Today's conversation is with Connor Beaton. Connor is a men's life coach, founder of ManTalks and an author focusing on men's wellness and personal growth. The modern narrative for men is confusing with conflicting messages around opening up about our struggles all while being a stoic man and having your shit together. Expect to learn why all work starts in pain, the one rule of men, why there is a delta between society's expectations and men's realities, the myth of male vulnerability, successful mechanisms for real change, and the key steps Connor took to unfuck his life. I've followed Connor's work closely for over 18 months and know he has such strong contributions to the discussion and, of course, the actions around a better future for men, their wellbeing and lives. It was a privilege to host Connor on the show and I hope you all get huge value from the insights in the next hour. If you did, please take the time to share this episode with a friend, we really do grow and make an impact one recommendation at a time. Today's podcast is supported and sponsored by Clean Foods Meal Prep. The removal of over 90 minutes of cooking and meal prep each week has been a big win for me, while the meals are tastier and more varied ingredients than I would manage cooking them myself. What does it mean to be a man today? How do young men carve out their place in a world that often feels uncertain about their role? These aren't just abstract ideas but real questions that impact the lives of many men. Masculinity has been celebrated and criticized throughout history. Nowadays, men are encouraged to be open, emotionally expressive, and nurturing partners and fathers. Connor Beaton shares his life experiences, lessons, and advice to future leaders. Teenage life is simply the gateway to adulthood. As they learn the reality that living is not as easy as it is, it is up to them whether they will grow as a person or stay within the confines of their imagination. Tune in as young leaders ask questions about life, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and more! Quotes: "A man's work begins in pain. It's in the confrontation of our deepest struggles that we discover our true strength." – Connor Beaton "Confidence and competence are deeply intertwined. To build true self-esteem, focus on developing skills and mastery in areas that matter to you." – Connor Beaton "Simplicity is almost always the answer." – Matt Beaudreau Takeaways: Celebrate your unique experiences and viewpoints, even if they differ from the norm. Your differences can be your biggest strengths. Face your flaws and insecurities directly; this leads to personal growth and authenticity. Look for mentors and apprenticeships to build skills and abilities before trying to assist others. Set your standards and expectations for relationships instead of relying on societal norms or unrealistic ideals. Value loyalty, appreciate masculinity, and keep a grounded view of a potential partner. Explore new activities and follow your curiosity to find your true passions and potential. Be patient and persistent in creating long-term value and impact instead of looking for quick fixes or shortcuts. This method will lead to meaningful and lasting success. Conclusion: The journey to becoming a man is challenging but very fulfilling. Men can build an authentic and empowering sense of self by facing difficulties, gaining skills, being open, valuing loyalty, and questioning societal expectations. As we rethink what it means to be a man, voices like Connor's highlight the importance of personal growth and self-discovery in this ongoing journey.

Connor reveals how to have these tough conversations here… (24:43) How your inner dialogue shatters your confidence, fills you with shame, and traps you in isolation (29:05) Do you feel like you're on a roller coaster of self-destruction? In episode 238 of The Super Human Life podcast, host Frank Rich interviews Connor Beaton, founder of ManTalks. This conversation explores the reasons why men hit rock bottom and the challenges they face in vulnerability and authenticity. It also delves into the concept of high status in men and the impact of pornography on their lives. The conversation provides insights into building supportive networks, setting boundaries, and overcoming porn addiction. Overall, it emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to men's struggles. In this conversation, Connor Beaton discusses the importance of regulating energy and emotions, the power of transparency, and resources for personal growth. Takeaways Men hit rock bottom due to a lack of initiatory experiences, unaddressed trauma, and trading authenticity for a sense of belonging. Vulnerability for men is complex, as they navigate societal expectations and conflicting messages about its importance. Building a supportive network of men is crucial for emotional support and personal growth. Creating authenticity and setting boundaries are essential for men to live in alignment with their values. The concept of high status in men goes beyond financial success and includes social coherence and emotional intelligence. Pornography can have a detrimental impact on men's lives, affecting their relationships, impulse control, and nervous system regulation. Overcoming porn addiction requires self-awareness, breathwork, meditation, and finding healthier ways to regulate emotions. Paying attention to the teachings