The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Carter Hart to a PTO after he was acquitted in the Hockey Canada Five trial. Roy, David, and Ethan offer their thoughts on the signing and what this says about the state of the league. Roy and David have some huge concerns about the New York Rangers' offense and how it compares to the early 2000s Florida Panthers, and Ethan thinks the Chicago Blackhawks might finally have some juice this year. Rose is back and joins in on the fun in wins and fails of the week, which include a fight that knocked the lights out, the refs in Panthers-Devils having a rough go, and Billy Gil's departure from the show. Shayna Goldman of The Athletic joins the show and brings the heat on the Carter Hart issue, and tells us why her Rangers are struggling so much and whether there is any hope their offense will get going. She also weighs in on the Blackhawks, whether Martin Necas will cash in some time soon, and how exciting the Montreal Canadiens are. It's been almost a full century since Ojibwe hockey player Taffy Abel first set foot on the ice as a New York Rangers defenseman. It was a historic moment that was not acknowledged at the time in the professional hockey world or even by Abel himself. At the time, he kept his Native American identity a secret — at first to escape the forced attendance at Indian Boarding Schools, then later to avoid the discrimination that could hinder his career. Now, his descendants want him recognized, after the fact, as the man who broke the pro hockey color barrier. Abel carried the American flag in the first Winter Olympics in 1924. He went on to help both the Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks win Stanley Cup championships. GUESTS Aaron Payment (Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians), tribal councilman and former chairperson for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Billy Mills (Oglala Lakota), 1964 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Charles Fox, regular contributor to Indian Country Today and former staff photographer for 38 years at The Philadelphia Inquirer George Jones, retired economist and Indigenous hockey historian

