Bitcoin has dominated headlines, sparked political debates, and divided opinions. Through all the noise, one fact remains: it's been one of the best-performing asset classes of the past decade—but for many, the real significance of this technology is still just starting to sink in. In this episode of Object Subject Form, Simon sits down with Valko, friend, fellow CryptoPunk, and newly appointed Chief of Staff at World Liberty Financial—a decentralized finance platform launched in 2024 to simplify access to digital assets and crypto-backed financial tools. Known for his unwavering conviction in blockchain technology, Valko has gone all in on crypto—an investment stance most financial advisors would call extreme. But what drives this level of conviction? And what lessons can be drawn from it as Bitcoin continues to outperform nearly every traditional asset class over the past decade? Together, they break down the fundamental reasons why Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies matter, why these technologies remain central to conversations about financial sovereignty and technological evolution, and how they may play a pivotal role in shaping the next decade of global economics. Whether listeners are crypto-curious or already deep in the space, this conversation offers perspective on why it's no longer a question if they should pay attention. For anyone with eyes to see, it's no secret the world is changing at a rapid rate these days. From political hysteria, to new technology emerging almost daily, it's safe to say that it's easier than ever to feel overwhelmed while simultaneously doing your best to keep up. In my opinion, one of the most important & powerful aspects of the new world that we can take the initiative to dive into is the aspect of decentralization. From medicine, to currency, community & more, it's clear to me that if we want to get back to a world where health is truly about healing, rather than sick-care & money is truly about freedom, rather than dependence & imprisonment, than we must start looking at ways to become more & more decentralized from the centralized powers that have wreaked havoc over the lives of many in the world today. Today's guest on the show is a returning guest & a brother who is at the cutting edge of the decentralization movement. Over the last 2 years, he has taught me a lot about how to navigate within this space & in this episode, we allowed the divine to take the wheel & went on an epic conversational dialogue on what these 2 years have looked like for each of us, what he sees the future looking like, what you can do to get involved & much, much more. In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, Stewart Alsop welcomes John Hyde, founder of Turf, to discuss the fascinating intersection of decentralized technology and virtual worlds. This evolved into Turf, a decentralized platform where users can create, customize, and explore virtual spaces, reflecting the ethos of the Urbit ecosystem.Urbit as a Decentralized Platform: Urbit is not just another computing platform; it represents a complete reimagining of the internet's infrastructure. John explains how Urbit aims to replace the current centralized internet model with a decentralized one, giving users more control over their data and interactions. This decentralized nature is what makes platforms like Turf possible, where users can interact and transact without relying on centralized servers.Challenges in Hoon Programming: John discusses the unique challenges of programming in Hoon, Urbit's native language. While Hoon offers powerful capabilities for building secure and efficient applications, it also presents a steep learning curve, particularly due to its unconventional syntax and limited documentation. Despite these challenges, John sees potential in Hoon for creating robust, decentralized applications.Orthodox Christianity and Modern Technology: John, who was born and raised in the Orthodox Christian faith, touches on the interesting trend of Westerners converting to Orthodox Christianity. He connects this to a broader search for truth and tradition in a fragmented, digital world, seeing parallels between the decentralized, self-sovereign nature of Urbit and the spiritual grounding provided by his faith.Building a Business on Urbit: John is optimistic about Turf's business potential, particularly through the sale of virtual items. He envisions a marketplace within Turf where users can trade items, leveraging the decentralized nature of Urbit to ensure authenticity and ownership. This business model reflects the growing interest in digital ownership and NFTs in virtual environments. The Future of Urbit: John is hopeful but cautious about the future of Urbit. He believes that while the technology has the potential to revolutionize the internet, its success depends on continued innovation, improved usability, and sustained financial support. He also emphasizes the need for more user-friendly applications like Turf to drive adoption. The Cultural Impact of Urbit: The conversation highlights how Urbit is fostering a new kind of online community, where quality interaction and thoughtful engagement are prioritized over mass adoption. John observes that while the Urbit community is still relatively small, it is growing steadily, attracting people who value the platform's decentralized principles and the opportunity to participate in building a new internet paradigm.

