Salim Akram is a live sound engineer specializing in mixing monitors. He currently works as the Monitor Engineer for seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist Billie Eilish and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer and artist Finneas.  In 2019, he was featured in FOH Magazine and was a Parnelli nominee for the Monitor Engineer of the Year. After attending Art Institute of New England, Salim began to synthesize his technical skills in engineering with his life-long passion for playing music. He and his closest friends co-founded the band Bad Rabbits, where Salim would go on to not only tour with major artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Steve Aoki, Allen Stone, and Taking Back Sunday – but he would have the opportunity to work with producers Teddy Riley, Michael Elizondo, James Fauntleroy, et. al. in the studio. Bad Rabbits has won numerous Boston Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, perform as guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Arsenio Hall, and Craig Ferguson, and perform at huge festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Reading and Leeds, and SXSW. While Bad Rabbits was writing music and taking an interlude on touring, Salim dove head-first into regular house engineering roles with local venues owned and operated by Bowery/AEG and City Winery, while simultaneously expanding his freelancing repertoire to include contract work for corporate juggernauts such as Dell, Apple, and Google, as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Chanel, Puma, Sephora, and the Simmons Leadership Conference. However, when he was asked to build the touring monitor rig for Glassjaw, he realized it was just the catalyst he needed to get back on the road.  Salim was introduced to Ms. Eilish in 2018 and continues to work as her Monitor Engineer through today. In January of 2018, Ricky joined FlyQuest to establish a content arm of the organization. My guest is Sheel Davè, drummer for Bad Rabbits. This chat was a long time coming, and was interesting in the sense that I didn't really ask Sheel many questions, just let him tell me what has been going on with BR over the last few years. Sheel reveals why the band has been on a bit of a hiatus, as well as taking about why the band has chosen to go back to being an independent band. How the band was ahead of a trend that is now gaining popularity for mainstream artists like Bruno Mars, and how label people laughed at their music. We find how much of what Sheel's been able to do within the Bad Rabbits world comes from his time in his other band, Irepress, and how everything has ties to that...including how Sheel and I first met over 10 years ago. Sheel shares what the band has in store for fans in 2018, starting with their new Rihanna cover song out just in time for Valentines Day, Love on the Brain. Sheel gives us an up close and personal look into the world of Bad Rabbits. You'll hear about working with famed producer Teddy Riley, how the internet has actually helped them, and navigating the dangerous waters of the music industry. He's also touches on his choice of gear, overcoming serious back problems, and why using Tommy Lee's 30" bass drum wasn't the best choice in the studio.

The American Dream. That's how drummer Sheel describes his band, Bad Rabbits. They've made a lot of waves since the release of their debut album, American Love, and plan to make more with their hectic 2014 schedule. We talk about honing his craft in The Eclectic Collective, playing with rapper Slick Rick, and the sonic evolution of Bad Rabbits.    A metal drummer at heart, Sheel also describes his relationship with the Deftones' Abe Cunningham, The Soul Train Wall of Death, and... what's up with them bootys on the CD covers!
