Hello Colorado Rapids fans and UP THE ****ING PIDS! This week on Holding The High Line, THE RAPIDS beat Club America! Rabbi and Red banter about Moïse Bombito officially going OGC Nice. Check out our special exit interview with Moïse here. Then we bask in the joy of that win over America. The game plan worked and the players executed it very well. Colorado still played like the smaller team at times. It was another 50/50 game they found a way to win. We relive the penalties heroics from Zack Steffen AGAIN. Liga MX fans are coping and maybe finally seeing the excuses MLS fans made for years during the Conca Champions. They we've got a really good Ask HTHL on comparing Chris Armas to Coach Lasso. We preview LAFC as Colorado look to get their first ever result at BMO Stadium. Kei Kamara is still there. Olivier Giroud is available. There could be no more fitting test for the Rapids than to finally go on the road to the black and gold and try and win. They've played six road games against LAFC and lost all of them. Total score 17-2. Perhaps this is the way that streak has to end? One final exorcism to make their first final since 2010? Also we do a Rapids history side quest. Here's the link to that World Soccer Talk article. We have partnered with BETUS. Get a 125% bonus on your first three deposits when you use our link. They are even doing Concacaf competitions now.

Much like the men's side, the Wrexham Women's team has undergone considerable change since American investors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over at the club. Not only has Wrexham Women earned promotion to its top flight, but it is growing in popularity. The brains behind that growth is Gemma Owen, who oversees the entire women's department at Wrexham AFC. Among her many hats, she is also an assistant manager of the U-19 Women's side with Wrexham. However, her responsibilities vary greatly. Owen joins World Soccer Talk ahead of 'Welcome to Wrexham' season two episode six, titled 'Ballers.' In this interview, Owen talks about her various responsibilities with the club as well as some of the players and fans of the side. Additionally, Owen goes into detail about the growing popularity of the women's team from abroad. Thousands of people had made the pilgrimage to Wrexham to watch the men's team. Now, some people are staying an extra day to watch the women. Could fans in the United States have the opportunity to see the Wrexham Women in a friendly against NWSL teams? Also, is there any chance fans could see Wrexham Women play in the Champions League? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

While Bayern Munich is expected to have an impactful summer transfer window, this period feels like the calm before the storm. Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro are signed, sealed, and delivered, while Kim Min-jae is expected to follow suit quickly (potentially by the time you read this!). Otherwise, there is A LOT of rumbling, but not much action otherwise for the Bavarians. As it stands, this seems like a good time to take a step back and look at the big picture of what is going on — including the BPW staff earning another award (thanks to all of you!). Let's get to it: Some thoughts on BPW nailing down another “Best Club Podcast” Award from World Soccer Talk. Where things stand on Bayern Munich's pursuit of Harry Kane — and why there are reasons to feel both optimistic and pessimistic. Plus, the new pecking order of things should Kane opt to stay put in London. Addressing the bizarre situations with Noussair Mazraoui, Ryan Gravenberch, Marcel Sabitzer, and Sadio Mane. Why the Leon Goretzka situation is likely coming to a head soon enough.

