Treevenge depicts Christmas from the perspective of sentient Christmas trees. After being hacked down and shipped to homes, they are subject to "humiliation" by humans, who decorated them and make them stand in their living rooms. The Christmas trees have had enough, and go on to massacre and kill an entire town as part of their uprising. Treevenge is a short film written and directed by Jason Eisener, and produced by Yer Dead Productions. Shooting started in November 2007, and ended in February 2008. Post-production was completed in June 2008. The film stars Jonathan Torrens, Sarah E. Dunsworth, Lex Gigeroff, Molly Dunsworth, Glenn Matthews, and Kristin Slaney. Your work may not have given you a Christmas bonus, but we sure will! Merry Christmas, Everybody! Today is our annual On the Mic Christmas Episode! Since moving to Los Angeles our Christmas Episode has changed a little, but it's still a bunch of holiday cheer and nonsensical ramblings. While Austin heads back to Utah for Christmas, Tim will be enjoying a lovely sunny Los Angeles Christmas. On the episode, we talked about our Christmas plans, new movies out for Christmas, our annual Christmas treat, gift exchange, giving back not just during the holidays, but all year, and so much more. Of course the Christmas Episode wouldn't be complete without Christopher James calling in with his terrible Christmas Horror Movie recommendation. This year's pick was "Santa Claws", with the honorable mention going to the short film, "Treevenge". See the trailers on the website. We hope that you are having a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season with your family and loved ones. Thank you for your support this year. Stay tuned for our New Years Episode next week! Merry Christmas! Enjoy the episode!

Argyle is playing 'Christmas' music in the limo. They debate cutting power to a portion of the city because it is Christmas. The thieves did not pick that day at random. Christmas is a plot point to the film. It COULD have been written for John to have come to L.A. to see his family for Holly's birthday, or for his kid's school recital, but then it loses something for the plot. Could 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' work as a Christmas movie instead of Thanksgiving? Yes, but it would lose something that Thanksgiving gives to that movie. If the genre (including a holiday) has a plot point to the film, and taking it away lessens the film, then I THINK it's reasonable to count it as part of the film's description. For these reasons, I think that Die Hard is a Christmas movie. If others feel it isn't, I'm cool with that, as long as they are OK with me thinking that it is.” New Segment: Jacob decides what is and isn't a Christmas movie: /Film Daily listener Cade wrote in asking if Batman Returns is a Christmas movie The Sound of Music Lethal Weapon Casablanca The Night Before Home Alone 2: Lost In New York Eyes Wide Shut Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Serendipity You've Got Mail Trading Places Catch Me If You Can Go Rocky IV Life of Brian Love Actually All the other stuff you need to know: You can find more about all the stories we mentioned on today's show at slashfilm.com, and linked inside the show notes. /Film Daily is published every weekday, bringing you the most exciting news from the world of movies and television as well as deeper dives into the great features from slashfilm.com. The second film is a short movie titled Treevenge from 2008. They also discuss their favorite Christmas movies, the newly released Krampus, and reflect on the last year of the podcast. We hope you enjoy and be sure to contact us about any ideas for the Stannys or favorite moments from the last year.

16 min - Short | Comedy | Horror Christmas trees have been subject to the process of planting and harvesting for decades. It is a practice that needs to stop. At least that is what the trees think. This brings forth a march of destruction wherein every human being within sight of these noble pines will be grotesquely butchered. With the blood and flesh from grannies and babies alike, these creatures bring you gore and carnage en masse!

How awesome would it be if Dread Media rang in the New Year with any of the following: naked space vampire babes, a man French kissing Patrick Stewart while he has a seizure, homicidal Christmas trees, or Eighties glam rock stars playing with children's toys? How about ringing the New Year in with all of them? Oh yeah! This week, Desmond and Darryll sit down to review the Tobe Hooper-directed, Dan O'Bannon-scripted masterpiece Lifeforce, then the duo talks about Jason Eisener's short film "Treevenge," and Desmond embarks on a new segment that is sure to kill him where he stands when he discusses Phil Lewis' (L.A. Guns) first film role in Witchmaster General. Send feedback to: feedback@dreadmedia.net, or 206.203.1233.
