Quick comedy question: Can you name a time when, during an oral argument, a Supreme Court Justice made everyone laugh? How about December 11th, 2000: KLOCK: I think what the Florida Supreme Court should do in that instance is note the very tight restrictions that exist under the protest phase. They require that you find voter intent with respect to a damaged ballot. They also vest it in the canvassing board, and the canvassing board is composed of a defined group of officials, a county judge, the elections supervisor and the chairman of the county commission. It is very limited. SOUTER: But that means the court apparently cannot define "legal vote." KLOCK: That's correct. SCALIA: Mr. Klock? I'm Scalia. KLOCK: Yes, sir; I'll remember that. That was Justice Antonin Scalia's legendary crack to a forgetful attorney during Bush versus Gore. And it was hardly the only time Justice Scalia brought down the Court. In the latest episode of C-SPAN's podcast "Extreme Mortman," hear many more hilarious Scalia moments. Because it's our annual Supreme Court Comedy Festival – and this year we feature just one Justice. One very funny Justice. What were Antonin Scalia's funniest one-liners in oral arguments? So rennt 'n ganzen Schwung Tiern no den Fluss, üm sick op de anner Sied in Seekerheit to bringen. Annere rennt kopplos achteran. In de Meern vun den Fluss bitt de Slang ehrn Retter overs in Hals. Ick an dien Gift un Du versuupst.“ „Na jo“, kümmt dor vun boben trüch, „wat hest Du denn dacht? Ick bün 'n Slang‘. Bieten liggt in mien Natuur.“ Denn sünd beide doot, un de Geschicht is to Enn. Jo. Un betrocken op düssed Stück kümmt mi uns‘ Regeerung jüst so naiv vör, as de Biber in de Not. Dat steiht doch so in't Gesetz. Un Profit to moken liggt nu mol in ehr Natuur. Ut de Konzerne ward keen Sozialisten, blots weil dat ehr Kunnen jüst ni so good geiht. Overs so'n lütt beten hinkt de Vergliek. Un wenn man Wirtschopsministerin Reiche no Stüüersenkung‘ bi'n Sprit froogt, denn seggt se direkt: „Nä, leeve Lüüd. Dor kümmt nix no!“ De Regeerung is in düssen Fall also mehr de Katteeker, de vun de ganze Sook profiteert: De Biber kann de Bööm op de anner Sied vun Fluss ni mehr afnogen, un de Slang kann em ni mehr bieten. Dat heuert sick no'n tehmli schlau'n Plon an. In düssen Sinn

In this episode, the hosts explore how mission-driven CPG brands are moving beyond preachy messaging and into a new era of modern moderation, one rooted in balance, authenticity, and consumer trust.  Plus, we sit down with beverage industry veteran Kevin Klock, who's back in the game as the co-founder and CEO of moringa-infused brand Orange Toucan, and Keegan Fong, the founder of Woon, a culture-forward pantry brand inspired by a family's beloved Chinese restaurants. Show notes: 0:25: MIA. Done Dry. Don't Lecture Me. A Good "Bully." Pop The Top. Too Much Tallow? Boop Me. – The team promotes an upcoming Miami meetup on February 18th at Casa La Rubia, encouraging founders to bring product samples. They also discuss how consumer attitudes around Dry January and wellness marketing are shifting away from rigid "all-or-nothing" messaging toward balance, moderation, and authenticity. The hosts shift to product samplings, including a new line of spirit-free canned cocktails, a brand of coffee beans with explosive packaging, beef tallow tortilla chips, BFY instant soups, protein shots, and corn snacks flavored with Vietnamese coffee. 19:58: Interview: Kevin Klock, Co-Founder & CEO, Orange Toucan – Kevin Klock shares the origins of Orange Toucan and his partnership with co-founders Rob Snell and Sandy Wheeler, creator of Bowflex. He explains how the moringa-infused beverages, blended with ginger and turmeric, are designed to support inflammation reduction and blood sugar management, highlighting Wheeler's own experience with the products. Klock also discusses the brand's approach to consumer education through online channels and trusted influencers. 28:11: Interview: Keegan Fong, Founder, Woon – Keegan explains the meaning of "Woon" and how the brand took shape during the COVID pandemic. He discusses Woon's growth to more than 500 stores nationwide, with products like Mama's Way hot sauce, a versatile stir-fry sauce, and other pantry staples. Keegan also shares how building an online following helped fuel retail expansion and create a full-circle brand experience connecting the restaurant and packaged goods. "We're connected with the beginnings." The Berghain residents talk about underground values, leaving behind expectations and their debut collaborative album. In recent years, techno seems to have divided itself into two camps: those in favor of new sounds, including the hard, the fast and the maximal, and those who've reacted by taking the sound back to its original, no-frills roots. In the latter camp are Berghain residents Ben Klock and Fadi Mohem, two German artists who have become figureheads for a classic, stripped-back style. Though they're a generation apart, they've firmly aligned themselves with the faction trying to keep techno underground and understated. In this Exchange, Klock and Mohem speak about why old-school values and sensibilities remain so important to their work. And what specifically has captured Mohem—and his younger cohorts—who were born after the first iteration of this sound took shape? The duo have been DJing and making music together with increasing frequency over the last few years, celebrating and expanding upon the seeds of this style together. Mohem and Klock also discuss LAYER ONE, their beautiful album from 2024 that combines techno with IDM, ambient and experimental, featuring vocal appearances by UK artists Coby Sey and Flowdan. They talk about this departure from their typical style, which imagines a post-human world where AI reigns supreme. Klock also reflects on his connection to Berghain, his unexpected career as a DJ and the key to long-lasting relevance in a scene that never slows down. Listen to the episode in full. -Chloe Lula
