Chinesen oder auch Finnen sind optimistische Gesellschaften. „Ist Pessimismus eine typische deutsche Befindlichkeit?“ fragt Markus Lanz. „Moralismus und Schwarzseher ist mit der deutschen Seele sehr verknüpft“, meint Richard David Precht. „Deutsche haben eine hohe Intoleranz gegenüber Unsicherheit,“ so erklärt es die Politologin Gaub. Wir müssen mehr „über das Tun nachdenken“, denn Zukunft, so Gaub, ist vor allem ein Gefühl.
