Bente Klarlund Pedersen er en ildsjæl og rebel med det videnskabelige grundlag på plads. Hun har længe været en stemme i sundheds-debatten og er både brevkasseredaktør og forfatter ved siden af sin forskningspraksis, som hun udøver i Center for aktiv sundhed, som hun også er direktør for. Hun formidler med lyst og passion, og fordi hun vil og kan gøre en forskel.  Et mere holistisk sundhedsvæsen er noget, som mange patienter ønsker, og Bente Klarlund tror på, at fremtidens sundhedsvæsen vil være langt bedre til at tage udgangspunkt i det enkelte 'hele' menneske. Hun er ikke i tvivl om, at psyken har betydning for vores fysiske tilstand. Bente Klarlund har længe forsket i motions betydning for kroppen og har mange spændende resultater. Et af studierne, som hun har lavet sammen med en anden forsker, Pernille Højman, viser, at motion har positiv indflydelse på cancer og nedsætter risikoen for tilbagefald. Vi er skabt til at løbe. Der er flere ting, der spiller ind på, hvor gode vi bliver til at bevæge os af sted på stængerne. Men hvis man er i træning, kan man løbe de fleste pattedyr trætte. Faktisk bare med undtagelse af kamelen, som er verdensmester i langdistanceløb.
