Today on The Social, Mark Carney secures a majority government after the Liberals sweep three byelections. And, the WNBA’s Toronto Tempo sign Canadian guard Kia Nurse. Then, Donald Trump deletes a post depicting himself as Jesus. Is this the last straw for his predominantly Christian supporters? Plus, is an orgasm the best gift a partner can give? And, do “situationships” get an unfair bad rap? Featuring actor and comedian Tom Hearn.
Scripture: John 14:15-17,Romans 8:16,Ephesians 1:13,John 16:14,Acts 1:8,Acts 4:13 Speaker: Scott Meyer Summary: This sermon concludes a series on the Holy Spirit by emphasizing that it is impossible to fully follow Jesus without the Spirit's presence actively connecting us to Him. Drawing from Gospel of John chapters 14–16, the message explains that the Holy Spirit shapes our obedience through love, secures our belonging with permanence, and reveals Christ's mission through our lives. Rather than striving to earn God's approval, believers are “sign, sealed, and sent,” living from a secure relationship marked by the Spirit's lasting presence. Referencing passages like Romans 8 and Ephesians 1, the sermon reminds listeners that the Spirit testifies to their identity as God's children and seals them as His own. Ultimately, Christians are called not to perform or live anxiously, but to rest in the Spirit's connection to Christ—allowing His life to shape their obedience, steady their hearts, and shine through them even in suffering.
For 22 February 2026, The First Sunday of Lent, based on Romans 5:12–19
Scripture: John 16, 1 Corinthians 2:10-16, Romans 12:2 Speaker: Scott Meyer Summary: This sermon teaches that following Jesus in a world filled with confusion and deception requires the guidance of the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus promises in John 16 as the Spirit of truth. Using the image of a smoke-filled room, the Scott explains how lies—rooted in Satan's deception—distort our understanding of sin, righteousness, and judgment, but the Spirit anchors believers in what is truly wrong, what is right through Christ, and who ultimately wins. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 2, the message emphasizes that the Spirit reveals truth to us, about us—especially our identity in Christ—and through us, giving believers the mind of Christ and the courage to speak boldly. The Spirit primarily works through Scripture, the renewing of our minds, and life in Christian community, reshaping our thinking and exposing lies we believe about ourselves. Ultimately, the Spirit does not create a new reality but reveals the vibrant truth already present in Christ, anchoring believers in clarity, renewing their identity, and empowering them to live and witness with confidence.
Thanks for joining us for part 2 of our 4 part series on Love. During February everywhere you look the world is talking about love. This is supposed to be the season of romance and affection with tons of heart shaped items and roses exchanged to signify, I Love You. But this episode is taking a different approach to discuss a very special gift, the gift of self. Through out the hour we will be sharing answers and reflections centered around St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body. Adele, Becki and content partner, Colby Allen, will introduce us to JP II's thoughts on the concept of Gift of Self and how it can be the best gift ever shared with those you love. Our team will share why the call to love doesn't begin with romance but with God. It begins in the way he created us and it begins as it did with Adam before before Eve, in solitude. A solitude that reveals our identity as well as our purpose.
Scripture: John 14, John 15, Galatians 5:22-23 Speaker: Scott Meyer Summary: This sermon teaches that when life pressures and “cracks” us, what spills out reveals what is truly inside, and behavior modification alone cannot produce the character of Jesus. Jesus promises in John 14 that the Holy Spirit is our Helper—an Advocate who dwells within believers to make possible what is otherwise impossible, such as loving enemies, forgiving deep wounds, and living with joy in hardship. Rather than trying harder to improve ourselves, we are called to “remain” or abide in Christ, staying connected to Him so the Spirit can form His life within us. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—is not produced by willpower but grows naturally from a surrendered, Spirit-filled life. Ultimately, the message urges believers to stop decorating the outside and instead depend on the Holy Spirit to transform the inside, praying in life's hardest moments, “Spirit, what would love look like right now?”

