The seventh instalment in the Jurassic Park (now Jurassic World) series, Jurassic World Rebirth might be the first of the sequels to really come close to capturing the kind of wonder, excitement and horror that the 1993 original offered. That might be in part because it cribs liberally from it, with both moments and entire sequences closely evocative of their 32-year-old counterparts. But there's plenty else that's new here, and Rebirth is a characterful expansion to the Jurassic Park story. Thoughts of containment have finally been totally discarded - dinosaurs have now been roaming the Earth for some time, to the point that they're dying out everywhere other than a narrow band around the equator, which is illegal for human travel. So that's where we're headed, of course, as a pharmecutical exec seeking to make a fortune from dino-sourced drugs hires a team of mercenaries to extract blood from three creatures: one that swims, one that walks, and one that flies. It's a decent structure that tells you what to expect and allows for a variety of settings and action, into which are placed such charismatic stars as Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend. Director Gareth Edwards builds the world beautifully, exploiting it for that sense of scale that so defines his aesthetic, and reminding Mike in particular of his feature debut Monsters; and although in simple terms - this is, ultimately, a blockbuster sequel - the film has a moral message worth expressing. Jurassic World Rebirth is easily the best of the Jurassic sequels and equally easy to recommend. Just try not to focus too much on how it reminds you of a better film from 1993. Recorded on 13th July 2025.
Ganz ehrlich: Ich bin wegen Scarlett Johansson ins Kino gegangen. Sam Pay (Song by Song podcast) and Hannah Wales (missflicks.com) return to Flixwatcher to review Sam's choice The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023) is a short film based on a short story collection by Roald Dahl directed by Wes Anderson. It is the first in a four-part series of shorts adapted from Dahl's short stories collection and includes The Swan, The Rat Catcher and Poison. This is the second time Wes Anderson has adapted Roald Dahl and once again brings his trademark style to Dahl's much loved words. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar plus three more features a rotating cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Henry Sugar, Max Engelman, and Harry Pope, Ralph Fiennes as Roald Dahl, the Policeman, and the Rat Man, Dev Patel as Dr. Chatterjee, John Winston, and Timber Woods, Ben Kingsley as Imdad Khan, the Dealer, and Dr. Ganderbai, Richard Ayoade as Dr. Marshall, the Great Yogi, and the Editor/Reporter and Rupert Friend as Peter Watson/Narrator and Claud. Scores for the four short films were mixed, general consensus was that The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar was the strongest of the four. With a combined runtime of less than 90 minutes, much shorter than most cinema releases, it still comes recommended with an overall score of 3.74.

We always claim to talk about "other nerd related media", but lately haven't done much of that. Now, with our barrage of ANDOR interviews in the rear-view mirror, we finally take some time to talk about another franchise: Jurassic Park! This dino-franchise resurrects as much as the titular dinosaurs, and this summer brings us the latest installment: Jurassic World Rebirth. Today, Chase and Gus take the time to review the latest dinosaur-film and see if having the Star Wars talents of Gareth Edwards (director of Rogue One) and Rupert Friend (the Grand Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi) can make this film soar higher than a Pterodactylus or crash harder than the last couple of Jurassic World films. In our volatile social and political climate, does this film nail the anti-capitalist/corporate messaging or does it shy away from it?Join us as we have as much fun as a T-Rex swimming while we discuss all these transgenic dinosaurs!• • •Triad of the Force is a channel which was featured on the Podcast Stage at Star Wars Celebration 2022 and 2023, featuring Nani and Gus, lifelong Puerto Rican friends who after years of discussing the media they love, came together and created their show. We learned about dino DNA for the first time in 1993 with the first Jurassic Park movie. That DNA must have staying power but they're still churning out Jurassic movies 32 years later. This time, in “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, it's Scarlett Johanssen, post-Black Widow, taking the lead. She plays Zora, a merc hired by a questionable pharmaceutical rep to help a dinosaur expert get access to a forbidden area where dinosaurs still roam free. This is all to get some dino DNA to help cure heart disease. Is it worth going to the theater to find out what happens next? Check out this episode to find out! “Jurassic World: Rebirth” also stars Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacano and Ed Skrein.
About two years after we supposedly got the final installment of the JURASSIC PARK/WORLD franchise, we get yet another. JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH is full of great performers such as Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend -- as well as a great performance by the young Audrina Miranda -- but the characters they portray are one-dimensional, cookie-cutter characters that prove it's time for this film franchise to go extinct.
