Today, we talk with folks from the MovNat Level 3 Certification in Glorietta, NM, September 2021, about fitness, the broader idea of human movement, nature, culture, and being a good human animal. Joining us is Nate Smith, Nate Amado, Rock Hancock, Scott Southworth, and Mason Maas. Enjoy!Nate Smith: "Nate was raised in the mountains of front range CO. With the state land as his backyard his interests were shaped quickly by the landscape and culture of his mountain community. Today he serves as a Sacred hunting guide, Movnat L3 instructor, lifestyle coach, and works part time in the outdoor industry to fuel his passion for skiing, rock climbing, and hunting. "Rock Hancock: "Brian 'Rock' Hancock believes that exercise and physical activity should celebrate the body's capabilities. As a Level 2 MovNat Certified Trainer and a Certified Health Coach, Rock has over 12 years experience working with various fitness backgrounds. He has assisted a range of clients, from the United States Marine Corps to those in corporate settings. He practices what he teaches. A look into his home would prove that a 2x4 sits in the living room for balance practice. His favorite natural movement skills are lifting, carrying, and jumping. In his free time, he loves cooking for his wife and sons."Scott Southworth: "Scott is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, MovNat Level 2 Trainer (working on Level 3!), and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. in his gym practice, he specializes in weight loss, strength training, bodyweight training, and back and joint pain. He believes that our bodies are meant to be extensions of ourselves. He comes from a background in wrestling and freerunning where he used his body to explore and define who he was as a person. Since then, he's gotten involved in obstacle course races, endurance challenges, rock climbing, and a host of other activities. His training focuses on preparing for what life might throw at us. Whether that's sprinting up stairs so we don't miss a flight, helping a family member move into their new place, or playing a pickup game of basketball, he believes in a useful type of fitness. He's been involved in fitness for thirteen years and professionally training others for over a decade. Everyday he makes it his goal to better himself and grow as a trainer just as he asks his clients to better themselves and move toward their goals every day."Nate Amado: "Nate grew up a fairly weak and skinny kid, and having asthma didn't help -- running out of breath trying to keep up with friends was discouraging. He didn't feel strong, good at sports, or capable enough to defend himself (never mind others). He only played on a sports team once growing up, basketball in 3rd grade, and only made the free throws. It wasn't until his senior year in high school when he intently started pursuing new physical & mental challenges, starting out with high school wrestling. It was great, he won his first match or two, and got his ass handed to me for the rest of them. He loved it, and only wished he had started sooner. Later, when he discovered MovNat from the video "The Workout the World Forgot", he realized, 'THIS IS IT!' He felt that it was everything in one, the most complete system. He knew, right then and there, that this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He went on to receive the MovNat Level 2 & Combatives Certifications (Mar & Jul 2016), The Human Path Scout Certification (Oct 2017), the Level 3 MovNat Certification (Oct 2017), a Purple Belt in BJJ (Dec 2017), the Primal Health Coaching Certification (Apr 2018), the MovNat Aquatics Certification (Sept 2018, officially earning all 5 MovNat certs and becoming a MovNat Master Trainer), the Gracie Combatives Belt Certification (twice - Jan & Jul 2020), and am currently on the path to becoming a certified Gracie Jiu Jitsu Instructor (July 2021), and a MeatRx Animal-Based Nutrition Coach (June 2021)."Mason Maas: "Mason is currently studying for a Doctorate in Acupuncture, He has a Masters in Acupuncture and a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science. He is working on his MovNat Level 3 certification, but has earned his MovNat Level 2 Certification. He is also an NASM Master Trainer, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a Performance Enhancement Specialist."Contact Michael:1. Email: ccerppodcast@aol.com2. Website: http://www.goldams.com 3. This is the inaugural episode of Music City Scene. In this episode, our guest, left handed guitar playing and gifted songwriter Marc-Alan Barnette recounts