of pornography can reveal unmet needs and desires that can be addressed in healthier ways. Learning to regulate energy and emotions is essential for personal growth. Transparency builds character and courage, and helps us confront our insecurities and fears. Having a space for transparent conversations with others is invaluable for personal development. Seeking resources such as books, podcasts, and workshops can support personal growth and self-improvement. -- Follow & Connect with Connor: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mantalks/ Website - https://mantalks.com/ Book (Men's Work) - https://amzn.to/42z9oPW Connect with Frank and The Super Human Life on Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachfrankrich/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/584284948647477/ Website: http://www.thesuperhumanlifepodcast.com/tshlhome YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjB4UrpxtNO2AFtDURMzo

He integrates Jungian psychology and somatic therapy into his coaching and speaking engagements In this episode of the Dad Edge podcast, host Larry Hagner and guest Connor Beaton talk about the power of voice in conveying emotions and creating a comfortable environment for effective communication. They discuss how slowing down speech and being mindful of tone can reduce anxiety and improve relationships. Connor Beaton shares his expertise in voice training and music, explaining how a person's voice can reflect their internal state. He suggests that speaking quickly or in a high-pitched tone can be indicative of anxiety or discomfort. The conversation also extends to the impact of voice in parenting and marriage. Connor Beaton emphasize how their calm demeanor and voice can influence the behavior and emotions of their children and partners. They note that when they are calm, their children and partners also tend to be calm. The shadow is the psychological energy that's working against you to shut off the pathways towards your goals, aims, and the changes and the love that you want. We need to invite in the intelligence to work with us, to build a relationship with it so it's not working against us but with us. And when we start to do that, we start to expand consciously and create sovereignty internally.” – Connor Beaton 541 Genetic Liberation: How To Increase Your Vitality With The Secrets of “MANNA” Unlocked “There are 118 elements on the periodic table and within a MANNA sachet, we have all of the most vital parts of these 118 elements. If you think of it as the keys on a piano, we can play the best song as a biological expression if we have access to all of those keys. If we only have access to 20 keys, then there are going to be areas of our expression that are compromised. Studies show that those elements are no longer in our food because they are no longer in our soil. We're giving the body the building blocks of organic food. If you're deficient, if you don't have access to them, part of your expression is going to be deficient.” – David Reid 555 Mike Dillard | Richer Every Day: How To WIN The War on Your Money + Mind “If you don't have a plan for your money, it will fall under the hands of someone who does have plans for your money. They have not only plans for your money but also some of the smartest people on the planet whose full-time job is to figure out how to extract your money from your hands and put it into theirs.” – Mike Dillard 525 Red Light Therapy For Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) | Brian Richards “Sun therapy is all about near-infrared. Do you want to be happy in the winter? What you're missing is not so much ultraviolet light, as it is the 70% of the sun which is near-infrared. Ultraviolet light is a double-edged sword; it's doing a lot of good for the body such as helping Vitamin D production but it also ionizes radiation which rips apart your DNA.” – Brian Richards 593 Nootropics Masterclass: How To Be Healthy, Fit + Wealthy With New Brain/Body Science (At Any Age) “Nootropics affect neurochemicals that are available in your gut: serotonin, adrenaline, norepinephrine, and dopamine. They activate certain neurochemical processes in the brain, and they also provide the raw products so that your brain can create the neurochemicals necessary. They also support neurogenesis which is the blooming and creation of new neurons.” – Mark Effinger Leave Wellness + Wisdom a Review on Apple Podcasts Links From Today's Show Store Power vs. Force by David Hawkins 509 Connor Beaton: Self-Discovery Through Shadow Work + How To Find The Perfect Partner 541 Genetic Liberation: How To Increase Your Vitality With The Secrets of “MANNA” Unlocked 555 Mike Dillard | Richer Every Day: How To WIN The War on Your Money + Mind SaunaSpace - 10% off with code "JOSH10" Nootopia - 10% off with code "JOSH10" 595 Relationship Death + Rebirth: How to Let Love Lead Again + Let Go of The Anxious-Avoidant Dance (Margo Running + Carrie Michelle) 591 Dr. John Lieurance | Biohacking Big Souls: How UFC Fighters + Big Wave Surfers Holistically Heal MitoZen - 10% off with code "WELLNESSFORCE" 532 Molly Maloof MD: The Spark Factor | Biohacking For Women Liberated Love: Release Codependent Patterns and Create the Love You Desire by Mark Groves Liberated Life - Join the Community BREATHE PROGRAM - Use code "PODCAST33" for 33% off Josh's Trusted Products | Up To 40% Off Shop All Products BREATHE - 33% off with the code “PODCAST33” SiPhox - 10% off with code "JOSH" Holy Hydrogen - $100 off with code "JOSH" Myoxcience - Save 20% with code "JOSH20" SinuSonic - 15% off with "JOSH15" Organifi - 20% off with the code ‘WELLNESSFORCE' QI-Shield EMF Device - 20% off with the code "JOSH" SEED Synbiotic - 30% off with the code "JOSHTRENT" BON CHARGE - 15% off with the code "JOSH15" MANNA Vitality - 20% off with the code "JOSH20" SimplyO3 - 10% off with code "JOSH10" Kineon - 10% off with code "JOSH10" Mendi.io - 20% off with the code "JOSH20" Adapt Naturals - 15% off with code "WELLNESSFORCE" SpectraSculpt - 15% off with the code "JOSH15" SaunaSpace - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" Cured Nutrition CBD - 20% off with the code "WELLNESS FORCE" PLUNGE - $150 off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE" LiftMode - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" MitoZen - 10% off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” Paleovalley - 15% off with the link only NOOTOPIA - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" Activation Products - 20% off with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” SENSATE - $25 off with the code "JOSH25" BiOptimizers - 10% off with the code "JOSH10" ION - 15% off with the code ‘JOSH15' Feel Free from Botanic Tonics - $40 off with the code "WELLNESS40" Essential Oil Wizardry - Save 15% with "WELLNESSFORCE" ALIVE WATERS - 33% off your first order with the code "JOSH33" Earth Runners Shoes - 10% off with code "JOSH10" DRY FARM WINES - Get an extra bottle of Pure Natural Wine with your order for just 1¢ Drink LMNT - Zero Sugar Hydration: Get your free LMNT Sample Pack, with any purchase EnergyBITS - Save 20% with "WELLNESSFORCE" Create Wellness Creatine Gummies - Save 20% with "JOSH20" EQUIP Foods - Save 15% with code JOSH15 Free Resources M21 Wellness Guide - Free 3-Week Breathwork Program with Josh Trent Join Wellness + Wisdom Community MANNA Vitality The only supplement you will ever need. Connor Beaton is a men's life coach, founder of ManTalks and an author focusing on men's wellness and personal growth. Men are often told that their problems would be fixed if they stopped being so stoic. If only they ceased hiding their emotions and started being more vulnerable, their mental health would improve. But is this actually the case? Does the world actually want vulnerable men? Expect to learn whether men actually can show their vulnerability to the world, why a man's pain is so important for his growth, whether modern therapy is failing men, why men have so many surface level relationships, how men can embrace anger and take back control of their minds, why so many men gauge their worth on how their business and relationship are doing, and much more... I wrap up our series on…men. Manhood. I called it “The Place Of Man” because that seems to be the question these days…what is…the place of men? How should we view ourselves? We grew up with expectations that seem to have changed. Maybe for better. Maybe for worse. I think both. But I find more and more men who feel numb, ashamed, or just dissatisfied. And I could say floundering with who they are, but it may be just as much, who they feel they should be. I talked in depth with Connor Beaton, founder of ManTalks, an international organization focused on men's wellness, success, and fulfillment, author of Mens Work: A Practical Guide To Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, And Find Freedom and host of the Man Talks podcast. Then part three was with my great friend Dr Randy James. We got deep on the issues we are experiencing as men, and what we see in the culture. Here then are four main highlights I found from our conversations and my own pondering within them. I'll also share about an event I just returned from with 39 guys who did 40 miles of the Grand Teton Trail in one day. However, a growing movement of men is actively debunking these traditional notions, recognizing that true strength lies in authenticity and emotional openness. In this episode, I jam with my good buddies Stefanos, Connor, and Dan about masculinity. We share about our experiences as men growing up and in relationships, share revealing statistics about men today, explore male vulnerability and emotional authenticity, speak about our experiences in fatherhood, the impact of all of what men experience on their relationships and personal growth, and so much more. This is a jam-packed episode so sit back, grab a snack, and let's explore the multifaceted world of modern masculinity! We continue our talk on A Man's Place and I titled the show, Are We Having Fun Yet? How To Enjoy Life & Not Merely Survive It. My catalyst was Connor Beaton, founder of ManTalks, an international organization focused on men's wellness, success, and fulfillment, author of Mens Work: A Practical Guide To Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, And Find Freedom and host of the Man Talks podcast. Now I'm with Dr Randy James. Randy is truly my best friend and we've walked through life together for a good decade and a half. Randy and I started off discussing what the point is. When do we leave childhood and school and say, “Ok, I'm done having any fun and enjoying and experiencing this life, now I'll just be responsible and devote the rest of my days to the grind of life.?” That sounds exaggerated, but are we living lives that our kids or young people would be inspired to pursue? No