Titres interprétés au grand studio- Down On My Knees, Live RFI- The Spin, extrait de l'album- Love Child Live RFI.

Episode 62 of ‘All About Art': Art Philanthropy with Joanna Masiyiwa, Global Council Member of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town In this episode, I sat down with Joanna Masiyiwa, an African philanthropist and Business Development Officer at Delta Philanthropies, UK. I spoke to Joanna in depth about her role as a founding member of the Global Council of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town. This interview was facilitated by AWITA, the Association of Women in the Arts here in London during their annual conference for arts professionals, taking place at Christie's Auction House with a keynote speech by Koyo Kouoh, the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Zeitz MOCAA. Listen on to hear me ask Joanna about why philanthropy is important to her, and what her role entails as a Global Council member of the Zeitz MOCAA. I also ask her about her opinion on the management of the museum since Koyo came on as director in 2019, her perspective on the shared vision of the museum and its future, and so much more. Thank you Joanna for coming on the podcast, and to AWITA, Zeitz MOCAA, and the team at Button Collective for facilitating! Ryan Savitski returns to the show and we discuss the recent One Step Closer, Anxious and Koyo triple headlining tour, stage diving and pit etiquette, One Step Closer's 2021 LP "This Place You Know", the band's progression in sound with the release of their 2023 EP "Songs For the Willow", the making of their latest LP "All You Embrace" and some of the personal themes behind the record. We also discuss the ups and downs of life as a touring musician, our personal drive to create, Ryan's time in Anxious, his contributions to their debut LP "Little Green House" and more.
Friend of the pod David Anthony returns to dig into the state of "adjacent" sounds in hardcore. We spend a lot of time talking about death metal's current place in the genre, and wonder whether "hardcore kids making death metal" is good for either hardcore or death metal. Then, we look at the more melodic side of the spectrum: Koyo, One Step Closer, Militarie Gun, etc. How does that lane compare to what it sounded/looked like 10, 20 years ago? A lot of hypothesizing. A lot of opinions. David is always an insightful guest who basically takes the reins as a third host — and we're better for it. Check it out. For the second part of our interview with Koyo Kouoh, the chief curator and executive director of Zeitz MOCAA, we hear about how she has worked to overhaul the infrastructure of the institution internally as well as better connect the museum externally within Cape Town. Koyo talks about how “colonialism as an enterprise, as a model of global relating, has done a lot of harm that we are still mending and attending to.” She says: “That is a field of thinking, a space of emotion and knowledge that I am deeply passionate about. And that is why my investment in the space of Black geographies is so profound.”
Joining us from Cape Town in South Africa is Koyo Kouoh, the chief curator and executive director of Zeitz MOCAA for the first in a two-part special. Originally destined for a career in finance, Koyo talks about her journey into the art world, and from Basel in Switzerland to Dakar in Senegal, where she founded RAW Material Company in 2008. She tells us about her move to South Africa in 2019 to take over at Zeitz MOCAA, a new institution, but one in crisis. “We need to take the time to do the things that are urgent, that are essential, that are necessary,” Koyo says. “And, for me, building out institutions on the continent is a matter of urgency.”
Colin and Bo are back from FYA Fest 2024, and for the very first time, we're joined by festival promoter Bob Wilson himself to go in depth about the lineup, presentation and everything else that goes into putting on the first big hardcore festival of the year for 10 years and running. Also for the very first time, our HardLore On the Street segment was spliced into this episode to further enhance the overall presentation of our recap. Introducing... HARDLORE RECORDS! Introducing Words From My Teachers, a premium, weekly Everyday Buddhism podcast. Words From My Teachers features readings from the books written by and about my teachers from the Bright Dawn Center of Oneness Buddhism and the Kubose Dharma Legacy … Rev. Gyomay Kubose, Rev. Koyo Kubose, and Haya Akegarasu. This is the first of 2 episodes that will be offered as public podcast episodes … then make sure to sign up to receive them weekly through the Substack link. In this first episode, I will give a background of Bright Dawn, based on an article I wrote some years ago. I called it The Bright Dawn Center of Oneness Buddhism: Buddhism with Attitude—Keeping it REAL and ALIVE. It summarizes the history of the Kubose family and Bright Dawn and I have shared a link to a PDF of the original article in my Everyday Buddhism Substack feed. Rev. Koyo Kubose and his father, Rev. Gyomay Kubose, continued the mission started by the Japanese Pure Land teachers, Honen and Shinran—bringing the Dharma to everyone in their everyday lives. Rev. Gyomay Kubose's lifework was dedicated to promoting Buddhism in America, so that the Dharma could be part of the lives of those in a Western culture, where Buddhism was not native. It is my hope that this Words From My Teachers podcast will help keep Rev. Gyomay's and Rev. Koyo's voices alive by bringing them to listeners not familiar with the Bright Dawn teachings and reinforcing them to those who already appreciate them. Stay tuned for the next episode, with a reading from Rev. Gyomay Kubose's book, The Center Within, that will be offered as public podcast episodes … then make sure to sign up to receive them weekly, on Mondays, by subscribing to my Everyday Buddhism Substack premium content. I started the Everyday Buddhism podcast in June of 2018 so that I could share the everyday approach to Buddhism that was instilled in me by my teacher Rev. Koyo Kubose and the Bright Dawn Lay Ministry program. It is an approach that was not widely taught or communicated at the time … and, honestly, it still isn't. The lineage from which the Bright Dawn teachings derived is unique in the Dharma-sphere and its teachings are what I built my podcast and virtual sangha approach on. It is my hope that this Words From My Teachers podcast will help keep Rev. Gyomay's and Rev. First up, the enigmatic BRUJERIA hits the scene with their unique Latin-infused metal. Then, the iconic DORO takes the stage, showcasing her timeless talent. And let's not forget U.D.O., led by Udo Dirkschneider, reminding us of metal's enduring power. Rock vibes incoming! Scott Stapp shares his emotive tunes, while Mammoth WVH, Wolfgang Van Halen's project, continues the family legacy. Alice Cooper brings his signature theatrics, keeping us captivated. Shifting gears, get ready for industrial vibes from MINISTRY and Helmet's distinctive sound. SEVENDUST's melodies and Koyo's genre-blending tunes offer something different. Emotion-packed rock takes over with MOVEMENTS and Of Mice & Men. Kill The Lights brings explosive energy, and Polaris and Silent Planet offer introspection. For the heavy and extreme enthusiasts, SVALBARD and TesseracT bring progressive flair. VUKOVI's electronic infusion and AMARANTHE's genre-blurring keep us guessing. Lyrizone, CADAVER, and CRYPTOPSY bring intense sounds, while GO AHEAD AND DIE and Grand Cadaver deliver unadulterated heaviness. OBSCURA and The Amenta showcase technical mastery, Akercocke and 72 Legions delve into the dark. Underground cravings? BLACK PESTILENCE, l0rd kha0s, and Abhorrency have you covered. EGREGORE and Hiems provide atmospheric touches, Selfgod and Urfaust dive deep. Meridian Sun's melodies and GREEN LUNG's vintage rock vibes stand out. Turn up the volume with GRAVEYARD and INTHEWHALE, and brace for RINGWORM and Triple Kill's frenzied offerings. EXMORTUS and TILL THE DIRT go technical, INTERLOPER and After Earth go cosmic. Symphonic delights from BEYOND THE BLACK and EPICA, while CYHRA and Primal Fear hit hard. INDUCTION and CASKETS offer their own metal style, SiM and Void Of Vision keep things fresh. THE OMNIFIC and OBLIVION PROTOCOL impress, Spanish Love Songs tell stories, and LS Dunes, Empire State Bastard intrigue. Thunderstick and Ann Wilson close the show with finesse.

