The discussion dives deep into the contentious dynamics within Grace Fellowship Church (GFC) and the implications of its leadership's practices, particularly under Mike Reed. The episode highlights the alarming patterns of spiritual abuse and authoritarianism that have emerged, drawing parallels to previous critiques of other groups, such as the Church of Wells. Kevin Yount shares his personal experiences and observations, emphasizing the detrimental impact of legalism and the lack of genuine accountability within GFC. The hosts explore how Tony Miano, a prominent figure in street evangelism, has navigated these turbulent waters, often dismissing valid concerns raised by others. This dialogue not only seeks to expose the troubling behaviors within GFC but also aims to encourage accountability and transparency in church leadership. The podcast episode delves into the contentious topic of accountability within church leadership, focusing particularly on Tony Miano and his association with Grace Fellowship Church (GFC). A significant portion of the discussion centers around the implications of pastoral authority and the culture of submission that can emerge within evangelical communities. The hosts critically analyze Miano's recent sermon where he accuses critics of being 'wolves' and discusses the toxic dynamics that can arise when leaders claim exclusive authority over the spiritual lives of their congregants. This leads to an exploration of the psychological and emotional toll that authoritarian church environments can have on individuals, prompting a broader conversation about the need for transparency and genuine accountability among church leaders.Listeners are invited to consider the impact of Miano's rhetoric on his followers and the broader implications of his claims regarding evangelism and church membership. The episode highlights testimonies from former members of GFC who describe their experiences of spiritual abuse, emphasizing the necessity of creating spaces where dissent is not only tolerated but welcomed. By examining Miano's past and present statements, the hosts illustrate how his narrative has shifted over time, raising critical questions about integrity in church leadership and the importance of fostering a culture of open dialogue rather than fear.As the episode unfolds, the discussion touches upon the broader evangelical landscape, scrutinizing how the issues faced at GFC reflect larger trends within contemporary Christianity. The hosts encourage listeners to reflect on their own church experiences and the importance of accountability, urging a collective move towards healthier church dynamics that prioritize the well-being of all congregants over the preservation of leadership power.Takeaways: The podcast highlights the dangers of authoritarian church structures and spiritual abuse. Tony Miano's claims of being attacked by wolves contradict his own history of accountability. Tony's transition from one church to another reflects a pattern of seeking validation. The importance of church community and accountability is emphasized as essential for evangelists. The episode critiques the tendency of some churches to impose legalistic standards on their members. durée : 00:33:13 - Bistroscopie - par : Charline Vanhoenacker - Autrice multiprimée, Léonora Miano propose dans son nouveau texte dix nuances de foufoune.
Stories are a great way to connect with your audience. When they are done through video they can be even more impactful! Stories that include other stakeholders, like board members, donors, volunteers, etc, are also fantastic. One thing we don't pay attention to is how we capture those stories, keep them for future use, and ensure you are sharing them ethically. What you'll learn: → the power of stories. → value of a story bank. → three step process for video. → importance of asking the right questions. → leading with positivity. → what role AI plays in video. Want to skip ahead? Here are key takeaways: [3:15] Stories have been a big part of our communication from the beginning of time. It is how we have communicated before there was a written language. How they make us feel is what we remember and what connects us to the brand or organization. It allows people to see themselves as part of your mission. [8:51] Build a collection of stories. Create a process for how you'll collet, store, and manage consent around your videos. This allows you to be able to pull the right story out for the right donor to connect with their motivations. [10:14] Three steps to start with video storytelling. Step 1 – start at the end – understand what the goal is and what you hope to accomplish with the content. Step 2 – determine the type of content. Is it a testimonial, is it for an event, do you need it for a grant proposal, etc? Step 3. – refine the call to action. [13:51] Prep questions for better results. Get specific with the questions you ask. This preps the person to understand what they should be ready for and also helps guide the conversation towards the goals of the video. [24:19] Lead with positivity. People want to be part of the solution. They want to see the good work you're doing. Focus on the results and impact, instead of the doom and gloom. [26:56] Use AI tools for video very sparingly. People can see that they are AI and it can feel less personal. Especially when you're utilizing video for big grant proposals or larger sponsor asks. However, using AI to pull content out of your existing videos can be a great way to repurpose and save time. In this episode, we speak with Chris Miano, Founder of MemoryFox, the software platform that aims to help nonprofits raise funds and stand out on social media by leveraging grassroots content. We learn about Chris' journey from Buffalo to Army Platoon Leader and Company Commander in Iraq and Afghanistan and back again and discover the stories he heard in the field and at home that fuel his passion to make authentic life stories available and accessible at last.
