If you're someone who works out alone (or with a partner) and looking to take things to the next level, they should consider working out with a BEAST. When Rich says BEAST, he means someone who is much bigger and stronger than them. They also most likely a lot more knowledgeable when it comes to certain aspects of working out. Even if you can't find a BEAST to work out with, you should consider shadowing or even just watching and following what the other BEAST(S) are doing! Not only will you learn a lot when researching the BEAST(S), but you'll also see the intensity they bring to get the results they desire.

He is rich in personality, performance, in Comedy Magic and anecdotes and boy if you were out with Rich he acted as your security so you would not have to queue anywhere you went. Above all else, he was hilarious to have as a friend on and off stage.Rich talks about his time over here in the UK in the late 80's early 90's, working Windsor and The Albert Hall, working Comedy Clubs and the majority of his work on Cruise Ships Worldwide. The story of the Captain's Cocktail Party Fiasco has to be heard to be believed. Sit back and enjoy the Chicago way of my friend, Micky Mouse's friend Rich Purpura.

My guest on this episode of Nobody’s Safe w/Brady Laber is Rich Hoyt, a college basketball analyst for both Xavier University and Northern Kentucky University women’s teams and a freshman basketball coach at Covington Catholic High School. Rich grew up in Indianapolis and attended Cardinal Ritter High School. Like most Indiana natives he grew up a huge basketball fan and followed the Indiana Hoosiers led by the legendary Bobby Knight. Rich also followed the Butler Bulldogs and attended many games at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse. This brings up a discussion about some of the great basketball venues in the state of Indiana that include Hinkle, IU’s Assembly Hall, Newcastle High School and Ben Davis High School. When Rich was a young lad he was a ballboy at the Midwestern City Conference Tournament (precursor to the Horizon League) played at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. Rich later found a photo of himself in the background as Xavier University great Byron Larkin is hitting the shot that made him the Musketeer’s all-time leading scorer. Rich graduated from Indiana University and actually took a class that was taught by Coach Knight. Rich talks about how much fun that class was and how much he learned from “The General.” He moves on to Xavier University starting as a marketing intern and than later took a graduate assistant position. He makes some great contacts while working for the basketball program including but not exclusive to David West, Romain Soto and Alan Majors. While at Xavier, Rich becomes a coach and begins working on the girls basketball team at Roger Bacon High School. He eventually moves to the boys team at Roger Bacon working under the head coach Bill Brewer and later Brian Neal. Rich becomes the head coach of his own program when he takes over at Summit Country Day. The Silver Knights win the district title for the first time in over 20 years and he earns Coach of the Year honors. He steps down as the head coach at Summit for family reasons but still needs a basketball fix so he turns to broadcasting. He helps lead a student broadcast production for Summit games as they win a state championship in 2012 led by his successor Michael Bradley. Rich continued his broadcasting career as he catches on over at Xavier to team up with Mike Schmaltz as the broadcast team for the women’s basketball program. In 2017, Rich adds the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team to his broadcast schedule. He and his partner Matt Sexton were on the call as the Norse accomplish its first 20-win season as a Division-I program in 2020. Rich officially got back into high school coaching after a 10-year hiatus when he was hired as the freshman basketball coach at Covington Catholic High School. He also brings up that his wife, the former Kim Powers, who is a Northern Kentucky athletics legend. The Dixie Heights High School graduate went on to become a six-time All-American as a diver at Stanford University. Today on the show I'm joined by my buddy Rich Hebron (@richhebron). Rich Hebron is a writer, illustrator, and public speaker from Chicago, Illinois. His podcast Rich Conversations is available on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and YouTube. I love this guy. Rich Hebron is a true renaissance man. In three words? Playful. Wise. Open. Rich Hebron is like an open treasure chest in the middle of an urban park. You walk through the city, distracted by the sights and sounds. But then you discover the park, like that big park in New York City. Sitting in that park is an open treasure chest. You peek inside. It's full of ancient wisdom on how to live life to the fullest. That's Rich Hebron. When Rich was 22 years old he voluntarily lived homeless to see what it was like. He remembers those experiences to this day. And in this episode he shares what he learned about homelessness, and how we need to rethink what it means to live without permanent housing. Rich brings the sort of joy to a conversation that reminds me why I love talking to people. This is only round one of a hundred more episodes we'll have together. Please enjoy this wide ranging conversation about books, museums, dinosaurs, life, death, rethinking homelessness (Rich spent months living homeless), and, of course, so much more. Cheers, and here's to your good health this week. -Paul   Like the show? Sign up for my Sunday newsletter. Subscribers get access to previews a day before I release the full episode. Chiro Business Mojo Chiropractic Podcast: Business & Marketing for the Chiropractor | Blogging | Entrepreneur | Success

