Cash Is King with Peter W. Kingma In this episode of The Profit Answer Man, we sit down with Peter W. Kingma, author of CASH IS KING and leader of Ernst & Young LLP's working capital practice in the Americas. With over 30 years of experience advising global companies on all things cash management, Peter joins us to discuss why cash flow is the true backbone of business success and how business owners can shift their focus from profit-and-loss statements to developing a “cash culture.” Peter provides actionable strategies for managing the five steps from order-to-cash, improving collections, and boosting cash flow through better customer management. We also dive into the importance of supply chain management and discuss how creating a “Cash Leadership Office” can transform the financial health of any organization. In this episode, you will learn: Why Building a Cash Culture is Essential: Peter explains why focusing solely on profit-and-loss statements can lead businesses astray, and how a cash-centered approach ensures long-term financial stability. The Order-to-Cash Process: Learn the five key steps in the order-to-cash process that businesses must optimize to maintain healthy cash flow and avoid liquidity crunches. Strategies for Effective Collections: Peter shares five tips for managing customer relationships and disputes to improve collections and cash conversion cycles. Supply Chain Management for Cash Flow: Discover how better supply chain management can keep your cash flowing smoothly, even during challenging economic times. Creating a Cash Leadership Office: How establishing a dedicated leadership team to focus on cash flow can enhance your bottom line and allow for sustainable business growth. Key Takeaways: Cash Over Profits: Even large companies struggle to manage cash effectively. Business owners must understand that cash flow is more critical than simply showing a profit. Sales ≠ Profit, and Profit ≠ Cash: Peter emphasizes that even profitable sales can be harmful if cash isn't collected on time. Businesses must prioritize cash flow management alongside sales and profit. Avoiding Cash Flow Pitfalls: Common mistakes, such as offering long payment terms or failing to consider the financial impact of customer service agreements, can cripple cash flow. Aligning Teams with Cash Goals: Often, sales teams are incentivized based on revenue, not cash collection. Aligning incentives with cash goals can prevent cash shortfalls and improve business sustainability. Bio: Peter W. Kingma is the author of CASH IS KING and leads the working capital practice for Ernst & Young LLP in the Americas. With over 30 years of experience advising global companies, Peter specializes in cash management and working capital strategies across industries such as manufacturing, consumer products, aerospace, and defense. He has contributed to publications like CFO Magazine and CNBC, and is passionate about helping businesses build a cash-centric culture. Conclusion: Cash is the lifeblood of any business, and without careful management, even the most successful organizations can run into trouble. In this episode, Peter Kingma provides valuable insights into how business owners, large or small, can develop a cash-focused mindset and manage their operations for long-term financial health. By implementing the strategies Peter outlines, you can ensure your business not only survives but thrives, no matter what economic challenges you face. Peter W. Hart is a self-taught, Montreal artist. He fell in love with painting at the age of 39 by chance while flipping through a book that included a reproduction of Degas' “Dancers”. This painting was a revelation to him and awakened a sudden and intense passion for art - especially for the works of the "Impressionists". Inspired by the paintings of iconic artists like Monet, Renoir, Manet, Courbet, Pissarro, and Van Gogh, Peter began painting and travelling the world to admire the original masterpieces. Painting started as a hobby in 1989 to relieve the stress of running one of the world's leading employee recognition companies. After the successful sale of the company in 2019, painting has now become Peter's full-time vocation. In his paintings, Hart crystallizes his moods, transposing his emotions onto canvas, wood, and other materials. Imbued with fiery energy, Peter's works never leave the viewer unmoved. Vivid and expressive, his pieces are inspired by figurative paintings from another era but are eminently contemporary. His colour palette, composed mainly of primary colours, is radiant. Each stroke is lively and assertive - the textures rich, and the movement compelling. Today, Peter finds joy in harnessing the spontaneity of acrylic and the three-dimensional density of mixed media using everyday items such as noodles, rice, and beads. Peter's works are an “ode to life.” They are defined in different collections; sometimes impactful like his close-ups of tulips and sunflowers; sometimes sunny and more languid such as his landscapes with fields and bodies of water; and sometimes purely abstract compositions with bold strokes and convoluted spirals. Peter often favours large or atypical canvases — in various shapes and dimensions, and often diptychs — but what's striking is that each of his paintings, even the smallest, has a strong and flamboyant presence that seems to extend beyond their frame, generously occupying a space of their own. A prolific artist, Peter permanently exhibits his work at his self-titled gallery located in the heart of Old Montreal. This is where he stays in touch with more than 1,200 collectors from over 30 different countries. He also participates in group exhibitions and finds immense pleasure in holding workshops with various charities, specifically, the homeless and kids who are traumatized or intellectually handicapped. In this episode, Peter talks about his formative years growing up and what inspired him to become a creative artist. Peter is also a former water polo player on the Canadian Men's National Team. He played with some of the best water polo players that ever played for Canada. Many of his former teammates have been recognized and have made it into the Canadian Water Polo Hall of Fame. Peter talks about the brotherhood he and his teammates fostered. He believes this is one of the reasons his water polo generation was so great! Afterwards, Peter talks about his entrepreneurial spirit. He was the CEO and President of Rideau, Inc. He worked with the company for 50 years. Peter discusses how he helped build a better world for people, businesses and communities by focusing on the power of recognition. He also explains how anyone can learn how to foster creativity, innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset. Peter then talks about what separates a good artist from a great artist. Lastly, he provides his definition of greatness and what it means to him. __ Host: Ben Mumme Twitter: https://twitter.com/mumme_ben Medium: https://benjaminmumme.medium.com/ YouTube: https://bit.ly/3fAcFrt Newsletter: https://bit.ly/3DBkSWv Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingyourg... __ Guest: Peter Hart Website: https://peterwhart.