On this episode of Chill with TFC, we explore new research aiming to define what it truly means to have enough in today's Singapore. Our guests, Dr Ng Kok Hoe and Associate Prof Teo You Yenn, are brilliant minds in the fields of sociology and social policy research. Through their innovative focus group method, they gathered diverse perspectives on basic living standards. Together, they've embarked on a groundbreaking journey to uncover the truth behind Minimum Income Standards (MIS) in Singapore.Discover how they gathered diverse perspectives from ordinary Singaporeans and explored the elements that shape a decent standard of living. It's an exploration that challenges the status quo and sets the stage for a paradigm shift. But what did participants view as necessities that may surprise you? And where did their ideas diverge from traditional government stances? Tune in as we discuss the findings and debated topics like education expenses, leisure activities, and the price of participating fully in society. You'll also learn how the researchers calculate real monetary costs of meeting consensus needs. But how do their figures compare to actual household incomes? We'll discuss criticisms of the methodology and whether current policies are really sufficient. Most importantly, what gaps does this research reveal between lived realities, shifting social norms and assumptions in our policymaking? Join us to get insight into empirically reexamining the baseline of welfare and well-being in Singapore from those doing it. Welcome to our discussion all about episodes 1-5 of The Witcher Season 3. It is a bittersweet season of one of my favourite Netflix shows as Geralt will no longer be played by Henry Cavill at the end of these episodes and he has been excellent in the role since day one. In these opening five episodes we see the initial trio of Geralt, Yenn and Ciri on the run from every bounty hunter in the continent ... before the three becomes a four with Jaskier and then splitting into two two's.... The end of episode five does end on a knife edge and so we are very much looking forward to the final three episodes of the season! We hope you enjoy our chat and we look forward to talking about the Witcher more in a few weeks.

In this week’s inspiring episode, Brigitte interviews Yenn Pukis, an autistic and non-binary author, advocate, public speaker, and community leader, to talk about building resilience for preteens and teens on the autism spectrum. Yenn has published 9 books including The Parents’ Practical Guide to Resilience for Preteens and Teenagers on the Autism Spectrum and The Guide to Good Mental Health on the Autism Spectrum and has presented as a speaker at a range of events including TEDx Canberra. Yenn was one of the first people to be diagnosed as adult with autism in Australia back in 1994 when it was called Asperger Syndrome. They recall being bullied a lot in school and struggling socially although they did well academically. They ended up getting into trouble with the law and life became extremely difficult for them. They developed a mental illness at 21 called Schizoaffective disorder due to self-medicating and drugs. At 25, no longer wanting their life to be negative and chaotic, they set about to change their world. “I want to put things in the world to make it better, not worse. And when I leave it, I want to leave it in a better way than it was,“ Yenn says passionately.  They went on to university and earned three degrees including a Master’s in Visual Art and obtained a highly sought-after job in the Australian public service 14 years ago. They became an autism employment success story. They became a passionate autism advocate after meeting a 21-year old autistic man she would call Adam whom she met in the psychiatric ward when she was there for her mental illness. Adam had been told all that he couldn’t do and he was so limited by other people’s negative expectations that he spent the past 6 years sitting in his room playing computer games and not engaged in anything. He had no confidence in himself and had no understanding that he had anything to offer in the world. Moved to do something about this, Yenn published a book called The Wonderful World of Work, and shortly after, she was asked to give a TED Talk. Yenn has written more books that are focused on positive self-knowledge of autistic people to help individuals like Adam. They are now one of the most visible autistic advocates in the world and they feel that they are living proof of what people can achieve and what strengths autistic people can bring to the world with motivation and passion. They share some of the biggest struggles young autistic people face and keys to help them build resilience during difficult times. They also give great advice to parents on how to help their autistic kids navigate through high school and employment. Finally, Yenn tells us to have the neurodiversity lens, listen to autistic people to understand autistic people, be an ally, and encourage our kids to ask questions. Enjoy this episode!Resources and Links:Yenn Websitehttp://jeanettepurkis.com/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/yennpurkisbooksTwitterhttps://twitter.com/yennpurkisMother's Guide Through Autism Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mothersguidethroughautismBrigitte Websitehttps://bmvlifecoach.com/

An amazing first season of a brilliant property in a series that’s only going to get better as the Ciri Saga builds and builds and builds. This has been awesome, and I’m not nearly done with Geralt, Yenn, Triss, Dandelion, and of course, the Lion Cub of Cintra, Ciri. Much love to all. Wait, they did “The Last Wish?” They actually did “The Last Wish??” Showrunner Lauren Hissrich and her people actually had the GIANT BALLS to do this ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND BONKERS first meeting of Geralt and Yenn with the genie and the three wishes???? OMG. I’m still in shock that they somehow pulled off this classic but nutso tale so brilliantly and loyally, let alone attempted it in the first place. I am not worthy. Yenn Purkis is a non-binary gender person with Asperger's syndrome. They are an author of 6 books, a TED X speaker, and a passionate advocate for autistic people and their families. From an early age, Yenn knew they weren't like other folks, and was bullied mercilessly for being different. Academically brilliant, they were dux of the school, but not fitting in and being ostracised for it led to several early adulthood years spent in self destruction. Yenn emerged from this determined to be successful and fulfil professional ambition. With a published book in hand, they applied to many jobs and was successful to land one. This is the origin story of a remarkable individual who overcame being singled out for difference to becoming a public champion for inclusion. In this interview, we explore what it means to be non binary gender, how to be aware of privilege as a generator of bias, how reading books is an excellent way to expand perspective and understanding of others, how becoming comfortable and aware of who we are drops anxiety about status, why diversity is a noun and inclusion is the verb or responsibility in leadership, how the intersection of elements of difference (like being non binary gender AND autistic) multiplies the challenge effect for inclusion, and how it is PRIVILEGE and not ‘norm' that measures distance from center and influence. Reason to listen: learn about life from a different lens.

Born 1985 in Luxembourg, this young talent discovered his passion for electronic music at the age of 15. Two years later he took his first steps in music production and DJing. In 2007 he released his first Track on Yenns YARecords, followed by several remixes. 2009 was a good year for the young man, gained recognition by one of the industries finest house DJ's, Ian Carey, who took ND Catani on his own imprint GFab Records, giving him the chance to remix Names as, The Ian Carey Project - Get Shaky, Beatthiefs, or Soul-avengers. In the mean time Andy started his side Project MINE(Minimal is not enough) which gained big support from download portals like Trackitdown or Beatport, featuring and charting his releases. 2011 brought another big step in Andy's career, he released his first Album on Yenn's noobish records, and Martin Solveig released his remix of the Hit Single "Hello" on his Label Mixture recordings. 2012 was a bit quite but Andy was still active, producing unreleased stuff, like La PaSoLe, a summer anthem, that's still hot. And a another project was born: The Green Lung with his mate, Djail Green, there attitude is to produce tracks that brings people a smile. And now in 2013 Andy is back under his Old Pseudonym ND Catani, on his focus: the more deep and techy side of the House-genre. Normal that this man does not only produce music, no, he's also a genius in the booth, blending nearly every house genre together into one big performance. So, stay tuned as the future looks very promising for this skilled, extraordinary, uprising artist. https://soundcloud.com/ndcatani Download for free on The Artist Union