Earlier this week I talked about not comparing yourself to others because we all have different needs, wants, and aspirations in life and how comparing yourself to others will keep you from reaching your own goals. Today I’m talking about Vision. Regardless of where you’re at in life, having a clear vision is an extremely powerful tool you need in order to achieve the results you want out of life. With a vision, you have a clear sense of purpose and you’re able to make decisions that will get you closer to your goals and highest aspirations in life. We all at one time had a vision of becoming a doctor, caring for patients and making an impact in people’s lives by offering conservative treatment that would give our communities better options for their ailments. With this vision we set out to get the undergrad experience we needed, we chose a chiropractic school, took the classes, and continued to pursue the vision of being a doctor to the point we’re all at now.  When Rich and I graduated almost 12 years ago we had a vision of opening a family chiropractic practice with low overhead, a cozy atmosphere, providing above standard care. With that vision we were able to set goals, make a plan, and take action to realize our vision. Once our vision included moving to a different state, buying another practice, and managing our first practice from out of state, we set new goals, made new plans, and took new actions. Then we had a vision of helping students and new chiropractors by creating this podcast and affordable resources for finding your ideal associate job and starting your own practice. We set goals, created a plan, and took action. So all of the actions we’ve taken, all started with a vision. A vision for what we wanted to do with our lives and how we wanted to grow and serve others, in order to support our family. Today I want you to think about the vision you have for yourself. Once you have a vision you have a clear understanding of what choices are going to help you realize that vision. If you have a spouse then your vision will help guide you both in a unified direction. You’ll be able to work together and get more done, moving in the same direction. A unified team that is organized, focused, and working together to contribute to the vision is a better team! Also, having a unified vision creates an energy of inspiration and enthusiasm. This will be important in difficult or stressful times, because having a clear vision will produce persistence and remind you why you started. It will define your goals, help you make a plan, and create confidence in the actions you begin to take in order to realize the vision. 3 Things to remember when you’re creating your vision, a mental picture of the results you want to achieve.  Dream Big Be positive Be Clear Once you have a vision it’s time to start thinking about these things: Do your friends and associates align with your vision?  Are you spending your time wisely, in order to fulfill your vision?  What do your current habits say about you? How can you start creating a vision for yourself? Peace and quiet.  Think about what you like. Think about what you don’t want. Create a vision board. Put what you want into words.  Set goals! Make a plan! Start taking action Want help with this process? Want like minded friends pursuing extraordinary goals? Join us in our facebook group. Follow us on Instagram @lifestylepractice. We have helped hundreds of students and chiropractors find their ideal associate job and start and build their own practices. We’d love to help you, wherever you’re at, to create and fulfill your own vision. We're creating the resources we wish we had when we first started! Rich Diviney lives to discover, inspire, and accelerate the potential of human beings. As a Retired Navy SEAL Commander, he completed more than 13 overseas deployments. He also spearheaded the creation of a directorate that fused physical, mental, and emotional disciplines. In January 2021, Rich will release his first book, The Attributes: 25 Hidden Drivers of Optimal Performance. Rich breaks down how your average teams can become high-performing teams, the mental strategies we can use to overcome stressful situations, and why we need to screen for attributes, not necessarily skill sets. Rich also works with Simon Sinek to help leaders and organizations create environments where people feel valued and free to explore their potential.   Key Takeaways [4:25] When RIch was tasked with creating resilience among SEAL Teams, he created the “Mind Gym” concept. [6:00] Rich believed that, through resiliency, you could label and reframe PTSD in a new way. [10:15] One of the ways we can take care of ourselves mentally is to slow down and to let our brains rest. Sleep is the #1 way to recover. [11:05] If you’re stressed out, turn off the news. It’s one of the primary sources of stress because they throw so many unknown variables at you. [14:25] Rich is not always striving for peak performance. Instead, he searches for optimal performance, which he defines as, “How can you do the very best you can in the moment with what you’ve got.” [17:25] Our attributes will tell us how we will perform when things go sideways. The good news is that we can develop our attributes. [21:55] Why does someone want to be in special operations forces? Rich believes that the reason is actually rooted in narcissism. We all want to be the best. We