In this week's episode of the world's-fastest-movie-review podcast, Jackson and Mike review TWO new films!!! First “THE OLD GUARD 2”. Andy leads her immortal warriors against a powerful enemy threatening their group. Starring Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding. Then, a quick review of “JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH“. An extraction team races to the most dangerous place on Earth, on a top-secret mission to secure DINOSAUR genetic material. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

With a whole new cast, Gareth Edwards directing, and mutated dinosaurs, the franchise is receiving a number of new elements to re-energize itself, but does it work? Or is it time for this once great franchise to go extinct?
Just in time for July 4th weekend is Jurassic World: Rebirth. This time around, in a novel departure from the franchise formula, we see big name stars being chased by dinosaurs! So... yeah. Matt & Ashley review the latest Jurassic entry in this episode.
Here we go again! The seventh film in the Jurassic franchise - Jurassic World Rebirth - is now in theaters worldwide. This is the first time since The Lost World that David Koepp has returned to write the screenplay for, but this time it's not an adaptation of a Michael Crichton novel. I had hope since that original announcement and the hiring of Gareth Edwards as the director certainly had me yearning to finally see a good Jurassic film in theaters again. For context, the original Jurassic Park is easily one of my favorite movies ever made; I think it is, in every measurable way, a perfect summer blockbuster. That being said, I don't think any of the Jurassic Park/World sequels have ever been fully satisfying. There are a lot of fans of The Lost World. I am not one of them. There are some staunch defenders of Jurassic Park III, and I am certainly not one of those either. I can have some guilty pleasure fun with the first Jurassic World, but the two films that followed were dull and disappointing. I was one of the few who was able to build up some legitimate hype for Rebirth, because I like the cast and creative team. Is it, by far, the best Jurassic sequel... even if that doesn't mean much? And what results is a colorful, quirky, and symettrical adventure which could only come from the mind of Wes Anderson.Host & Editor: Geoff GershonEditor: Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Hello everyone and welcome back to another review here on MOVIE Morning. Wes Anderson's latest film - The Phoenician Scheme - hit UK cinemas this past weekend and will have a slow international rollout over the next month or so. I am a bit of a Wes Anderson noob. I watched Fantastic Mr. Fox obsessively when I was younger and have seen The Grand Budapest Hotel but other than that, I don't have an exact recollection of whether I've seen any of his other movies. Because of the early release here, I thought I'd give The Phoenician Scheme a shot, especially because Anderson has such a passionate following and the plot description seemed interesting to me. Is it worth seeing at the cinema? Ian and Michael from Lord Of Adders Black: A Black mo baadder Podcast return to Flixwatcher to review Ian's choice The Death of Stalin. The Death of Stalin (2017) is a satirical black comedy written and directed by Armando (The Thick of It) Iannucci. In the wake of the death of Joseph Stalin, the remaining members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union bicker and fight over who will succeed him. Its ensemble cast includes Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, Paddy Considine, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, Olga Kurylenko, Michael Palin, Andrea Riseborough, Dermot Crowley, Paul Chahidi, Adrian McLoughlin, Paul Whitehouse, and Jeffrey Tambor. The Death of Stalin attempts to condense a very complex period of what was then the Soviet Union into 1 hour and 47 minutes with added satirical comedy. Its sheer number of key players adds to its denseness. It's tricky balance of humour and people being shot in the head won't be for everyone and the recommendability scores reflected this. The Death of Stalin scores 4.23 overall. Do you have that problem where someone is always asking you to watch a romantic movie but the movie has too much of that, ya know, love and romance? I just might have the solution you've been looking for in this week's movie “Companion.” This movie is a romantic movie in marketing only to perhaps help you get your special someone to watch it with you. Then you'll both get to watch how the movie spins its head and becomes a twisted, malevolent, bloody, yet funny, series of devious plot twists. What kicks off the movie is Josh (Jack Quaid) and Iris (Sophie Thatcher) traveling out to a remote lake house to just have a weekend hang with Josh's buddies. It's a fun, casual environment as they all eat, drink and be merry. Josh and Iris are getting along swimmingly with everyone else. Then something deadly happens and Josh and company have to go into “we're on a mission” mode before any devious plans are revealed and more people die. Who will live? Who will die? Who will try this apple pie I just made? Is it worth finding out? Check out this episode to see. “Companion” also stars Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillen, Rupert Friend, Jaboukie Young-White, Matt McCarthy, Marc Menchaca, Woody Fu and Ashley Lambert.
