GUESTS:Luke: My coaching career started in skiing where I coached and instructed at levels ranging from beginners to 13-15 year old FIS ranked athletes. This passion to teach was also a natural progression, as I got more involved in triathlon. I started with triathlon coaching with my old team in Calgary. I helped out in this way for 5 years, as I was racing internationally and going to University. In 2007, I went to study in Boulder Colorado and San Francisco at the International Cycling Institute to become a professional master bike fitter. Upon my graduation, I became Calgary’s top bike fitting expert and held the title as the only dynamic bike fitter (using video, motion capture) in western Canada. In 2008 I got my level 1 FaCT coaching and physiologic testing certification. From 2007-2011 I continued to deliver top-level bike fitting and built a business coaching triathletes. During this time I continued my education and achieved my level three or master level from FaCT while mentoring under Dr. Andrew Sellars of Vernon BC.Andrew: My passion for endurance sport, and coaching, led to the development of the Balance Point Racing Team, where the primary focus was on applying the most up to date research and testing methods to the development of individualized training plans for endurance athletes. As we continued to push the boundaries of what the testing equipment was capable of, I shared a vision with a young athlete, Peter Obrien, about what the future of physiologic testing could look like. With Peter, we went on to found VO2 Master, in order to create the first ever wireless, portable, and affordable VO2 testing equipment in the world.EPISODE LINKS:► Website: https://breathewaybetter.com► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/breathewaybetter/TOPICS:0:00 - Intro1:00 - Start1:41 - Backgrounds3:29 - Luke’s Testing Process15:00 - Reading Breathing Data33:16 - Respiratory Training1:00:16 - Respiratory Warm Up1:05:45 - Respiratory Muscle FatiguePodcast available on May 25th , 2022PODCAST INFO:► Podcast website: https://anchor.fm/upside-strength-podcast► Apple Podcasts: http://apple.co/3mroiB4► Spotify: http://spoti.fi/34jJtyXPODCAST PLAYLISTS:► Full episodes playlist: http://bit.ly/3oSCkxe► English Clips playlist: http://bit.ly/3gRmAry► French Clips playlist: http://bit.ly/2K1IoVKCONNECT:► Subscribe for more videos here: http://bit.ly/1Xgr5y5► Book a Free Consultation: https://bit.ly/UpsideConsult► WhatsApp: https://wa.me/41763949673► Twitter: https://twitter.com/seanseale

From 1914-1920 the field now known as MacDonald Park, and home to W.L. Seaton Secondary school, was an Internment Camp for Ukrainian and Eastern European citizens.  Our show tells the story of this little known history from three perspectives: those imprisoned, those responsible for the camps from local authorities to the Canadian Government, and the citizens of Vernon with their varying points of view. The show was created by 12 Seaton students, under the direction of Lana O'Brien, over many weeks.  Using theatre, it tells both local stories and stories from across Canada in a beautiful live production that was professionally filmed and edited for sharing in a digital medium. We've been transitioning to a podcast format. Soon we will be adding an additional thread to the conversation entitled - MAD Nights Big City - where we'll focus on content for marketers and designers living and working in bigger cities (large markets). For now, let's focus on our small market community members... This podcast episode was recorded October 3, 2018. It was one of 2 conversations we recorded in Vernon BC. In this episode, we'll be speaking with award-winning graphic designer, Stephanie Tambellini. Stephanie, owner and creative director of Vernon BC based Tambellini Design Studio has over 20 years of extensive experience in all aspects of creative marketing including: graphic design, brand creation/implementation, website design/structure, market research, program management and product production. This was and engaging conversation with an accomplished award-winning graphic designer running a growing design and marketing firm in a small market. We'll hear her story as a creative professional living, working and growing her business in a small market, like Vernon BC. We'll discuss projects, some good moments, perhaps challenging moments, and even funny moments within some of those projects and important lessons learned while building her body of work and her business over the years.

We were joined in this episode by Gerran Thorhaug… who is the definition of “real”. He is an entrepreneur, and currently the owner and GM of Browns Social House in Vernon. Gerran has spent his entire adult life in the hospitality industry and has travelled to various cities to pursue his goals. Going from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver to the quiet serenity of Terrace in Northern BC to the middle ground of Vernon BC, his philosophies have ensured his continued success and growing wisdom in the under-appreciated art of serving people. He will be the last to brag about his success and authority, instead opting to rely on positive business practices to lift others up to his own level and take full accountability for their improving success. Gerran has set the bar for business owners in his local area and has so much value to add to anyone in the business of serving people. Business specific advice is also accompanied by views on personal habits and how forming positive habits can amplify your success in the world. I left this conversation super keen to step up my game and just get out there and explore more. Check out his instagram below: Mason: https://www.instagram.com/mason_mashon/ Podcast: www.ryanjharris.ca/podcast Mason's Website: http://masonmashon.com/essays/ Mason’s photography draws from a deep well of influence. Growing up in Vernon BC, and having spent much of his adult life residing in Whistler BC Canada, he honed his craft in a location known worldwide as the holy grail of action sports. Here is where his photography career began. Pursuing the sports he loved Mason became one of the most prolific Whistler ski, snowboard and mountain bike photographers in an area saturated with camera talent. As his passion for the lens grew as did his repertoire of sports. Surfing had always been an infatuation for Mason and it was only natural for him to shoot it. A professional Mountain Biker in his own right, Mason has often been the subject of others lenses and has appeared in magazines worldwide. As a presenter Mason hosted the largest mountain bike festival in the world, Crankworx Whistler, to a crowd of thousands. Starting in 2013 Mason began hosting an action sports TV show called UnderExposed. A show that followed Masons life as a freelance action sports photographer. It is now airing in Canada on APTN, and in the US on Outside TV.
