Even coaches and therapists need support of their own and today's guest has become a ripple effect by prioritizing her health and wellness... Today, we have a very special guest with us, Lainie Phelps. Lainie is a therapist, and also a certified life coach. She works with families within inpatient substance abuse treatment. Before she came to us, she cheered in college and ran a mini marathon a few years back and felt great, but then she “let herself go" which is why she came to VGFN. She felt bad all of the time: low energy, tired, unmotivated, and was snacking uncontrollably. She felt like she uses all her energy at work and then crashed at 2/3pm, so she didn't even have energy to hang out with people anymore. She told me “I'm 25 years old but i feel like I'm 50” and was even crying often because of how bad she felt. She had always struggled with being “the bigger girl.” She had lost a lot of weight fast in high school from doing 30 mins of cardio and 1200 calories every day, but she knew it wasn't sustainable. She started working on eating more protein and running more before she came to VGFN, but she wasn't seeing results. She tried some fad diets but they were miserable. She hadn't worked with a coach or accountability partner before, but realized that she needs the help so that's when she reached out to me 2 years ago. Now Lainie is coming on the podcast because she wants to give back to people what she's been given. She said, “Sometimes whenever I go to explain to people what I've experienced through VGFN, it's like they don't always fully understand it. And so I just want to be able to have that space and that opportunity to talk to other people and be like, there is this awesome thing that you can do. And I promise it's like going to be beneficial. I know what it's like to be the prospective client and be very skeptical because the get skinny, quick fixes are everywhere. It's all over TikTok and social media. There's all these new things. And it's so easy to fall victim to that. And so I think just being able to build that connection with women and saying, you don't have to live that way anymore. And so much more about your life can change.” That's exactly what she did and we can't wait for you to hear our conversation! Welcome to May 21, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate those who inspire us on land, sea, air and space and also in the pool. After a few defeats at the hands of British forces, George Washington requested troops that could fight on both land and sea. On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two Battalions of Marines to serve with the Continental Army and these men changed the course of the Revolutionary War. Since then, the United States military has expanded to include not just the Army, Navy, and Marines, but also the Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force. On National Armed Forces Day, we celebrate all the men and women who serve our country both past and present. At the age of 10, most kids are thinking about video games and homework. But not Carson Foster. At 10 years old, he was an avid swimmer and had been competing for a few years, aspiring to be like his idol—Michael Phelps. In 2012, he beat Phelp's record for the 50 meter butterfly by a full second. Phelps was so impressed that he sent Carson a selfie holding a sign that said “Congratulations Carson!” A few years later, at age 16, Carson broke another of Phelps' records. Watch out for Carson Foster, who may just break a few more records on the world stage. Celebrate National Learn to Swim Day by dipping your toes in the water. Who knows where this fun pastime might lead. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We got to meet @CurtisMarshall with Dental Intel at @Dr. Phelp's Dental Workshop in Charlotte, NC. Dental Intelligence and Med Rank Interactive were both sponsors of Dr. Phelp's event. We instantly saw the value of working together by helping dentists thrive with digital marketing, data analytics and profitability tracking. In this episode, we chat with Curtis Marshall of Dental Intelligence about his philosophy on the two types of patients, how Dental Intel helps with those types of patients, how Dental Intel measures profitability in a dental practice, what tools can dental practices use to automate their marketing efforts, and much more. With over 20 years' experience in marketing and communication, and 15 years' experience in practice management, dental coaching, and operations, Curtis Marshall, a co-founder of Dental Intel, utilizes his passion and skills to help dental professionals nationwide take their companies to the next level. Dr. Bret Tobler said, “Curtis is a fantastic motivator. He is energetic, charismatic and personal. He is the kind of guy who makes friends wherever he goes. He's been a great resource for growing and promoting our business.

Some Kids Dip Their Toes In The Pool Early, And Others Take It To A Whole New Level. Welcome to May 15th, 2021 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate making waves and a chip off the old block. At the age of 10, most kids are thinking about video games and homework. But not Carson Foster. At 10 years old, he was an avid swimmer and had been competing for a few years, aspiring to be like his idol—Michael Phelps. In 2012, he beat Phelp's record for 50 meter butterfly by a full second. Phelps was so impressed that he sent Carson a selfie holding a sign that said “Congratulations Carson!” A few years later, at age 16, Carson broke another of Phelps' records. And since he's on the short list for the Olympics in Tokyo, Carson Foster may break a few more records, but this time on the world stage. Celebrate National Learn to Swim Day by dipping your toes in the water. Who knows where this fun pastime might lead. Chocolate chips are so commonplace today, that it's hard to imagine they weren't invented until 1937. That's when Ruth Wakefield chopped up pieces of chocolate and added them to her cookie dough. Hoping to add a new spin on her baking, the cookies were a huge success. A few years later Nestle bought the recipe, and it has graced their packages of chocolate morsels ever since. On National Chocolate Chip Day, celebrate by sprinkling these magic morsels anywhere you please. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day.