When it comes to NFTs and blockchain gaming, very few companies can rival with Animoca Brands' early conviction, investment thesis and time horizon. In today's digital age, streaming platforms have taken center stage, but are they really the best way to enjoy your favorite TV shows and movies? In this episode, I explain why I'm an advocate of physical media, now more than ever. With streaming platforms, no TV show or movie seems safe. They can be pulled from the catalog at any moment, leaving you without access to your beloved content. Even if you "buy" a digital copy on platforms like YouTube, iTunes, or Amazon, you're only licensing it, and when that license expires, so does your access. Physical media offers a tangible way to ensure you can watch and rewatch your favorite content without the uncertainty of digital licensing. Join the conversation and share your thoughts on the future of media ownership in the digital era. Don't forget to subscribe for more! Lastly, check out http://philsvitek.com for more resources.

Derral Eves is the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of "The Chosen" TV series, which was crowd-funded. He is a passionate entrepreneur who builds an audience to support his projects. He believes creating a shareable brand with a clear vision, mission, and purpose is crucial for success. Derral started in agency work in 1999, helping businesses be found online. He then shifted to creating content on YouTube, which has garnered over 91 billion views. He will also host the Vid Summit in October where content creators will learn the business side and help them leverage the opportunities in the content economy. Derral's future focuses on localizing "The Chosen" and getting it out to the world. We'd like to introduce Seth Taylor, the Chief Experience Officer of Angel Studios. When asked about the company's origins, Seth explains that the Harmond brothers began with a content filtering service but quickly expanded into producing new content. Angel Studios operates on a "pay it forward" system to finance its projects and allows viewers to purchase tickets for others to stream "The Chosen" show. Seth emphasizes that Angel Studios values comments and feedback to create fresh content that aligns with its mission to promote positive stories. The company engages its audience, supporters, and investors through a crowd-sourced strategy and asks two crucial questions: "Does this story spread positivity?" and "How much would you regret it if this movie never came to fruition?" In addition to "The Chosen," Angel Studios offers other programs and movies, including "Sound of Freedom," which was crowdsourced. Seth Taylor leads the product team in expanding the app's reach and handles marketing. The company has also designed digital collectibles for crowdfunding contributors, offering fans digital ownership of a specific scene's frame. Anyone can view the scene or frame by pausing on it. Derral Eves, the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of "The Chosen" TV series, was recently welcomed by Entrepreneur. During the interview, he shared his passion for entrepreneurship and his goal of creating an audience that would appreciate like-minded films. He emphasized the importance of engaging the audience and creating shareable, intentional content that defines the brand. Derral's vision was to translate his mission and purpose into the TV show, with the audience being the top priority. He believed that the viewers' engagement could become a social army that would promote the show and become an engine for its success. Derral started his journey in the agency in 1999, where he helped businesses be found online. He had a passion for creating commercials from a young age, but his path led him to YouTube, where he learned about embedding videos onto websites. He then began creating commercial content for over 800 clients, utilizing YouTube for web design. He eventually shifted his focus to creating content on YouTube that people would talk about, resulting in over 91 billion views of content he made. Derral's mission is to help other entrepreneurs leverage the creator economy before losing the opportunity. He is hosting the Vid Summit in October, which is the business side of the creator economy for content creators who post anywhere online. It is a platform to help budding entrepreneurs with content as a part of their strategy and to help them leverage the opportunity. Next Entrepreneur recently featured Seth Taylor, Chief Experience Officer at Angel Studios. Angel Studios was founded by the Harmond brothers, who created a content filtering service that allows users to remove inappropriate content from existing movies. However, they realized that producing new content and telling stories could be a more effective way to engage audiences. To raise funds, Angel Studios employs a "pay it forward" approach, wherein people can purchase tickets for others to watch their programs and movies. The Chosen was originally behind a paywall, but its popularity made it available to a larger audience through monetary donations that allowed others to stream it. Angel Studios collaborates with its audience through its crowd-sourced program, The Gild, which asks two questions: Does the story amplify light, and how disappointed would you be if this film was not made? Feedback and comments from the audience are used to create new content. Angel Studios is a platform that promotes stories of light and also offers collectibles to those who have crowd-funded. These collectibles provide digital ownership of a particular frame from a favorite scene, allowing users to share why they chose that scene and what it means. As Chief Experience Officer, Seth Taylor helps the product team to market their app and reach a wider audience. NFTs are constantly evolving and finding new meaningful uses beyond the digital world. Erick Calderon is confident that generative minting can achieve this objective in the most attractive way possible. Taking over the stage at Outer Edge LA, the Founder of Art Blocks and Creator of Chromie Squiggles discusses the concept of 1of1ofx which allows an algorithm to seemingly produce unlimited output, thus boosting the power and impact of generative minting. He also presents different kinds of generative art that could highly benefit from this strategy, helping in the mass adoption of digital art and ownership.