14 years ago, the Buffalo Sabres qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Lindy Ruff behind their bench. Fourteen years and six head coaches later, Ruff was tabbed again last year to try to recapture some post-season magic in Buffalo. Unfortunately, it hasn't gone exactly to plan.Another slow start punctuated by lack of offense has quickly tested the patience of the fans in Western New York. Buffalo News columnist Mike Harrington joins Neil and Vic to get the pulse in the winning starved city. We'll also return with Three Things You Need to Pay Attention To starting with an historic dry spell in the Big Apple along with other items of note from around the NHL.IN THIS EPISODE:[01:28] - Three Things You Need to Pay Attention To opens the show with the New York Rangers firing blanks at home and a player that they'd like wish they still had.[09:26] - Mike Harrington joins the show and delivers the mood in the Buffalo area with the Sabres struggling, the Bills hitting a bump in the road and the Blue Jays having their hands full in the ALCS.[10:49] - Starting the breakdown of where it continues to go wrong and why the Sabres can't seem to have the Bills relative success.[13:29] - Moving from ownership to the front office where the club simply doesn't appear to have a true identity and fan patience is thin before the leaves have started to fall.[15:49] - Though most people are not pointing the finger at the head coach, Vic presses Mike on his position on Lindy Ruff.[18:25] - While the team has been affected by injuries early on, Neil is flabbergasted at some of the moves that have been made. Harrington adds his perspective.[21:49] - The Jack Eichel saga leading to his departure from Buffalo to Vegas.[23:41] - The big picture, as Mike sees it, in how the Sabres get their early woes turned around. [25:06] - While the goaltending and defense are respectable, some difference of opinion on the forward group in relation to the balance of the NHL.[29:10] - Adding to the frustration in Buffalo is the number of players that have won Stanley Cups elsewhere since departing the team.[31:33] - In the immediate, the baby steps needed to gain traction - as if the first week of the season never happened.[35:39] - Wrapping up the discussion with Mike Harrington[37:04] - Other items from around the NHL including a salute to the latest member of the 1500 games played club.[46:28] - A Human Side of the Story bit on how general managers - such as Kevyn Adams - deal with a high level of negativity when their franchise loses its way.X: https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/NHL Wraparound Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/#NHLWraparound #ShortShifts #NYCentric #StanleyCupdate #SummerCoolers #NeilSmith #VicMorren #NHL #SummerCoolers #AnaheimDucks # #BostonBruins #BuffaloSabres #CalgaryFlames #CarolinaHurricanes #ChicagoBlackhawks #ColoradoAvalanche #ColumbusBlueJackets #DallasStars #DetroitRedWings #EdmontonOilers #FloridaPanthers #LosAngelesKings #MinnesotaWild #MontrealCanadiens #NashvillePredators #NewJerseyDevils #NewYorkIslanders #NewYorkRangers #OttawaSenators #PhiladelphiaFlyers #PittsburghPenguins #StLouisBlues #SanJoseSharks #SeattleKraken #TampaBayLightning #TorontoMapleLeafs #UtahMammoth #VancouverCanucks #VegasGoldenKnights #WashingtonCapitals #WinnipegJets #MikeHarrington #BuffaloNews #PittsburghPirates #StuSkinner #VincentTrocheck #ArtemiPanarin #MikaZibanejad #WillCullye #AlexisLafreniere #MartinBrodeur #DominikHasek #CharlieLindgren #RyanLindgren #SamCarrick #AdamEdstrom #MattRempe #ChrisKreider #JoelQuenneville #JacobTrouba #BrandonBussi #PyotrKochetkov #BuffaloBills #TorontoBlueJays #NewYorkYankees #Presidents'Trophy #ChrisDrury #RasmusDahlin #OwenPower #TerryPegula...
BT and Sal unleash a fiery critique on the latest sports embarrassments to hit New York. The main target: the Rangers' shockingly scoreless start at home, marking a historic and humiliating three-game drought where the goal song hasn't played once. They also dive into the bizarre world of the Gold Glove nominations, with Sal expressing near-obsessive frustration over the perceived snubs, particularly Francisco Lindor and Cody Bellinger, and the baffling inclusion of lesser-known players, sparking a passionate debate about the award's legitimacy.
Pucken är släppt och firma Bjurman/Ekeliw har äntligen ”riktiga” matcher att diskutera och analysera! It's been a busy week around here, and I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to hit your ear holes with another dose of Oilers adjacent shenanigans. On today's podcast, I talked about the Oilers bouncing back from their season opener loss, Stuart Skinner doing what he can to shut up the haters, Jack Roslovic's Edmonton debut, and much more. After a tough loss to the Calgary Flames in the season opener, the Edmonton Oilers rebounded with a pair of wins over the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers. While those two wins came after very different games and with very different heroes, the larger point is that our boys found a way to win despite two vastly different styles on the ice. Not only were those wins important, but I also got the chance to pump Stuart Skinner's tires a little bit after quieting down the haters with his first shutout of the season. Finally, I wrapped up the news with a quick look at Jack Roslovic's Oilers debut, and wondered whether he can do enough in the next few weeks to cement his spot in the lineup. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about player fines before wrapping up the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was quiet again this week, but the messages were as varied as they were entertaining. The voicemail is my favourite way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode, because having all of you in the mix makes the show so much better.Want to leave a voicemail for next week's show? Plus, we'll look ahead to the next matchup as the Oilers get set to take on the New York Islanders. Can they keep the strong play going on the road? The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

BT & Sal invite Hoff into the fire for "Bald face lie, Bald face truth" to tackle the biggest, most volatile New York sports debates! They lay down the law on whether Jaxson Dart will lead the Giants in rushing touchdowns in Week 7, if the Rangers can finally score a goal at Madison Square Garden against the Oilers, and if the struggling Jets will trade one of their young stars: Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, or Breece Hall before the deadline!
The boys are back with a brand new episode of 2 Guys & A Goalie, recapping the Oilers' big weekend win over the Vancouver Canucks! We'll break down all the major talking points from that game — what went right, who stood out, and what still needs fine-tuning. Then, it's time to look ahead as the Oilers hit the road to take on the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden. We'll preview tonight's lineup and discuss what Edmonton needs to do to secure a win out east. It's a jam-packed show full of Oilers analysis, insight, and plenty of laughs — don't miss it! 2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!

Episode 323 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features another fantastic interview with ex-NHL goalie turned analyst and coach Steve Valiquette. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Valiquette takes us behind the scenes of a summer spent coaching goalies (and inevitably shooters too), walking us through how he translates the scoring chance insights from his data company, Clear Sight Analytics, into on-ice drills over the course of an offseason.
