Hailing from Nottingham, Those Once Loyal have been on quite the journey since last releasing music. One of the reasons being due to a revolving door of bassists, but this has now led to them finally having a solid line up. Since the release of their 2023 EP 'Relentless Cycle' they have played many shows around the Midlands area, something that has helped get their name out there and seem them play higher profile shows such as with Atreyu, Heart of a Coward, Attila, Rxptrs, High on Fire, Cane Hill and Kill the Lights. If all of this wasn't enough, they also landed a spot at the prestigious festival, Bloodstock Open Air, playing the Jägermeister stage in 2023. Now, they're back, and ready to unleash new music. Starting with a new single called ‘Glass Hands', out on April 11th, 2025, alongside a video. Glass Hands is a song that perfectly encapsulates the combination of modern hardcore bands with the driving aggressive riffs of 00's metalcore to create a song with a driving rhythm that blends both eras of metal together and shows how evolution and history can be one! Lyrically, the song uses themes of control and manipulation, to which lines such as "One day your influence will lose its hold. You'll never ever have control" Pertaining to the idea that egocentric control will lose its grasp in time. Pre-Save it on Spotify here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/thoseonceloyal/glass-hands We spoke to guitarist and backing vocalist, Oscar Gutkowski about the new single, and the journey that Those Once Loyal have been on to get to this point. fWotD Episode 2764: Battle of Cane Hill Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Thursday, 28 November 2024 is Battle of Cane Hill. The battle of Cane Hill was fought between Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War on November 28, 1862, in northwestern Arkansas, near the town of Cane Hill. Confederate Major General Thomas C. Hindman had made an abortive offensive into southwestern Missouri from Arkansas earlier in the year, but had withdrawn to Arkansas. Union troops under Brigadier General James G. Blunt had followed Hindman into northwestern Arkansas, and the Confederate general saw an opportunity to attack Blunt while his division was separated from the rest of the Union Army of the Frontier. Hindman then sent a force under Brigadier General John S. Marmaduke to Cane Hill, which was also known as Boonsboro, to collect supplies. In early November, a detachment of Blunt's command led by Colonel William F. Cloud defeated a small Confederate force commanded by Colonel Emmett MacDonald in the Cane Hill area. After MacDonald's defeat, Marmaduke remained in the Cane Hill area with his force. Blunt moved to attack Marmaduke on November 27. The Confederates expected the Union attack to come up the Cincinnati Road, but it instead followed the Ridge Road and then the Fayetteville Road. Cloud's men led the Union advance and made contact with Colonel Joseph O. Shelby's Confederate troopers on the morning of November 28. Shelby withdrew from the Cane Hill area after an artillery duel, and Marmaduke reformed his line in the Newburg area.Due to the Union artillery advantage, the Confederates fell back from Newburg to an elevation known as Reed's Mountain. Shelby conducted a rear-guard action by having a series of small forces confront the Union before falling back and allowing the next line to engage. The Confederates made a stand at Reed's Mountain, but were forced to withdraw. Blunt continued to pursue, and several miles south of the John Morrow house, Confederate troops led by Colonel Charles A. Carroll laid an ambush for Blunt's leading elements. The Confederates then presented a flag of truce as a ruse to give themselves time to withdraw from the field. In early December, Hindman moved to attack Blunt's force, but Union reinforcements from Springfield, Missouri, under the command of Brigadier General Francis J. Herron arrived in time to aid Blunt. The ensuing Battle of Prairie Grove was fought on December 7. While the outcome of the fighting was inconclusive, Hindman withdrew from the field and the Union retained control of Missouri and northwestern Arkansas. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:30 UTC on Thursday, 28 November 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Battle of Cane Hill on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Aria.

This week on the Bandhive Podcast, I'm speaking with Ryan Camuto of Royal Hearts. At first glance, Royal Hearts may seem like any other regional band… But that's where you'd be wrong. You see, not only can Royal Hearts bring 50 people to a show, Ryan does it (almost) alone as the rest of the band lives several hours away and can't offer “boots on the ground” promotional efforts. Royal Hearts are doing the work, and have been rewarded with opening slots for bands such as Cane Hill, Emery, and We Came as Romans - and they didn't even have to ask. Listen to now to hear Ryan discuss how Royal Hearts has harnessed their strengths to put on a great show, grow their fanbase, and stay active online! Like the old adage goes all good things must come to an end and for this episode, Mike, Keith and Mel choose their songs for what they think would be good TV series ending finale songs. They all agreed that the Joint Pick (puff, puff, pass) would be fitting of any TV show that has a hero walking off into the distance. Mike throws in an old school song that couldn't be any better for a TV show that is a little on the bad side and Mel shares a new song that would definitely fit a TV series that would leave us all in tears. Of course, no episode is complete without the Genre Bender and Keith's bringing it this week with his pick. Join these three for their usual silliness and you never know when Tori will show up.

A Guided Tour of the Historic Cane Hill Museum Walk with us as we explore the Historic Cane Hill Museum. This show is our second in a series of two episodes. The first episode, "Still On Cane Hill," explored the musical project "Cane Hill" written by folk duo Kelly and Donna Mulhullan of Still On The Hill . In this episode of Arts & Letters, we take a guided tour of the Historic Cane Hill Museum with Lawrence McElroy, Museum Curator and Director of Arts and Culture of Historic Cane Hill, Inc. We explore artifacts and stories of the Northwest Arkansas town, which was once one of the most densly populated towns in the American west. Settle in on your front porch rocking chairs and listen to musical tales of Doc Bean, Cousin Annie's Apple Pie, the Trail of Tears, and JD Wilbur's Pottery—all from the historic Northwest Arkansas town, Cane Hill. On this episode of Arts & Letters, we’ll be talking with musicians Kelly and Donna Mulhollan of the musical group Still On The Hill about their musical project Cane Hill -- a historical town with its Main Street, college, fountain on the square, and town doctor. Cane Hill was the first settlement in Northwest Arkansas in the late 1820’s. The town became a burgeoning center for farming, commerce, and education, with the state's first public school, public library, and Sunday School. Also, in 1852 it was the first college to admit women for the seminary program, and then in 1875 officially admitted women for degrees. During the Civil War, it was also the site of several minor engagements, and under Union control, the College became a temporary hospital to care for troops.

From New Orleans, the band Cane Hill is currently on tour with some of the nicest dudes in rock. Sevendust, Mark Tremonti and Cane Hill make a stop in OKC at the Diamond Ballroom in March and would be worth the drive. Devin Clark joins the DOMKcast for the first time this week. The band got their name from a psychiatric hospital in the UK and has a Alice In Chains feel to their sound. Devin said "Jar Of Flies" influenced their band heavily. Cane Hill will be performing at DreamHack gaming festival this year with Trivium and Hyro The Hero. Are the guys gamers? We asked Devin to give his Mt. Rushmore of Video Games. No old school Nintendo games made it on the list much to the chagrin of Lunchbox. Kill The Sun is the name of their new album. Devin went more in depth about the recording process and response from his fans. See Cane Hill this year while they are on the road with Sevendust and Mark Tremonti. Full conversation with Devin Clark of Cane Hill can be found on episode 87 of the DOMKcast. #DOMKRocks New episodes available every Friday at 2pm on the iHeartRadio app. Just type in DOMKcast.
