Duluth Trading Company plays where Carhartt or Wrangler can't - humor. With products like "Buck Naked" boxers, "Funk no" underwear and "Ball-room" Jeans, it uses its fantastically irreverent voice and illustrated ad style to speak to its core proposition - seriously great products without the seriousness. A must listen episode. Thanks to Tracksuit for supporting our show.

In our second segment, we're celebrating Warren Buffett's 94th birthday by exploring how he continues to lead Berkshire Hathaway with razor-sharp acumen — and what this teaches us about aging. Recent college grad Sean Riley noticed that his Animal House-style apartment full of dudes needed some help with hygiene. It wasn't like there wasn't enough toilet paper -- it was the fact that some (okay most) dudes needed a lot more help keeping that undercarriage clean after they did their business. Some dudes used bought baby wipes but that didn't seem to fit and that sparked the idea for a grown up hygienic product strong enough and made just for men and Dude Wipes was born. Sam Olawale is a multi 8+ figure entrepreneur who finds the genius in other people, creates revolutionary products and uses the power of storytelling through social media to build brands. Top 3 Value Bombs: 1. When you can take the time to find that genius in others and recruit brilliant people and get them to rally around the cause and mission bigger than themselves, bigger than you, and then take these people and bring them together to be greater than the sum of their parts. 2. Without a phenomenal product, bringing innovation to a marketplace is going to be very difficult. Instead of fighting over a red ocean. Build a blue ocean for you to swim in and grow into. You need to bring innovation. 3. Most of the time, it's not your product that's slowing you down or stopping you. It's not your marketing, it's your inability to build systems and hire brilliant people to execute on those systems. In this episode, I talk about the 6 best pieces of advice I received from consulting with a billion dollar brand at Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, trusting yourself, connection is what brings people together, humility is what drives the mission forward, what you know is more than what others may know, not doing a job to fail but doing it to serve and make it better, your mission is you and how that affects others, putting yourself first makes you more reliable to the people who need you and more!Follow me on Instagram @mattgottesmanJump on my weekly texts for the soul here 480-530-7352FREE Reverse Engineer Your Life (Clarity Crash Course): Time, Energy, Money, Creativity, Work, Rest & Play - https://mattgottesman.com/reverse-engineer-your-life
Chris Cocks is the CEO of Hasbro, a company that just turned 100 this year. Hasbro is a huge company, making everything from Transformers to Lincoln Logs to My Little Pony and Monopoly. It also makes Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, which are massive and growing businesses. Chris was the head of that division, called Wizards of the Coast, before he became the CEO of Hasbro overall last year. Since then, he's started the process of restructuring the company, which is pure Decoder bait. He's also dealt with some crises: He's fended off an activist investor that wanted him to spin Wizards of the Coast out into a new company. The Magic community was upset that too many card sets were being released, including rare collector cards that could suddenly be bought by anybody who had enough money. Then, an attempt to change the open gaming license for Dungeons & Dragons led to a fan backlash, and Hasbro walked the entire plan back. We talked about these challenges, how he handled them, and what it means for toys and games to have such passionate fandoms. It really changes how Hasbro operates. He's also selling off part of eOne, the company's TV and film production company — we get into why and how he decided to do that. Chris is a lifelong gamer — you'll hear him talk about that history several times. And he's also keenly aware that toys and games have become an adults' market as much as a kids' one, and that changes the company's business strategy. This is really a remarkable conversation: toys are a big, complex business.
