The Steve Weatherford Show | The Secrets To A High Performance Life
LINK TO THE FREE 3 Day "Become The CEO Of Your Life" Leadership Summit Below! https://apply.freedomtransformation.com/challenge-6102 In this episode of the Steve Weatherford Show, I bring in one of my favorite men who I've had the privilege to disciple, and mentor, Jim Parker. You'll see that at one point in his life before he started walking with God and Champions In Christ Ministry, he was addicted to comfort, and it caused a downward spiral of drinking the pain away, excessively sports betting, almost losing his business, and not being the best husband or father he could be. But when he fully gave his life to Jesus at a secular business conference that I spoke at, his life has completely turned around, by the grace of God, he's become the husband and father that his family needed, his business has exploded after starting to honor God in it, he's sober, and has quit bad financial habits and is now currently working on getting in the best shape of his life.

This week, we checked in with our friend for his sequel episode, the Ramblin' Man himself, Jim Parker. We talked about what's been going on with his brand, @tazewellclothes, we learn the trials and tribulations of making clothes in the USA, the day-to-day life of a working musician, his signature guitar tone, music gear, the Solar Eclipse, making the perfect OCBD; and also talk a little shit about a certain book. All this, and more, coming at you in this great conversation.
Larry Oslund joins us from his Hilton Head headquarters to talk about his recent trip to Romania and his video tour of the Velomobile World factory. He takes us all around the facility then shows us a close up view as his personal Bülk is being built on the floor. Larry is now a Velomobile World dealer and is offering velos along side Cruzbikes for test rides and sales. Another of Larry's passions is ultra racing. We talk about his personal accomplishments and his new forays into resurrecting failed races around the country starting with Sebring and Calvin's Challenge. Last year Larry built a massive addition to his house to make room for the Cruzeum. This large structure over his garage now houses over 30 historical Cruzbikes and Cruzbike paraphernalia. We have a look at this new room as we talk to Cruzbike founders Maria and Jim Parker who join Larry for our final chat segment.00:00:00 Intro00:00:51 What's on Today's Show00:02:45 Panel Introduction00:04:50 Sponsor Introduction00:07:40 Larry Oslund-Getting involved with velomobiles00:11:00 Tour of the Velomobile World Factory in Romania00:22:25 Larry's personal experience with his new Bulk velomobile (Police Stop)00:30:00 Larry talks about starting a recumbent bike shop00:38:45 Larry chats about Ultra Racing and resurrecting Sebring and Calvin's Challenge races00:52:10 Larry future plans for a wind tunnel00:56:13 Cruzbike Museum highlights01:06:11 We visit with Cruzbike founders Jim and Maria Parker for company update01:27:25 Viewer Submissions-Beautiful LBR wooden plaque by Dennis Wells 01:28:40 Sponsor Thanks01:31:00 Announcements01:33:40 Goodbye to panel and crewPlease subscribe to us on YouTube (https://goo.gl/CHOOgX) and Like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/laidbackbikereport/) if you haven't already done so. On January 19th of 2001, a man named Andrew Patti was relaxing in his vacation home in Vermont, just over the New Hampshire border, a little past 10 pm, with his son, Andy when he heard a knock on the door. Before him stood two teenage boys who asked if they could come inside and use the phone, since their car needed a jump. Sensing something was off, Andrew said no, but that he would call someone for them and shut the door. When he went upstairs, he grabbed the phone, and, smartly, his gun. It was then that he realized the boys had cut his phone lines. Not wanting to go back outside, he held his son and his gun until the wee morning hours when the boys finally left. The boys were Robert Tulloch, 17, and Jim Parker, 16, from Chelsea, New Hampshire. The boys were misfits who decided to leave town and start careers as assasins in Australia. To do so, they needed $10,000. To get the money, they decided they needed to rob houses in which wealthy inhabitants lived. They also wanted to kill said inhabitants, simply for the thrill of it. Their plan failed with Andrew Patti, so they tried the house of well-liked and renowned German professors at Dartmouth, Half and Suzanne Zantop. And on the morning of Saturday, January 27t, 2001, they put their devastating and murderous plan into action.Show Notes: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/604620.Judgment_Ridge