On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Rick Welch was a guest on Michael Miano's Power of Preterism Network to share his personal testimony. Born in Michigan, he moved to Maine with his family as an infant and moved to North Carolina at the age of 5. Growing up in the mountains surrounded by "a church on every corner" Rick was introduced to the gospel at the age of ten. Although he was never in foster care, he did live with another family in his teen years that taught athiesm as a worldview. Late in life, Rick had a radical salvation experience that set him on his current path. We hope you enjoy listening to this interview with one of our friends from Long Island, Pastor Michael Miano! Grassroots storytelling emphasizes genuine, human experiences that can deeply connect with the audience. Rather than focusing on a polished narrative, it prioritizes the authenticity and raw emotions of individuals who are not professional storytellers. This form of storytelling can have a profound impact on the listener, as it evokes empathy and understanding by showcasing the unfiltered realities faced by real people. In this episode we interview Chris Miano, a passionate advocate for authentic storytelling and founder of MemoryFox, a storytelling platform for nonprofits to collect and leverage stories from their communities for fundraising and marketing. MemoryFox was initially designed as a storytelling platform for pre-dementia elderly but pivoted to serve all nonprofits. Chris has an incredible journey that started with his time in the Army and the desire to preserve his grandfather's stories from World War II. In this episode, Chris urges non-profit marketers to embrace grassroots storytelling, rejecting the idea of creating perfect, scripted stories. Instead, Chris values the imperfections as a representation of genuine human experience. He believes that the energy, tone, and body language of the storyteller are more compelling than carefully selected words, emphasizing the need for non-profits to prioritize honest and relatable narratives. For nonprofits, grassroots storytelling also provides an avenue to hear and learn from their own communities and share these insights with a wider audience, effectively promoting their cause. In this episode, you will: 1. Discover the power of authentic storytelling to inspire support for non-profits. 2. Uncover the ethical dilemmas of using personal experiences in fundraising efforts. 3. Learn about cultivating stronger bonds between non-profit organizations and funders through compelling narratives. 4. Tap into the potential of technology and younger generations to drive social change. 5. Master the art of streamlining non-profit promotion through user-friendly platforms. Pastor Michael Miano of Blue Point Bible Church of Long Island, New York joins the Burros in Giraffe Studio to share his personal testimony! Growing up with the absence of a father, his mother in and out of jail, and forced to figure out life on his own, Mike made the decision in his youth to join a gang. After being in and out of jail several times, he eventually was sent to prison. During his time there, he began a search for meaning in his life which led him to studying Islam. It would be during this time that a fellow prisoner named Paul would share the gospel of Jesus Christ with him. This radically changed his life and he began to read the Bible constantly during his prison term. After prison he entered into Seminary school, began preaching from his garage to neighbors and would eventually be called to a congregation. It's a touching story of a young man in need of a family, the search for meaning, and a Savior that brought him both. You won't want to miss this fascinating testimony! Lorraine Miano is no stranger to Arner Adventures. Well, to us, anyway, and we call all aspects of our life an adventure! Lorraine is an Integrative Holistic Health Coach certified in hormone health, and the author of the bestselling book “The Magic of Menopause: A Holistic Guide to Get Your Happy Back!” She does so much to inspire women, including instilling knowledge about holistic health so that we can take control of our own health.