all want to prove we are the best. [24:15] Rich breaks drive down into five attributes: Self-efficacy. Discipline. Open-mindedness. Cunning. Narcissism. [27:15] The smaller the team or the smaller the organization, Rich doesn’t see the same “groupthink” traits as he does in larger organizations. He believes this is due to lack of structure and corporate refinement. [32:10] You are not allowed to designate yourself as a leader. Leadership is a behavior that others are drawn to. People choose to follow a leader. [37:55] It is completely possible to recharge our mental and physical wellbeing during a stressful situation. It can be through meditation, through a quick nap, or even a visualization of what makes you happy. [44:00] In high-performing teams, Leadership roles and responsibilities will change to different people based on their expertise or who might be closer to a situation at the time. Rich has seen that leadership is fluid and people, including leaders, will shift power roles to the one who is most capable given the situation. [44:35] Trust is the key element to any high-functioning and high-performing team. They lean on each other. [45:35] Listener challenge: Break some of the preconceived constraints and boundaries that have been built on your current team.   Quotable Quotes “Resiliency doesn’t describe what high performers do. Resiliency by definition is the ability to get knocked off of baseline and get back to baseline.” “One of the ways we can all take care of ourselves mentally is to actively find ways to slow ourselves down and turn off the outside world.” “Things that bring you joy. Any time you engage in an activity that you feel more full after doing, you’re likely in recovery mode.” “What defines optimal performance — can you keep on moving and what are the attributes you bring to the table?” “If teams want to figure out how to manage in uncertainty, they need to look at attributes vs. just skill.” “We are biologically designed to want to stand out. Narcissism in small doses, the desire to be special, can be a very, very powerful driver in performance.”   Resources Mentioned Rich’s website & upcoming book: Theattributes.com Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder, by Nassim Nicholas Taleb Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, by Angela Duckworth   The Leadership Podcast is Sponsored by:     Cultivate Grit. The man behind the many voices is Richie Scotti, a comedian, DJ and all-around entertainer with an incredible vocal talent which gives him the ability to contort his voice, cadence and delivery to seemingly "become" anyone he wishes. Larry's conversation with Rich captures some of the most exciting and hilarious points on a thrilling ride in show business that began in Queens when, at 23, Scotti decided not to follow his dad in the printing business and drove off with some other adventurous friends, settling in a little city of 250,000 called Las Vegas. When Rich walked into Paul Anka's Jubilation and discovered that the club's DJ had just been fired for doing cocaine, he stepped in immediately and, in an instant, found himself spinning records at the hottest club at that time on the strip. Whether it's convincing the Sugar Hill Gang to pass him the mic during their engagement at Caesar's Palace, or posing as Stallone to call the famed actor's dentist -- so convincingly, by the way, that the Stallone's newly baked caps were sent to Scotti -- you can count on Richie Scotti to tell it with verve and panache, and you can count on Larry to make the most of an interview with one of the incredible talents of comedy and show biz.

Fear is often a mask for desire. When Rich hears that, he looks past the fear and tries to uncover the desire behind the mask. Rich was able to remove this mask with his guest today, Niki Parker. Niki works for the International Red Cross. She set up a coaching program for the World Economic Forum and created an online digital campaign that generated millions of dollars and raised awareness of the environment. Niki tried to sell her limitations and fear to Rich but he wasn’t buying it. Through 1 insight she is able to see that what she thinks is fear is, in fact, the energy she has for her greatest desires. She realizes that she is so busy that she hasn’t sat down to create her specific intentions to focus that energy Intention is powerful.   In today’s episode: Having “fear” of the next step Breaking down sexy work vs. cash projects The 4 steps to creating clients with a very simple framework Connecting with and inviting people into a conversation Giving people an experience with coaching Performing the juggling act between dreams and reality Balancing out the ups and downs that come with business Why coaches would benefit from doubling their fees Importance of setting your intentions Knowing that a goal is truly impossible Putting yourself into a community of successful and driven people   For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. In order to achieve storytelling marketing success, CMOs have to be willing to take risks. Even with all of the data and metrics available to evaluate, sometimes the best ideas come directly from human intuition. On this episode of Renegade Thinkers Unite, Drew interviews Rich Kylberg, Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Arrow Electronics. Arrow is a $24 billion global supplier for a wide array of technology and products, and Rich has helped them break into new ways of communicating internally and externally. Throughout this podcast, Rich explains how his background in literature allows him to see marketing campaigns