Within a year after getting his first guitar donated by his sister's boyfriend, Jimmy Gilmer of Sugar Shack fame, Jim Parker was playing in a band and later became a founding member of The Illusions that landed a record deal with Dot Records. In 1966 he and his buddies decided to leave their hometown of Amarillo, Texas, and head to Los Angeles. During that time, The Illusions became “The Kitchen Cinq” recording with Lee Hazelwood's LHI label for three years. This later led to jobs with other recording bands like Armageddon and THEM (post Van Morrison) with some studio work with Sonny and Cher and various recording artists on the side. Fifty years later, on August 28, 2015, AceRecords of the UK and its affiliate US label Light in the Attic Records released “The Kitchen Cinq, When the Rainbow Disappears”, as an anthology complete with a booklet of photos and history of the band.Moving to Nashville in 1975 was the beginning of another serendipitous phase of Jim's career where he met a young John Anderson and began writing successful chart songs. Jim Parker grew up an Air Force brat. When the time came for him to join the service during the Vietnam War, he chose the same branch as his father. Despite being raised to know all things Air Force, his assigned role in the war was not one he had ever heard of. While his comrades in arms fought VC and NVA, Jim's adversaries were much smaller and more pervasive: mosquitoes.

In this episode of the podcast "Unlocking Your World of Creativity," Mark interviews Dan Rockwell, author of the upcoming book "The Vagrant: The Inner Journey of Leadership." The interview begins with Mark sharing his personal reaction to the book, noting how it unexpectedly struck a personal chord right from the third page. The conversation delves into the profound nature of leadership as a personal journey, drawing insights from conversations Dan had with influential leaders like Jim Parker, Francis Haine, and Harry Kramer. These conversations led Dan to realize that leadership is about becoming oneself, a transformative and often elusive task for high-performing individuals. Mark also highlights Warren Bennis' quote on the simplicity and difficulty of becoming oneself.Dan explains the significance of the book's title, "The Vagrant," which refers to being blown off course, both in terms of a bird's migration and an individual's journey in leadership. He shares how high performers can sometimes lose sight of themselves and struggle to find their way back on track. The interview touches upon Dan's diverse background, including degrees in theology and ministry, as well as construction and design, and how these areas overlap in the realm of leadership. Mark further explores the commonalities among Dan's varied clientele, ranging from Chick-fil-A to the National Institutes of Health and Royal Caribbean. The conversation then shifts to the creative process behind the book and Dan's collaboration with co-author John David Mann, known for his work on "The Go-Giver." Drawing inspiration from classic parable books, the authors chose a storytelling approach to convey their leadership insights. Dan expresses his gratitude for working with BenBella Books and their valuable contribution to the project. The interview concludes with Dan sharing a leadership insight for individuals who may think they are getting promoted but could potentially face termination. The book will be released in September 2023 and is currently available for pre-order.Overall, the interview explores the personal and collaborative aspects of leadership and creativity, shedding light on the inner journey of leaders and the importance of self-discovery.Dan's Website Dan on YouTube @leadership_freak on Instagram Copyright 2023 Mark Stinson

This 2023 season will be the 50th anniversary of Rio Hondo Prep's first CIF Championship in school history. Back in 1973, the Kares were coming off of a heartbreaking Runner Up finish the year prior where they scored more touchdowns than the team that beat them. They played Six Man Football in those days, but the program has come a long way since then. Today, we are joined by three members of that team who still cherish hanging that first banner for Rio Hondo Prep. Our special guests are John Martin, Charlie Parsons, and Jim Parker. A half-century is a long time, but we will never forget the men who laid the foundation of RHP Football. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/a-charge-to-keep/message

