Abstract: Healthy aging is associated with a heterogeneous decline across cognitive functions, typically observed in language performances. Examining resting-state fMRI and neuropsychological data from 628 healthy adults (age 18-88) from the CamCAN cohort, we performed state-of-the-art graph theoretical analysis to uncover the neural mechanisms underlying this cognitive variability. At the cognitive level, our findings suggest that language processing is not an isolated function but is modulated throughout an individual's lifespan by the extent of inter-cognitive synergy between language, long-term memory, and executive functions. At the cerebral level, we show that the coupling between DMN (Default Mode Network) and FPN (Fronto-Parietal Network) regions may be the way for the brain to compensate for the effects of dedifferentiation at a minimal cost, efficiently mitigating the age-related cognitive decline in language production, fluid processing, and verbal fluency. Notably, the dynamic of cognitive resilience provided by this synergistic coupling seems to follow the Seneca effect typically found in complex systems: a slow rise followed by an abrupt decline. Specifically, we argue that reducing the DMN-FPN coupling could trigger accelerated cognitive decline around age 50. We summarize our findings in a novel SENECA model (Synergistic, Economical, Nonlinear, Emergent, Cognitive Aging), integrating connectomic and cognitive perspectives within a complex system perspective. Our study furthers our understanding of the dedifferentiation-compensation mechanisms that uphold inter-cognitive functioning during healthy aging and suggests that the fifth decade of life could transition towards less synergistic processing. Relieving humans from repetitive, hazardous, and unpleasant tasks, decreasing costs and eliminating errors are perhaps the most obvious benefits of automation. But are they the most critical? Even before General Electric coined the term ‘automation' in 1947, workers worried about the implication of technology on their jobs and the security of employment. As early as 1936, the Trades Union Congress in the UK issued a leaflet demanding “a larger share of the benefits of increased output through innovation, with a shorter working week, a shorter working life and compensation to redundant workers.” The point is that automation does not automate jobs. It automates tasks. For some people, automation has helped bring about a better standard of living and a more varied life, more efficient use of time, goods and materials, and an increased understanding of the world in which we live, which is critical in the context of the post-Covid Great Resignation or Great Re-Evaluation. Andreea Baciu, Chief Culture Officer at UiPath, the first Romanian unicorn and a global software automation company, speaks with Andrew Wrobel about automation for good and about people being at the heart of automation both as enablers and beneficiaries. In acest episod am placerea de a vorbi cu o doamna a educatiei, o persoana care nu numai ca schimba oameni si generatii, dar schimba un sistem educational prin puterea exemplului. Pornind de la infiintarea unei gradinite intr-un apartament, a ajuns sa fondeze una dintre cele mai reputate unitati de invatamant din Romania, Transylvania College. A practicat sportul, si mai exact atletismul, din care nu numai ca si-a extras un stil de viata, dar il si foloseste ca metoda educationala in proiectele pe care le conduce. Am vorbit in acest episod despre valori, antrenori, sportivi, profesori si parinti. Doamnelor si domnilor... Simona Baciu!

Magdalena explains that perspective is required to create the mental space needed for the super-conscious to do what it does best, and offers tips on how to activate more of your super-conscious mind. She also touches on alchemy and how we can take negative experiences and turn them into something valuable.

The bassline of the songs seems very strong to me, but the sounds on the back are as interesting as the bassline. Most of the songs are released this year, I like the new sound, I try to go on new episodes, not old ones. I think the sounds combined perfectly, making for a minimal atmosphere, but a little groovy. Some pieces are from Vlad Arapasu, an artist who combines several genres into one song, which is why I chose his pieces. I think that this set also has house influences, some pieces being from outside the country, I consider that outside the country the house is more promoted than the minimal. I did not want to introduce tech-house pieces because they are too hard for me, in a set I think the minimal pieces are the most suitable, because they are pleasing to the ears, and the noisy ones like the tech-house are perfect for a party. In Episode #4, Rabbi Hannah Spiro interviews Alina Baciu. Alina works for the National Academy of Sciences, and specializes in population health. Alina talks about immigrating from Romania as a teenager, how she entered the field of public health, and also talks about planning a bat mitzvah during a pandemic. Alina's daughter has been preparing to become a bat mitzvah, and the lockdown has prompted changes in plans. Alina's son also makes a cameo.