in new ways and why casting a vision internally is needed before you can communicate identity externally. Arrow’s groundbreaking SAM vehicle technology is revolutionizing many industries, and you’ll be inspired by Rich’s explanation of this pursuit. Their conversation is a perfect mix of marketing knowledge and inspiration - you don’t want to miss it. Arrow was on the verge of becoming a holding company too comfortable in their own success, but Rich was determined to take some risks and create a guiding theme that would direct every employee and customer interaction. Thus, the phrase “guiding innovation forward” was born. Rich explains that “you have to inspire your employees before you can market your company externally” and this progress was essential for Arrow to continue growing. It created a conversation starter that is still being talked about today. To hear exactly how Rich achieved this lofty goal, be sure to give this episode a listen. Why risk taking in marketing is so important Rich and Drew are adamant about risk-taking in marketing - it’s one of the key aspects of being a Renegade Thinker. On this episode, Rich explains that the opportunity to attain exponential rewards are worth taking substantial risks and that the fear of mediocrity is often the driving force behind risk-taking. CMOs in any B2B environment should ask themselves these questions: What risks am I willing to take in my marketing? What will be the source of my courage? How am I going to prepare? After you consider these questions, remember that as a marketer you need to be empowered to try ideas, keep what works, and move past what doesn't. Without risky marketing decisions, Rich and his team never could have developed the storytelling marketing campaign that moved Arrow into the future of connecting with clients and telling great stories. Be sure to discover the story on this episode. Arrow’s innovative storytelling marketing campaign and how Rich and his team burst through the barriers they encountered Arrow Electronics recently unveiled their latest storytelling marketing campaign, and it’s one that resonates with people across the country. When Rich and his team were connected with a former Indy Racing League race car driver who was sadly diagnosed as a quadriplegic after a crash in 2000, they came up with the SAM car technology - a car that would allow drivers with disabilities to regain their independence. When asked about the project, Rich's team explained that "We hope the SAM car continues to drive technology innovation forward and inspire people to dream big because anything is possible.” Had Rich and his marketing team forgone risk-taking and stuck with what is “normal” and expected in the marketing industry, this amazing project never would have left the idea board. It’s sure to inspire you and your team to take marketing risks and delve into the unknown so be sure to get all of the details by listening to this episode of Renegade Thinkers Unite. 009: Rich Manders- How the Topgrading System Prevented Million Dollar Hiring Disasters.

Scaling Up Business Podcast

Rich Manders, co-founder of iAutomation and FreeScale Coaching, is a serial entrepreneur who has sold two businesses and has overseen seven acquisitions. Rich has a deep understanding on how to optimize and grow combining enterprises and has worked with many thought leaders on business management, personal development, and negotiation. In 1998, Rich was having problems finding and keeping talented employees for the business he was starting. Someone recommended that Rich look into a Topgrading workshop and, after a brief course on the subject, found that this system was undoubtedly the best way to hire new employees. Rich attributes Topgrading to making his business millions of dollars because it took the chaos out of hiring talent. Due to the technical nature of the company, it took roughly two years of employee training to be brought up to full speed. This had huge costs for Rich. Not only did it take two years to test out talent, but it also cost Rich $250,000 in salary, training, and benefits before the company even knew if that one employee was a right fit for them. High stakes to say the least. Rich says during the first two years of the company, he had made five bad misfires. Rich found that by using the Topgrading system, the people he ended up hiring were 2-3 times more productive than previous hires. The next step for Rich was to send his managers through the topgrading workshop to also improve employee productivity. The hiring process is not fast or easy. It takes time to vet the right hires and find the right talent. Rich says it takes one full day to two full days to get through the Topgrading process. The biggest push back Rich received was that hiring managers didn't have time to take a full day just to hire one person. Rich's counterpoint was clear, if it's costing the company $250,000 alone to fully train an employee, then taking the necessary day or two to vet the person fully is in the best interest of the company. Do it right the first time. When Rich started the Topgrading process, he already had 20 people on staff and 5-10 million in revenue. By properly vetting new hires who were brought on board, they were able to increase their staff to 160 and generate 80 million in sales revenue by the time Rich left the business in 2013. The Topgrading system really skyrocketed their business.   Interview Links: Topgrading Website Who by Geoff Smart iAutomation Website More Resources: ScalingUpBusiness.com:  Learn about how growth coaching can help you and and your business see big results.