his 40+ years as an independent musician. As a first interview for us, this was easy, Marc's stories are unbelievably interesting and give you a great insight to what a life well lived in the music business is about. For more info on Marc, go to:Marc's WebsiteMarc's Facebook (Marc performs on FaceBook Live every Monday and Friday @ 10am central time)Marc's music takes a little bit of everything from classic rock, southern rock, funk, folk, country and more. The one thing that we found that characterizes Marc, especially in his "A Life Well Lived" release is a deep blue-eyed soul sound (you can find and purchase music on his website). He has written over 3,000 songs over his career. He has opened for the bands like, Toby Keith, Frankie Ballard, Restless Heart, Amy Grant and many others. On his first night in Nashville in 1988 he scored his first cut with the artist, Shelby Lynne (who went on to win a Grammy in 2008). Marc is a quintessential professional artist who comes across like he was born to entertain. You can find him playing around town in Nashville as Marc-Alan Barnette the independent musician at places like Whiskey Bent Saloon, The BlueBird Cafe, and The Commodore Bar and Grill, among many others. If you are really lucky, you might have the opportunity to see Marc performing with Dangerous Dan and the Funk Town Horns, click here to go to the website and check the schedule. In 2000, after 12 years on the Nashville music scene, Marc continued to write music (as he does today) and added teaching as a Performer and Songwriting Coach to his already impressive resume. If you have interest in staking your claim in the Music City, reach out to Marc as he works with people like you by introducing you to the Music City Scene by providing tours and writers clinics. We hope you enjoy this interview with Marc, that brings you stories of his life, well lived in Nashville and the music business.Songs by Marc-Alan Barnette from this episode as well as video links to other recordings:At 9:49 in this episode hear and excerpt of "Can't Blame Nobody But Me".
Dallas and Camo discuss the hot topics about Country Music, Nashville, and the Country Music Lifestyle. Singer/songwriter Scott Southworth is the interview guest this week.
"I write songs. I like pie. I play Larrivee Guitars. I really like pie." - That's his version of a bio...lazy jacknut! Originally hailing from the great Pacific Northwest, Scott is an award winning Nashville based performing singer/songwriter, a Top 40 charting recording artist in Europe and the creator/co-host of Radio/TV's "The Music Row Show", heard in 38 states via the historic 650AM, WSM and from 2012-2016 was seen nationwide on the BlueHighways TV network. Scott is proud to be an endorsed Larrivee Guitar artist and is excited to be a 2018 Durango Boots Ambassador. He performs regularly in Nashville at the Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner and the Commodore Grille as well as house concerts and many songwriting festivals around the country and overseas. Scott has been a featured performer on RFD TV's nationally televised "Market Day Report", the nationally syndicated "Chico & B-Man" Television Show and has been a featured artist on WSM Radio's "Coffee, Country & Cody", "Nashville Today w/Devon O Day", "The Allnighter" with Marcia Campbell, "Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree", Knoxville's "The Writers Block", several performances on WDVX's "Blue Plate Special" and "Tennessee Shines" as well as many other local TV and Radio programs across the US.
In this episode we're featuring a sensational album from Nashville-based songsmith Scott Southworth: "Hey Hillbilly Singer!" (2018). After playing in bands of every other genre, he made the full time move to country music and moved from his native Oregon to Music City to pitch songs to guys in suits in 2004. Achieving more than a few cuts over the years, for this album he's rounded up some of his musician friends (incidentally some of the best in the world, period) and recorded eleven tracks, all from his own pen. Highlights include the wonderful tribute to his wife of twenty five years in "Put Another Quarter In The Ride", the defiant "I Ain't Leaving Town", the barroom weeper "Cigar Store Indian" and the oh-too-true "Nobody Leaves This World Alive". This whole album sounds to me like Scott Southworth is just having a great time: unshackled from major label pressure or expectation, making the music he wants to make. And luckily for us, that music just so happens to be solid gold traditional country music. Bravo.
