100M Americans have pre-diabetes conditions, one of the leading causes of death. By 2032 over half a billion people on Earth will have it globally. If it is 25% of US health dollars and healthcare is fifteen percent of the US economy, then imagine the size of the economic impact of not solving this globally by 2032 and beyond. It would be in the trillions, the size of many large European economies combined. Finding ways to solve or reduce the speed of this disease should be a significant priority for us. This is a discussion with Robert Booth, Glytec's chief strategy and research officer, about how to reduce that by 2032 radically.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

“Racial disparities are the blood that keeps the healthcare engine going.” How important are trust and communication in improving the health literacy of people marginalized by our healthcare system? What are some ways to build this trust, when the current state of healthcare often capitalizes on Black and Brown bodies? In this episode, Jill interviews Arnie Jones, well-known speaker and the president of ChromaHealth. Arnie shares his knowledge and insights about the ways that the healthcare system, including providers, must change in order to improve healthcare outcomes for Black people. He discusses the importance of building trust and communication from within a community, rather than the often-used ‘top-down' approach, which is often ineffective and leads to poor health outcomes and a continued deterioration of trust. Arnie also shares some shocking insights into the ways in which capitalism and racism intersect, with painful and dangerous outcomes. Recognized as an effective leader and expert in designing programs that improve patient finding and adherence to medications by enhancing industry, faith-based, medical, and community stakeholder collaboration, Arnie Joseph has more than three decades of experience in public health, pharmaceutical, and health communications industries. As a strategy to improve his clients' bottom line, Arnie has developed, launched and managed “cross-functional” coalitions dedicated to improving racial health disparities by forming strategic partnerships with over 660 medical and community stakeholders in disease hot spots in San Antonio, Miami, the Bronx, Memphis, Newark, Brooklyn, Houston, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. Qualitative analysis of Arnie's community-based programming in Baltimore was published in the Journal of National Medical Association. Arnie's passion for developing campaigns that bridge scientific data and community engagement has garnered him recognition from the medical industry, pharmaceutical executives, advocacy groups, and federal health departments, earning him certificates of commendation from the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Minority Health, Diabetes Health and Wellness Academy of NYC, and the American Diabetes Association. Chef Mattocks visits The Wealthy Speaker Show with host Paul Lawrence Vann to share insight on healthy eating at its best! His need to create meals that were tasty, nutritious and affordable led to his career as "The Poor Chef.” Appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Martha Stewart Show, CNN and The Dr. Oz Show gave him the opportunity to share what he had learned about feeding a family for less money. He became a sought-after guest on local and regional radio and television stations. Then came devastating news. Charles Mattocks had type 2 diabetes. Reading all he could about the disease made him all too aware of how little he actually had known about diabetes. He was determined to save his life and knew he had to help others do the same. The Diabetic You documentary, website and movement came out of that determination to educate and inspire people around the world. From nationwide appearances on radio and television, including CNN, to interviews with The Huffington Post, Diabetes Health and Forecast Diabetes and his blog on DoctorOz.com and more, the world is learning about Charles Mattocks' war against diabetes. He developed a diabetic-friendly, gluten-free treat called the Charles Bar that is in national distribution. He is committed to providing free health testing for people from Orlando to Atlanta and beyond. His RV Testing Tour will appear at fairs, sporting events, malls and other venues. During a recent humanitarian trip to India, Mattocks helped test hundreds for diabetes. A spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association, Chef Charles has been asked to write their next cookbook. A tireless advocate for diabetics everywhere, Charles Mattocks is determined to help stop the ravages of this deadly disease. Tune in, listen in and call in with questions at: (877) 404-1615,
