I wanted to make a video talking about boycotts, protests, and disagreements as they relate to social media platforms, with a focus on Twitch. The majority of people want to enact positive change, and come at it with good intent. I want to diverge a little from a lot of larger creators and not talk about how pointless X or Y thing is, but actually provide an actionable rubric on how to talk to corporations to enact change, and how people are Twitch are likely thinking (if they think at all) about movements like this. My objective here is to let people know that every voice matters - but also convey that protestors need to structure their actions and objectives in ways that companies can understand and act upon. I hope this will help people concerned about the very legitimate and several issues (including marginalized creators!)

In today's Daily Fix, Sony reveals the free PlayStation Plus games for September! They include 2018's Hitman 2, Overcooked: All You Can Eat, and Predator: Hunting Grounds. Hitman 2 is the second game in the World of Assassination trilogy, and is the first game in the franchise to feature co-op. Speaking of co-op, grab some friends and get cooking with Overcooked: All You Can Eat. The game includes Overcooked 1 and 2, and both those games' additional DLC. Pro tip: designate your roles among the players early on, or else you'll just yell at each other over some unwashed dishes. And finally there's Predator: Hunting Grounds, a co-op shooter that has you either hunting a Predator, or playing as one and stalking your friends. And if you're on Twitch today, you might notice a distinct lack of streamers. The Twitch community has organized a day-long boycott of the platform to protest a lack of tools to combat abuse on the platform. Hate raids on marginalized streamers have gotten out of control recently, and streamers Rek It Raven, LuciaEverBlack, and Shineypen got the hashtag #ADayOffTwitch trending. On Sunday, Hurricane Ida slammed into Louisiana, making landfall as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm. Though it was downgraded to a Category 2 storm, the hurricane brought catastrophic flooding, high storm surges, and 150mile per hour winds to low-lying coastal communities like New Orleans. The storm surge was so powerful that it even temporarily reversed the flow of the Mississippi River.   How A U.S. Vet Feels on Our Last Day in Afghanistan Tim Kudo, a former Marine captain who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, recently called the U.S. evacuation “ill-planned” and “a catastrophe for the Afghan people whom we have betrayed” in an op-ed for The New York Times. Kabul: American Withdrawal, U.S. Drone Strikes, and ISIS-K On Monday, the last U.S. military flight left Afghanistan -- a day ahead of the August 31st deadline. This early departure came just days after a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport on Thursday. It was one of the country's deadliest terrorist attacks, killing roughly 170 Afghan civilians and 13 American service members. Black Content Creators Organize One Day Boycott Against Twitch  Black digital content creators are boycotting the Twitch social media platform on Wednesday, September first with #ADayOffTwitch.
