Tim Hutchings is an award-winning artist and game designer best known for his game Thousand Year Old Vampire. He is also the creator of A Collection of Improving Exercises, Our Vacation, and many other games that explore the frontier of RPGs, games, and art. He's a soon-to-be-former university professor and closing up his art studio to focus on making games full time. I love games that do things in very unique ways that tie well with their themes. That explore spaces that haven't been explored or that look at old things a very different angle. Tim's games do all of that! Combining that with his academic background and knowledge, I knew there could be a lot we could learn from him in this episode. And that's what set out to do here, to explore a little bit of how Tim's process work, what inspires his work, what kind of weird things he is into and that kind of thins we love here. This was a tremendous episode. Tim shared a lot of wisdom, and made quite a few great jokes! Enjoy it! Listen up and get weird with us! [...] Joshua ... Qui es-tu ? Recorded at Metatopia Online 2021 Presented by Jason Morningstar, Tim Hutchings, Jeeyon Shim. Join us for a rollicking discussion of our worst habits and how being lazy, careless and hard-headed is often the best possible approach to game design. Do you design in layout? Is your playtest process a little shambolic? Do you cut corners and assume the math will all work out? If not, come and be outraged as we take a somewhat jaded approach to conventional wisdom you've heard a thousand times.

From Monday to Friday there will be a brand new episode talking to key figures of the events past and future as we look forward to the return of the Glastonbury of Athletics on May 14th. The Big Run is proudly supported for this special Run of podcasts by Like the Wind Magazine. Today's guest is athletics tv commentator and consultant, Brighton marathon founder and 1984 Olympian Tim Hutchings. Tim joined me and Arran Mcaskill at Ditchling Beacon in East Sussex. Instead, Like the Wind explores topics such as the environment, social issues (like racism or gender inequality), mental health and – quite often – the simple joy of running. Jack has represented England on the road, GB on the track and is currently running for the high achieving Cambridge & Coleridge club under the coaching of Mark Vile. Jack has PBs of 13.47 for 5km, 28.57 for 10km, 63.15 for the half-marathon and 2.20 for the marathon. In the pre-show Cat, Robbie, George and Ben discuss the latest race results including those from the European Indoors selection trials in Manchester and the subsequent team selection, some lightning quick 10,000m times at “THE TEN” in California and more races from around the world including some Brits in action at The Texas Qualifier. The team also cover the latest in the shoe debate which continues following some recent comments from Tim Hutchings in regards to Marc Scott as well as the "live-stream" debate following the lack of live coverage for the European Indoor Trials Event. Finally there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel for the return of non-elite racing and Park runs in the UK. Thanks for listening, we hope you enjoy.

We continue our annual tradition of bringing board game industry veteran Stephen Buonocore, now retired from Stronghold Games/Indie Game Studios and focusing on media and podcasting. We explore the bizarre, catastrophic year of 2020, and consider what's in store for us in 2021. In this episode I talk about Thousand Year Old Vampire, the self published game by Tim Hutchings. This very cool solo RPG won three Ennie awards this year! In it you play vampire struggling with the passage of time and how we remember things. It's an excellent game worth checking out, not just because of the unique gameplay, but also because of the excellent production quality. I quite like it. Well, we're back!!! For a one off...or maybe more, who knows! It was fantastic to speak to former WR holder Steve Cram and World Cross Country medalist, Tim Hutchings in this weeks special episode. We hope you all enjoy and we hope to come back with some more special one off episodes like this!

Southern Company brings you our Business of Sports Minute. Today we are joined by Tim Hutchings from NBC Sports.
How exposed am I? Assessing and managing risk within our farming systems. I love the principle that in order to succeed, it is the business with the most robust and strategic business model that gets the results. Often it is the quality of our business model and how we execute on this model that is the difference between the average and the top 20%. With this in mind, and based on your most recent years of performance, how robust and risk-aware is your business model? We operate in a unique climate, with unique economic factors, relative to farmers in other countries, and a high exposure to price variability and international markets. We operate businesses based on biological systems often exposed to the vagaries of our environments and the markets. In this podcast, I am pleased to interview my father, Tim Hutchings, and discuss risk and volatility in Australian Agriculture. We explore the importance of designing risk-aware and long-term sustainable farming systems that have inherent flexibility, focused on minimising losses as much as pursuing windfall profits. Dr. Tim Hutchings is a successful farmer and farm consultant in the Riverina, NSW. He is a Nuffield Scholar and Researcher and has recently completed his PhD analysing and (for the first time) quantifying risk and volatility of our farming systems. As we dust ourselves off from the challenges of a dry season, reflect and reset for a new season, I encourage you to use this podcast as your opportunity to deeply interrogate the appropriateness of your current farming system, and as a catalyst to ask better questions and consider making some deliberate and measured changes. Enjoy this podcast! Regards, Jeremy Hutchings

It looks like a very cool game that will bring another way to play first person with the lore. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/timh/thousand-year-old-vampire-a-roleplaying-game Sarah Michelle Gellar will be tapping into her roots as a commercial and horror-movie actress Sunday February 3rd with a premier of an Olay skin care commercial. The star of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the Grudge films is in Olay’s Killer Skin campaign. Teasers have shown Sarah at home under threat from a masked intruder. Will she have to fight, run, or just help them out with skincare? The teasers look pretty creepy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=18&v=UOMuwbTEzxI The Verge has confirmed that a new adaptation of The Stand is coming as a ten-part series on CBS All Access. A solid project with Stephen King himself excited and giving his full support, the undated project will be directed by Josh Boone with primary writing by Boone and Ben Cavell. It was previously done as an 8-hour miniseries on ABC in 1994, and Warner Brothers made a launch attempt some time ago that was to be directed by Boone but never went anywhere. This resurrection sounds like a sure thing. https://www.theverge.com/2019/1/30/18204443/stephen-king-the-stand-cbs-all-access-10-episode-miniseries And speaking of more Stephen King related news, the sequel to The Shining is set to be released from Warner Brothers November 8, 2019. Doctor Sleep will star Ewan McGregor as the adult Danny. Directed by Mike Flanagan who most recently brought us Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, the story is set years after the events at the Overlook when a damaged Danny with gifts dulled by age and alcohol becomes involved with a young girl coming to grips with a Shining of her own. The novel, released in 2013 is available if you want to check out the story ahead of time. Link: https://amzn.to/2Wxylck Or just wait to check it out in theaters. His blog gives a detailed account of how he did it, with plenty of photos. While it’s not quite practical or ready for mass production, it’s very awesome and looks great. John Anderson, who is familiar to many people as one of ESPN's longtime SportsCenter anchors, joins the CITIUS MAG Podcast. He is one of the voices of ESPN's broadcast for the New York City Marathon alongside Carrie Tollefson and Tim Hutchings. His voice will be familiar for years to come since New York Road Runners, WABC-TV, and ESPN extended their partnership to broadcast the New York City Marathon through the 2022 event. I met John for the first time when I was an intern at ESPN in 2014 and we've been friends ever since. We usually get together when he's in town for the marathon so I decided to ask him to come on the podcast. He said he was down so we chatted it up. John was a high jumper at Mizzou but he shares why his high school cross country team was his favorite, an epic tale from his first marathon and what are some of the challenges in covering track and field on TV for everyone. I've seen a lot of criticism of the ESPN broadcast on Twitter. Some of it is fair and for some other points, you may be able to better understand how a broadcast is run after you hear from John. Come for the sports media talk, stay for when John imagines what his call would be if I won the New York City Marathon. ------- This episode of the podcast is brought to you by Kudos.