New York hardcore has a legendary list of bands that have paved the way for a younger group to join the mix. Koyo is keeping the reputation going. Hailing from Long Island, Koyo is making it known that they are here to stay and will be a band to talk about, not only when discussing the history of NY hardcore, but the current chapter of hardcore music as a whole. Koyo has been busy this year. After forming right before the pandemic, something that derailed their start a bit, they have since been making up ground. After recently wrapping up a tour with Bayside, Koyo is current En route with No Pressure and soon will be overseas this summer. Joey is a fascinating mind and is full of knowledge. He talked about going on tour with bands that have a different sound or come from another time period and what that can mean for crowd presence. Joey also discusses the current state of the hardcore genre. He believes the current growth is something Koyo and others are benefiting from. He talks about participating in the genre and trying your best to be involved because it takes the whole community for it to be successful. We get into the importance of touring and how it has a bigger meaning coming out of Covid. Discussed how Koyo came to be and how timing worked out for everyone in the group. Joey mentions being able to concentrate on Koyo as a whole but leaving the door open for a possible Typecaste gig in the future. Lastly, we spotlight finding influence from others and how his peers are his motivators. There are endless fascinating topics during this interview. Give it a listen and make sure to catch Koyo when they come to a town near you!

Today's episode of Bardown Breakdown is with TJ and Harold from one of Long Island's up-and-coming hardcore bands in Koyo! We talk about their extensive touring schedule, including their just announced tour with Bayside and I Am The Avalanche, we discussed their relationship with Pure Noise Records, and how, despite the constant desire of others to classify their music, how they're rooted in what they believe. We, of course, touch upon the state of hockey, the state of the islanders, and much more! Give it a listen and don't forget to follow! Power chords and crashing boards. Mikey and Tom talk music, hockey, and anything else that gets in their way. Tom and Mikey are lifelong friends that grew up on Long Island during the glory days of alternative music where our local bands were As Tall As Lions, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, The Sleeping, Envy on the Coast, you get the point. We spent many nights together at The Downtown, catching any pop-punk, indie, hardcore, or emo band that came through. This was not a phase, Mom! Fast forward 15 years and we are still just as passionate about the scene as we were during our girl jeans and youth XL band tees days. Tom and Mikey are also diehard New York Islanders fans, but as we like to say we are #notanislespodcast. As we got older we realized we can like more than one thing and running beside our love for music has always been our love for hockey. We have realized we are not alone in this thinking, actually there are many of us that love these two things! This podcast explores just how connected they are! NEW EPISODE EVERY TUESDAY!