Latter Day Radio, now podcasting from The Intersection of Faith & Freedom.
In this comprehensive biography, author and historian Bruce Van Orden tells the story early Latter-day Saint leader, printer, scribe, ghostwriter, and monumental hymn writer, WW Phelps. Phelps printed the Book of Commandments and other early standard works. In fact, it was his print shop that was destroyed by the Missouri mob that eventually led to the expulsion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from that state. He was one of the "council of presidents" that guided the Church in Kirtland and helped publish the newspaper in Nauvoo. As political clerk, he assisted Joseph Smith in his roles as mayor of Nauvoo and contender for the U.S. presidency. Phelps also played a key role in the Council of Fifty. He went west with the Saints, helped propose the "State of Deseret," and published prose and poetry in the Deseret News and his Deseret Almanac. Phelp's strong feelings sometimes put him at odds with Church leaders, and he was excommunicated three times, rejoining each time. In the end, he showed the importance of endurance and earned the love and respect of the Prophet and others, then and now. This interview with Van Orden originally took place on KLO AM1430 in Salt Lake City in 2018 as one of hundreds of episodes of Latter Day Radio. Now, the broadcast has been edited as a podcast, one of dozens soon to be available online, at Apple Music, Spotify and other distributors. Chris Roe of Roe Hunting Resources joins me in episode 12. The idea was to spend an hour or two talking western turkey hunting. Well, we immediately got off track and have a great discussion about hunting elk, living in the backcountry in Colorado, and different elk hunting resources people should look into to include his website, Roe Hunting Resources. We then turn the tide back to turkey hunting. In this segment, we go deep when it comes to types of turkey calls, calling techniques, hunting strategies, and different types of turkeys. We discuss western turkey hunting on public land, mostly the Merriam turkeys. Chris is super informative and passionate about sharing his keen expertise. Definitely check out his website here, and find him on all social channels at Roe Hunting Resources. I also announce the winner, Jeff Dyer, of the turkey hunting advice email competition. He will receive a Phelp's turkey call, congrats Jeff! Let me know how I'm doing at jim@thewesternhuntsman.com Learn more at www.thewesternhuntsman.com
Get ready! We're doing something a little different on today's podcast. I'm having my very first interview ever on Feeling Good, and I couldn't be more excited. I just spent a weekend seminar with fellow dentist Dr. Christopher Phelps, and I want to share the insights we made over the weekend with all of you, my favorite listeners. Dr. Phelps is sharing with us today his experience with the power of persuasion. Or, as he calls, “pre-suasion”. Working with Robert Cialdini's 6 Principles of Influence, Dr. Phelps is changing the way we think about our patients and their treatment plans. We're talking today about Dr. Phelps' techniques and how you can use them in the dentist's chair. It's all about setting the stage for helping patients accept the treatment options you're explaining and how to offer them the best possible treatment. Where did this unique perspective come from? Dr. Phelps answers that and many other questions about his dental career today, but the most important question we dive into on this episode is how you can change not only our mindset but also that of your patients' and your staff. When it comes to the powers of persuasion and pre-suasion, it's all about looking closer and what we say and the questions we ask. Ultimately, you want to get your patients into a “proactive mindset”. According to Dr. Phelps, this proactive mindset is what separates the perceptive patients from the more stubborn ones. If you want patients to respond positively to your treatment options, you have to prime them to be proactive. We discuss the persuasive techniques you can use in your own dental practice to achieve this mindset, including setting the mood and asking the right questions. It's like I'm always saying - your thoughts have the power to create your reality. What we say matters, and you do have the power to create a proactive mindset in your patients and your team and even yourself. If you're ready to be an influencer and take on the proactive mind, tune in right now to hear the nuggets Dr. Christopher Phelps is sharing with us. In This Episode You Will Learn: What my listeners are saying about this podcast 1:20 All about Dr. Phelp's dental experience and entrepreneurship 2:40 How to recognize the different ways people make their decisions 8:20 How to prime a proactive mindset in your patients 10:55 What a proactive mindset looks like in the dental chair 18:55 Tricks for setting - and sticking to! - your goals 24:29 Where you can learn more about the 6 Principles of Influence 26:20 Some Questions We Discuss: What entrepreneurial strengths can be applied to our dental careers? 4:10 How did Dr. Phelps start training with these principles of influence? 6:06 What's the difference between “persuasion” and “pre-suasion”? 10:13 What is a mindset and how do we shape it? 11:50 How does language shape our mindsets? 14:51 What are the most common mistakes dentists make when it comes to persuasion? 20:22 What is Dr. Phelp's favorite movie and how does it influence his mindset? 28:34 Resources: Visit my website: TheLifeCoachForBusyDentists.com Listen to more episodes: Feeling Good Podcast Visit Dr. Phelps' website: GuideThemToYes.com and Drphelpshelps.com.
