingly played in both of them. We also discuss the mistakes that Howard seemed to make on both of those interceptions. As part of us discussing those two interceptions, we drill deeper into translating what McCarthy had to say about both of those plays. After breaking down the Friday night play of both Howard and QB Drew Allar, Alex and I discuss whether four quarterbacks being kept on the 53-man roster appears to be an almost lock at this point. Alex and I then work our way through discussing the play of the starting offensive line on Friday night against the Jets.