Bryant McKinnie was one of the most dominating offensive linemen in Miami Hurricanes history. He came to The U from Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton, Pa. after playing defensive end and lettering in track at Woodbury (N.J.) High School. A Consensus All-America in 2001, he joined UMSHoF member Russell Maryland as the only Hurricanes to win the coveted Outland Trophy, given to the nation's top interior lineman. He also won the Jim Parker award, given to the top offensive lineman, and was named the CNN/Sports Illustrated Player of the Year. McKinnie was a unanimous First team All-BIG EAST selection and finished 8th in the Heisman Trophy balloting, with 26 first place votes. McKinnie, who never allowed a sack during his college career, anchored the Canes offensive line that averaged 5.3 yards per rushing attempt and 43 points per game on the way to an undefeated season and the National Championship. As a junior in 2000, he was named a unanimous All BIG EAST selection and first team All American by the Football News. He made a name for himself in Miami's 27-24 victory over archrival Florida State by shutting down the Noles' Jamal Reynolds, the eventual Lombardi Award winner, to just one assisted tackle in the game. Bryant graduated from Miami Summa Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. He was a first-round pick (7th overall) in the 2002 NFL Draft by Minnesota and spent 9 seasons with the Vikings, being selected for the 2009 Pro Bowl. In 2011, he joined fellow inductee Ed Reed and 2006 inductee Ray Lewis with the Baltimore Ravens. On January 9, 2023, Bryant was named a member of the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2023. Any country fan knows that the best country music comes out of real-life experiences, and that is exactly where this vibrant country artist draws her inspiration for her music. With her talent and a gift for creating raw and real music, Molly Lovette is winning the hearts of country listeners everywhere.Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Molly and her two siblings grew up in a very close-knit family. Deep rooted in tradition and faith, Molly attended Catholic grade school and then an all-girls Catholic High School – the same one that her grandmother, her mother, her five cousins, and her younger sister all attended. However, music was another tradition that the family passed along to their children as well. Molly's mother was always playing music throughout the house when she was young, and her grandmother was known to write music and always sing to her. In 1953, the city of Baltimore was awarded a new National Football League franchise. The team was nicknamed the Colts, the second pro football club to bear that name in a seven-year period. Earlier in 1947, a Baltimore Colts team was founded in the All-America Football Conference. Three years later, as part of the peace agreement between the AAFC and NFL, the Colts became an NFL member. But this venture failed and the franchise was disbanded after the 1950 season. However, Baltimore was presented with a second chance for an NFL team three seasons later when the Dallas Texans franchise was cancelled by the league. NFL Commissioner Bert Bell challenged the city to sell 15,000 season tickets within six weeks. The successful sale took just over four weeks and, on January 23, 1953, Carroll Rosenbloom became the principal owner of the new Baltimore Colts. In 1954, Weeb Ewbank was named the Colts' head coach and he began a steady building program that put his team over .500 for the first time in 1957. The Colts didn't have another losing season for the next 14 years. Powered by a sensational young quarterback, Johnny Unitas, and a strong supporting cast that included such future Pro Football Hall of Famers as Artie Donovan, Gino Marchetti, Raymond Berry, Lenny Moore and Jim Parker, the Colts won NFL championships in both 1958 and 1959 and again in 1968. The 1958 NFL title clash against the New York Giants, played before the largest television audience ever up to that time, did much to increase fan enthusiasm for pro football. With Unitas craftily engineering long drives that led to the tying field goal and winning touchdown, the Colts won 23-17 in overtime. Both the Colts and Ewbank were involved in a second game 10 years later that would share ranking as a pivotal game in creating far-reaching fan enthusiasm. The game was Super Bowl III and the Ewbank-led New York Jets stunned the heavily-favored Colts 16-7. Under Don Shula, who replaced Ewbank in 1963, the Colts won NFL Western conference championships in 1964 and 1968. Shula moved to Miami in 1970 but the Colts, who had moved to the new American Football Conference at the time of the merger, won the first AFC Eastern division title and Super Bowl V. Robert Irsay, who acquired the Los Angeles Rams franchise in 1972, engineered an historic trade of teams with Carroll Rosenbloom that year. Twelve years later on March 28, 1984, Irsay moved the Colts to Indianapolis, where they now play in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Adam opens the show discussing with Mark why his Paul Newman documentary (Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman) not getting into Sundance which leads to a discussion of the genesis of the perception that Adam is racist and homophobic. This leads Mark into telling a story about a racist attorney he had worked with in the past who, likely as a result of his racism, was a wunderkind when it came to jury selection.