wonder kids aren't leaving home soon these days. The point isn't just to have fun. I'd argue that pursuing great purpose and fulfillment eclipses mere fun. But should we truly enjoy our lives? Solomon in the Bible said, and I paraphrase, “I tried it all, all variations of life, and t's all vanity. Ultimately nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God.” So Randy and I have a candid talk about work and family and responsibility and finding true joy and tending to our hearts and souls, as men, but the message is relevant to all. I'm back with Connor Beaton. In the previous episode we talked about How To Embrace Manhood & Also Be Human, and in this episode we talk about what drives Connor personally. I start off with something he disclosed in his book, where he shared that an overall driving force for him is the reality that he has been abused, and he has abused. He has been hurt, and he has hurt and from this he discusses dark motivation and light motivation. So we dive deep quickly. Connor is founder of ManTalks, an international organization focused on men's wellness, success, and fulfillment. He is a coach, facilitator, teacher, podcast host and speaker helping men from all over the world find purpose, a joy-filled life, and a confident self identity, as a man. His new book is called Mens Work: A Practical Guide To Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, And Find Freedom. His popular podcast, which I was recently a guest on, is called Man Talks. We are talking about men. For those who grew up as boys and now live as men, you were raised in a social construct that had certain expectations. Times have changed and evolved, and some of those expectations have changed, but our programming never did. The result is we find ourselves in a culture where men are often confused, frustrated, ashamed, and dissatisfied. And that's not helping men, or anyone who comes into contact with them. This is not a call to masculinity. This is also not a call to immasculinity. It's a call to be an authentic and confident human. My expert is Connor Beaton. Connor is the founder of ManTalks, an international organization focused on men's wellness, success, and fulfillment. He is a coach, facilitator, teacher, podcast host and speaker helping men from all over the world find purpose, a joy-filled life, and a confident self identity, as a man. Connor has a no-BS approach coupled with compassionate understanding of our own human limitations. He has coached thousands of men through private coaching, group work, workshops, retreats and masterminds, and has shared the stage with world class speakers like Gary Vaynerchuk, Lewis Howes, Danielle LaPorte, and many more. I came to Connor through his wife, Vienna Pharaeon, a renowned therapist and recent guest here on the show as well. My muse for this series is Connor's new book, Mens Work: A Practical Guide To Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, And Find Freedom. His popular podcast, which I was recently a guest on, is called Man Talks. I brought Connor on because I am his target audience and I needed his insight and guidance. You're likely familiar with one of Kaitlyn's favorite guests, therapist Vienna Pharaon, but she's not the only brilliant mind in the family; in this episode, her husband Connor Beaton joins KB to talk all about his work which centers on helping men face and overcome their shadows. First, he dives into his life with wife Vienna and how they navigated having a baby, building a house, and each writing a book all at the same dang time. And speaking of having a child, Connor has some pretty impactful parenting advice that all of us can benefit from. Then, Connor explains how he arrived at his current career which came only after he reached rock bottom and moved towards all the things he had been avoiding. Transformation cannot happen without confrontation, and Connor explains how his book, podcast, and general work help men to confront their own truths, go beyond the surface level, and build relationships with their inner critics. His book not only helps men to learn and grow; all the women and anyone who is listening with questions about the men in their lives can learn from his messages and advice, so get ready for some major takeaways. How does your self-talk hold you back from being the person you want to be and how do you improve it? Why is it important to have groups solely for men to be men and talk about men's issues? Men and Self Development – 26:14 What is the most important thing men should focus on to achieve and maintain their happiness and fulfillment in life? The Secret to Non-Neediness in Relationships – 40:05 What are men lacking in their lives that lead them to be needy in romantic relationships, causing those relationships to fall apart? Initiation rituals have been used throughout history to help transition young boys into manhood. These rites of passage can teach us many things, but the most salient theme that remains is the need for men to face failure and powerlessness so as to enter manhood with a strong sense of self and humility. With positive self-talk we can stop ourselves from believing any false disclosures we face and learn how to think positively and productively. It is also important that men find male-only spaces where they can be men and talk about their issues. A Word From Our Sponsors Are you ready to take your career to the next level in 2023?