Scripture: John 14:15-17, John 16:7, Luke 11:11-13 Speaker: Scott Meyer Summary: This sermon begins a yearlong focus on following Jesus as disciples who seek to be with Him, become like Him, and do what He did. Scott's emphasis is that fully following Jesus is impossible in our own strength as he introduces a new series on the Holy Spirit as essential to living the disciple's life. Drawing from Gospel of John chapters 14–16 and Gospel of Luke chapter 11, he explains that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit as an Advocate and declared it better for believers that He go away so God could dwell within them. He emphasizes two core truths: the Holy Spirit is fully God and the Holy Spirit is a good gift from a loving Father, empowering believers from the inside rather than merely guiding them from beside them. Concluding with the testimony of a transformed life, he urges the church to recognize and rely on the Spirit's supernatural power, which enables true spiritual transformation and faithful discipleship.

In this episode of The Estrange Heart Podcast, Kreed discusses the often misunderstood concept of 'owning your shit.' She emphasizes that this is not merely a moral virtue but rather a matter of emotional and relational capacity. Kreed explores the dynamics of accountability, identity threat, and shame, particularly in parent-child relationships. She highlights the importance of understanding one's capacity to engage in accountability and the potential harm of pushing for apologies without readiness. The conversation also delves into the significance of setting boundaries with compassion and the true essence of ownership in healing relationships.TakeawaysOwning your shit is about capacity, not morality.Identity threat can lead to existential crises for parents.Shame activation can shut down communication and reflection.Pushing for accountability without capacity can cause more harm.Maturity in relationships means understanding one's limits. The goal is to avoid adding harm in the name of truth.www.TheEstrangedHeart.comEmail: hello@TheEstrangedHeart.comWork with Kreed: https://theestrangedheart.com/services(private coaching, mediation, support groups, webinars, etc.)The Heart Collective: https://theestrangedheart.com/membershipFacebook Support Group for Estranged Moms (facilitated by Kreed)https://www.facebook.com/groups/estrangedmotherssupportgroupTo support the podcast and Kreed's work with estranged and reconciled parents and adult children: https://buymeacoffee.com/kreedrevere

Description: If you have ever lost your cool with your kids and then felt the crushing wave of guilt that comes sweeping in after—this episode is for you. This week, Jen and Amy sit down with psychotherapist and emotions educator Hilary Jacobs Hendel, author of ‘It's Not Always Depression' and the new book ‘Parents Have Feelings, Too', to talk about what happens when we stop ignoring our own emotions and start bringing more calm, curiosity, and compassion into our families. Hilary shares her groundbreaking Change Triangle model—a simple but powerful tool that helps us move from anxiety, shame, and reactivity to understanding what's really underneath: our core emotions like anger, sadness, fear, and joy. Together, they unpack: How to break cycles we inherited from our own parents What “open-hearted parenting” looks like in real life How to repair when we've said or done something we regret And why healing our emotions may be the greatest legacy we give our kids It's a conversation full of science, self-compassion, and deep sighs of relief—a reminder that parents have feelings too, and that tending to them isn't selfish; it's sacred work. Whether you're parenting toddlers, teens, or even adult children, there is something to serve you in this episode and it's a great one to share with a friend. Thought-provoking Quotes: “It's always possible for relationships and the brain to change, and they happen hand in hand, so it is never too late.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “What I needed to do was slow everything down and get curious. Get to know this kid, say, ‘tell me a little bit more about what's going on.' Question my own values and the ways I thought it was going to be, all these fantasies that I came in with at the expense of my kid when I thought I was helping.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “Self-awareness is an investment that comes back in dividends and capital gains beyond anything that we can imagine. And it's so much more relaxing to parent this way.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “I can shout from the rooftops that emotions education is important, just like reading and math is important. In high school biology we learn we have a heart, lungs, and pancreas, but emotions affect us far worse. Every single day of our lives.