Jon Arnold, a freelance journalist and the author of the popular newsletter "Getting CONCACAFed," joins the World Soccer Talk podcast to give a preview of the upcoming Gold Cup. Fresh off winning the CONCACAF Nations League, the USMNT is among the favorites to win the tournament. However, there are only five players that featured in that squad. With BJ Callaghan managing his last games before Gregg Berhalter's return, can he lead the side to more success? Now that teams are competing with more frequency in the Nations League, the standard of competition in CONCACAF continues to rise. The United States may be the defending champion of this competition and the Nations League, but it will face a stiff challenge in the Gold Cup.That title defense from the 2021 tournament starts against Jamaica, which made headlines for naming Demarai Gray in a talented squad. Arnold lays out the chances Jamaica may have to break through against top opposition like the United States. It is also an important tournament for Mexico, which is coming off a struggle of a weekend in the Nations League. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This episode of the World Soccer Talk podcast, which is an interview with AFP's Simon Evans on US Soccer and foreign coaches, is presented by Sling.Gregg Berhalter is back, and US Soccer stated that it went through a rigorous evaluation process to come to that conclusion. The Federation did not state any names as to who it contacted. Yet, media report several candidates were not American. However, none were up to the task by US Soccer's measurement. It settled on Berhalter half a year after his contract expired. The players are clearly fond of the coach. But, is this the best US Soccer could do? It stated that finances were no issue, nor were the contract statuses of particular coaches. Berhalter does hold the best win percentage in USMNT history. How valid of an argument is that given somewhat weak opposition.Simon Evans of the AFP joins the podcast again to discuss the argument for and against foreign coaches with the USMNT. Hosted on Acast. Ahead of the highly anticipated clash between Mexico and the United States in the Concacaf Nations League, World Soccer Talk's Kyle Fansler chats with three headline members of CBS's Concacaf coverage. Former USMNT players Clint Dempsey, Charlie Davies and Maurice Edu are all part of the analysis on CBS's platforms during the Nations League Finals. The coverage of the game is also available on CBS's networks, with the 'Continental Clasico' available on Paramount+.In this interview, Davies, Dempsey and Edu talk about the ever-changing USMNT. Davies and Edu worked with interim head coach in BJ Callaghan during their time in MLS. So, they can provide an inside look on what was a surprising hire. Also, Dempsey talks about Folarin Balogun. Dempsey is arguably the USMNT's greatest forward of all time, and he is joint-top of the all-time goalscoring record. Dempsey gives his take on the importance for Balogun to get off to a strong start in the stars and stripes. Finally, all three provide insight on what it is like to work with CBS. The constantly growing platform is gaining serious praise for its coverage of both club and international soccer. Dempsey is, relatively speaking, the newest to this job as a pundit. Davies and Edu, on the other hand, know what makes CBS special, and they provide those answers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Guillem Balague is one of soccer's most famous journalists, regardless of country. Renowned for his ability to capture the emotion and personality of the game, he is a major part of CBS's developing and entertaining soccer coverage. And, with a new documentary series on Paramount Plus, there is no better time to learn more about Balague. In this interview, Balague talks about Destination: European Nights, which is now available on Paramount Plus. The six-part documentary series has the Spanish journalist travel around Europe during the UEFA Champions League. World Soccer Talk's Kyle Fansler asks Balague about what it is like to travel around and get to know all these different cultures. With visits to Georgia, Israel and the usual cathedrals of the sport, Balague has a better understanding of European soccer than most.Outside of that, Balague also discusses his work with non-League side Biggleswade United, which is in the ninth tier of the English pyramid. There, he is the chairman of the club. Finally, Balague talks about his relationship with Grant Wahl. Like Balague, Wahl was an influential journalist, particularly in the American soccer scene. The two were colleagues, and Balague was with Wahl just before the latter passed away during the World Cup. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
JJ Watt's Burnley may not be the best descriptor. After all, the former NFL defensive lineman is but a minority owner of Burnley FC. Yet, the club won promotion back to the Premier League at its first time of trying. However, he has already, and will continue to have, a major impact on the club's popularity. That is particularly true in the United States. In this episode of the World Soccer Talk podcast, Kyle Fansler talks to AFP sports journalist Simon Evans. Evans, who is a "From the Bee Hole End" podcast host, talks about JJ and Kealia Watt. The two already made waves by lifting the Championship trophy and going on a bar crawl through Burnley. Evans discusses the similarities between Watt's upbringing in Wisconsin and the town of Burnley.Evans is a Burnley native. While he currently resides in the United States, he has a great understanding and respect for the people of the town. That town, which is largely working class, is somewhat similar to Wrexham, where two Hollywood owners in Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds turned around that Welsh club as it returns to the Football League. Can Watt bring enough American enthusiasm to Burnley so that it can develop a strong and consistent following across the Atlantic Ocean? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In this Season Premiere of the Parking the Bus podcast we'll focus a lot on MatchDay 1 of MLS and recap the coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+. It was as good of an opening night on the pitch as the League and Apple could of hoped for as plenty of match were close and had late drama that captivated audiences. Attendances were also very good on night 1 but there was a key injury already to the face of one franchise and thanks to inclement weather we ever have a Monday night match up that doesn't make the podcast this week. Then we'll go around world and quickly look at some of the weekend's results in notable leagues! Welcome back to the Parking the Bus Podcast for Season 4!! Yet, at the crossroads of their ownership and the club itself is Humphrey Ker.In this discussion, Ker breaks down what he actually does with Wrexham in that role. Plus, he talks about how important the documentary itself is in both growing the game in the United States, while also shedding light on soccer just outside the top four division of the EFL. In the latest edition of the World Soccer Talk podcast, host Kyle Fansler talks all things Serie A with an expert on the league. Matteo Bonetti is the lead Serie A analyst for CBS Sports and Paramount+. Plus, he is a frequent co-commentator alongside Dre Cordero for broadcasts of games. Bonetti, a longtime fan and analyst for Serie A coverage in the United States, previews what should be a wildly entertaining Serie A campaign. Milan and Inter enter with high hopes, with the Rossoneri winning last season's Scudetto. The other traditional big names in Serie A are challenging to predict. Bonetti also goes to the bottom of the table. There, it could be challenging for some of the newcomers to the league to stay up. One club, however, seems better than the others, and could very well maintain status in the top flight and then some. The Serie A season kicks off Saturday, August 13, with title defenders Milan battling Udinese.