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterwhart/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/peterwhart17/?hl=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PETERwHARTGallery/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/PeterWHart __ Let's Connect

Wer entscheidet nun aber, was "möglichst gut davonkommen" bedeutet? In this episode Pastor Raef looks at the idea that the evidence of Christianity is written in human history. Many of the norms and standards of the modern world we live in have been gifted to us from Christians. No other worldview was able to develop systems like: hospitals, education, liberty and justice for all, women's rights, abolition of slavery, protection for infants, largescale charity, economic freedom, and more. Why was Christianity able to accomplish so much. Was it accidental? No, these ideas and many more are fruit of the Christian worldview. The soil of no other worldview is capable of producing these fruits.ResourcesMilton, Michael A. Foundations of Moral Government. United States: Tanglewood Publishing, 2019.Reid, W. Stanford. In this special holiday episode of The American Idea, we are privileged to share with you a very special Christmas story.A story of hope and freedom, of overcoming tyranny and opression, of finding love for a country and its ideas. A story of a boy whose father gave him the gift of America. This is the story of Peter Schramm.Peter was born in Hungary in 1946. Fleeing the Soviet invasion of Hungary ten years later, Peter famously asked his father why they were going to America. “Because, son. We were born Americans, but in the wrong place.” He would devote the rest of his life to studying and teaching about what that meant. He received a B.A. degree from California State University Northridge and went on to earn a Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate School. With the help of figures like Harry Jaffa, Peter came to understand what his father already knew: why – as Peter's hero Abraham Lincoln put it – America is “the last best hope of Earth.”Peter was a co-founder of the Claremont Institute for the Study of Statesmanship and Political Philosophy, and became its founding President. He later left Claremont to work for Bill Bennett in the U.S. Secretary of Education under the Reagan administration. It was at the end of Reagan's tenure in office that Peter came to Ashbrook. President Reagan famously inaugurated Ashbrook in 1983, but five years in, it was still in its infancy and looking for its purpose. Over time, Peter would give Ashbrook a purpose.Peter served as the Executive Director of Ashbrook from 1997 to 2013 and a professor of political science at Ashland University until his death in 2015. Under his leadership, Ashbrook grew into a national organization, reaching students, teachers, and citizens in all 50 states. But his most enduring legacy is the students who he personally challenged and inspired in the classroom to be the best human beings and citizens they can be.This is Peter's story, "Born American, but in the Wrong Place," as recounted by him in 2006.Host: Jeff SikkengaExecutive Producer: Greg McBrayerProducer: Tyler MacQueen
A little-known family investment office made big news this week... Archegos Capital Management's risky leveraged bets on ViacomCBS Inc. and Discovery Inc. set off a wave of forced liquidations at a number of Wall Street Banks. Estimates show Bill Hwang, the man behind Archegos, levered his positions as much as 5X and so far has triggered the liquidations of positions approaching $30 billion in value. Dan takes a deep look at this story of greed and hubris before leaving listeners with one crystal clear takeaway. Then Dan invites Tucker Walsh onto the show for a conversation about one of the hottest sectors of the market over the past year – small cap growth stocks. Tucker is head of the Small Company Growth Team and lead Portfolio Manager at Polen Capital's U.S. Small Company Growth strategy. Prior to joining Polen Capital Tucker spent 10 years as CEO at Copper Rock Capital Partners and 9 years as Managing Director and Head of Small Cap Growth Team at State Street Research. Tucker and his team look to invest in fast-growing, disruptive businesses that use technology to compete in the digital age. But he stresses that profitability is important, and discipline is critical when you're investing in this space. Thoroughly researching and investigating each company and objectively looking at both best and worst case scenarios without getting attached is key. During their conversation, Tucker shares the name of a few stocks he thinks could have massive potential in the coming years and are great buys right now. Then on the mailbag, listener Peter W. writes in explaining why he was not happy with Dan's interview last week... He argues Dan and Per left out some pretty important details during the conversation about regulations. Dan listens to Peter's side and gives his rebuttal to this question and many more on this week's episode.
Fr. Jason comes on the podcast to discuss the Divine Worship of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, his conversion, and the importance of the Anglican patrimony in the Catholic Church.

We talk to Peter about Nightingale Health's work with the UK Biobank, including recent research that shows their blood test could be used predict severe COVID19 well before onset of symptoms. The company's vision includes not just population-scale research like the UKBiobank, but creating a system that is focused on prevention and early detection rather than treatment.
