Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer Toronto FC got a late penalty kick against the run of play, and Alejandro Pozuelo converted to snap New York City FC's six-game unbeaten streak, winning 1-0 at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night. NYCFC dominated the first half with 10 shots to TFC's three, including the best chances of the half, but Alex Bono came through with some timely saves to keep the teams level going into the locker room. Gary Mackay-Steven proved a particular threat in the first half, going just wide on a 26th-minute shot, and then setting up Alexander Ring for a 42nd-minute attempt that Bono was able to wrap up. The game continued similarly in the second half, with NYCFC looking the stronger side and getting the better chances. As in the first half, however, neither team was able to break through. Both teams brought on impact subs late, including Heber, whose 65th-minute shot on goal was the most dangerous chance of the half for the hosts. TFC had an enticing 82nd-minute chance on a Pozuelo free kick, which Omar Gonzalez headed just wide of target. The match took a sober turn in the 84th minute when Heber went down with an apparent knee injury and had to be stretchered off the field. Then, just shortly after play resumed, subs involved themselves in the storyline, as Justin Morrow fired a shot that pinged off Nicolas Acevedo's outstretched arm. That led to the penalty shout, which Pozuelo made good on. At the final whistle, NYCFC took all three points in Foxborough. They were nowhere near their best and fielded an understrength side, but a 89th minute penalty from Alejandro Pozuelo was enough for TFC to secure victory against NYCFC. In this episode, Alex and Sam are back, as usual, this time joined by Michael Singh of Waking the Red, the SBNation blog covering all things Toronto FC, Canadian Premier League and Canadian National Teams. With Michael, they look at a bunch of Toronto FC related topics, including TFC's recent unbeaten streak, what went wrong in the loss that broke the streak against the Montreal Impact, learn the best way how to beat this TFC team and much more. After that, they look at some of the individual standouts on Toronto, such as Alejandro Pozuelo, Jonathan Osorio, Michael Bradley, Pablo Piatti and Jozy Altidore, and look at how they've meshed so far as a quintet since getting their first minutes together at the start of phase 1 of the MLS return. To round off the chat with Michael, they chat about the upcoming 'Caps vs TFC clash this weekend, and hear Michael's thoughts on the game, the importance of it for Canadian Championship and MLS purposes, before rounding off with his prediction, which based on the recent 2 'Caps losses to TFC at BMO Field, is understandably in Toronto's favour. For the last 20 minutes, Alex and Sam round-off the episode by giving some final remarks on their chat with Michael, before giving some predictions of their own, with Alex going into a bit of a prognostic more similar to Michael's, while Sam leans into the chaos a bit, prompting a bet from Alex. You can find Michael on twitter @MichaelSingh94, and in writing at Waking the Red, where he does all sorts of Toronto FC pieces, and is part of a weekly Waking the Red Podcast.

Major League Soccer's long-running podcast Extratime is now available on YouTube, every Monday and Thursday at 5 pm ET! In this episode, it’s all about otherworldly performances from No. 10s. First, Alejandro Pozuelo has Andrew guzzling from the poisoned Toronto FC chalice after one of the best debuts in MLS history. Don’t forget the kids, either! Doyle says a change is underway in MLS. More domestic teenage attackers than ever before are playing and making a real impact. In the second segment, a heaping helping of #CCLFever with Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes and Peter Brownell. Who, you might ask? The man who discovered #CCLFever, of course! We are back after an international break induced hiatus to cover all of the biggest headlines to come out of the Premier League. Manchester United and Chelsea barely escaped with 3 points, for increasingly different reasons, while the race for Europa League and the race to stay in the Premier League are becoming much more dramatic. We then fly across the Atlantic to talk about Alejandro Pozuelo's debut for Toronto FC as he pretty much ended Sean Johnson's career in their huge win over NYCFC. A panenka, a scoop chip, a dominant performance.
Devang Desai of The Score is on this week's Footy Talks podcast to talk to Mitchell Tierney about the anticipated debut of Toronto FC's latest Designated Player signing, Alejandro Pozuelo. Mitchell and Devang also chat about Canada's nations league draw and preview Toronto FC vs. NYCFC.

"There's a lot of similarities between him and Victor Vazquez who obviously was a tremendous success in Toronto. For my money, he was one of the best players TFC have ever had - Giovinco included."
Sam Stejskal (National Writer, MLSsoccer.com) calls in to give the lowdown on Inter Miami’s early strategy. What sort of Designed Player model do they prefer? #MLSisBack and so are the Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast! Thanks for joining us as we provide a roundup of all the Major League Soccer action . We also look at the latest headlines and review the first round of the Concacaf Champions League. In Week 1, we saw an abundance of goals and expansion team woes. LAFC and Sporting KC gave us an early preview of Western Conference title contendors, while DC United and Atlanta United provided a glimpse into the Eastern Conference playoffs. Though only one game in, Seattle and Minnesota impressed, San Jose struggled, and the LA Galaxy debuted their 16 year-old rising star. Listen in for all our takes on these games. Off the pitch, headlines are still being made, with the LA Galaxy buying out Gio dos Santos' contract, the Chicago Fire looking to sign Nico Gaitan, and Toronto FC finalizing the deal for Alejandro Pozuelo. Nick and Mike break down what these deals mean for the respective clubs, and project that Chicago and Toronto could add enough talent to put themselves firmly in playoff contention. Finally, the hosts recap the first round of CCL, and are disappointed with Red Bulls' quarterfinal performance against Santos Laguna. This still could be the year an MLS team wins the tournament for the first time, but Sporting KC will have to overcome some tired legs, and Atlanta United will have to get out to a better start than their opening game. Thank you all for listening, and be sure to join the conversation on twitter @SOPSoccer or in the comments below. Additional thanks to our new sponsor and avid soccer supporter: Donovan Food Brokerage.
Onze commentator Peter Vandenbempt fileert elke week het voetbal in de Jupiler Pro League. Deze week staat hij stil bij leider Genk en Alejandro Pozuelo in het bijzonder.
