God gives the best gifts ever.
What is the absolute best Christmas gift you've ever unwrapped? For me, it was my father's old Bible. The pages are worn and every margin is filled with his notes—it is priceless to me. Gifts connect us. And at Christmas, God gave the greatest gift of all: His Son. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God entered our world as a baby—Jesus—a real Savior who came to offer you the gift of new, eternal life. Will you receive it? If so, you can simply turn to Him and say, “Jesus, I want to know You, and I will follow You. Please forgive me. Thank you for coming, for the work You did on my behalf; giving yourself so that I could have live. I receive Your gift.” Always remember, there is hope with God. radio.hopewithgod.com

Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. What do you think is the best gift ever? Well today, I want to share with you an opportunity we should not miss this holiday season as we prepare gifts for our family and friends—and that is the sharing about the life-changing, wonderful love of God. The Gospel is literally the best news ever! Having a relationship with Jesus brings us joy, peace, and a fulfilling life. So as you pick gifts to give, let me encourage you to add a card. And inside, share a verse, like Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." And then write a note about how God has changed your life. Say, "If you'd like to hear more, I'd love to share with you about how having a relationship with God has impacted my life!" And then end wishing them blessings and love. Let's be intentional over the holidays to give the best gift ever. For more, visit sharelife.today.

Description: If you have ever lost your cool with your kids and then felt the crushing wave of guilt that comes sweeping in after—this episode is for you. This week, Jen and Amy sit down with psychotherapist and emotions educator Hilary Jacobs Hendel, author of ‘It's Not Always Depression' and the new book ‘Parents Have Feelings, Too', to talk about what happens when we stop ignoring our own emotions and start bringing more calm, curiosity, and compassion into our families. Hilary shares her groundbreaking Change Triangle model—a simple but powerful tool that helps us move from anxiety, shame, and reactivity to understanding what's really underneath: our core emotions like anger, sadness, fear, and joy. Together, they unpack: How to break cycles we inherited from our own parents What “open-hearted parenting” looks like in real life How to repair when we've said or done something we regret And why healing our emotions may be the greatest legacy we give our kids It's a conversation full of science, self-compassion, and deep sighs of relief—a reminder that parents have feelings too, and that tending to them isn't selfish; it's sacred work. Whether you're parenting toddlers, teens, or even adult children, there is something to serve you in this episode and it's a great one to share with a friend. Thought-provoking Quotes: “It's always possible for relationships and the brain to change, and they happen hand in hand, so it is never too late.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “What I needed to do was slow everything down and get curious. Get to know this kid, say, ‘tell me a little bit more about what's going on.' Question my own values and the ways I thought it was going to be, all these fantasies that I came in with at the expense of my kid when I thought I was helping.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “Self-awareness is an investment that comes back in dividends and capital gains beyond anything that we can imagine. And it's so much more relaxing to parent this way.” – Hilary Jacobs Hendel “I can shout from the rooftops that emotions education is important, just like reading and math is important. In high school biology we learn we have a heart, lungs, and pancreas, but emotions affect us far worse. Every single day of our lives. You'd think somebody would want to pay attention to teaching us a little bit about them.”– Hilary Jacobs Hendel Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Parents Have Feelings, Too: A Guide to Navigating Your Emotions So You And Your Family Can Thrive by Hilary Jacobs Hendel and Juli Fraga - https://amzn.to/4h3wtlf For The Love Of Reconnecting Episode 03: Making Good Use of Our Emotions: Hilary Jacobs Hendel - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-32/making-good-use-of-our-emotions-hilary-jacobs-hendel/ It's Not Always Depression: Working the Change Triangle to Listen to the Body, Discover Core Emotions, and Connect to Your Authentic Self by Hilary Jacobs Hendel - https://amzn.to/3L3an6f The Change Triangle - https://www.hilaryjacobshendel.com/whats-the-change-triangle Awake: A Memoir by Jen Hatmaker - https://amzn.to/4nCb9pi Simple Habit meditation app - https://www.simplehabit.com/ The Change Triangle YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/thechangetriangle/videos Guest's Links: Website - https://www.hilaryjacobshendel.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/hilaryjacobshendel/ Twitter - https://x.com/HilaryJHendel Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/AuthorHilaryJacobsHendel Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/thechangetriangle/videos Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy. Transformational philanthropy doesn't happen overnight—it's the result of patience, humility, and deep trust built over years. Too often, organizations focus on immediate needs and campaign timelines instead of donors' passions and timeframes. This story highlights how a client took the long view, nurturing a relationship with one of the rare 0.1% capable of extraordinary giving. By personalizing stewardship, showing appreciation, and listening with humility, they created space for generosity to grow naturally into something truly transformative.

In this powerful Lutheran sermon based on Luke 11:1–13, Pastor Balla explores Jesus' teaching on prayer and the Father's greatest gift—the Holy Spirit. In a world where faith often grows cold and prayer becomes rare, Jesus invites us to ask boldly, seek faithfully, and knock persistently. The Holy Spirit is not just a helper in prayer—He is the very breath of faith, the one who keeps us praying, believing, and abiding in Christ. This sermon speaks especially to those feeling spiritually dry, weary in prayer, or struggling to endure in the Christian life. Rooted in the theology of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the Small Catechism, this message proclaims that the Spirit comes through the Word and Sacraments, sustaining us daily. Whether you are a lifelong Lutheran or new to Christian preaching, this Christ-centered sermon offers encouragement and clarity. This episode includes my interview with Finley Joseph about his and his family's experience visiting one of our churches. I also speak a little on spiritual gifts and keeping a record. Here is the talk mentioned in the podcast. Our Strengths Can Become Our Downfall | Dallin H. Oaks Our Strengths Can Become Our Downfall | Dallin H. Oaks Here's a treat…. https://youtu.be/CxzUO_E1N84 Also! This episode made me think so much about Elder Uchtdorf's talk in the last conference, "By This All Will Know That You Are My Disciples."
May 12-18“We must remember that to every man [or woman] is given a gift by the Spirit of God. It is our right and responsibility to accept our gifts and to share them. God's gifts and powers are available to all of us.” (Ashton, Marvin J., There are Many Gifts, General Conference, October 1987) Each of us has at least one spiritual gift. Some people have many, but the Prophet Joseph Smith had them all. We will learn about them in this episode.
Spiritual Gifts Lesson For Kids Some of the Audio in this Episode comes from the Friend Magazine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Doctrine and Covenants Podcast for KidsBook of Mormon Podcast for KidsChurch of Jesus Christ Podcast for KidsHave you guys ever heard of a magical land called Narnia? Two brothers and two sisters found a secret door in the back of a closet that led them to a magical world called Narnia. It's a world with fantastic creatures and mythical beasts! Talking animals, giants, dwarves, dragons, & unicorns abound. In the land of Narnia, the children join a magical lion named Aslan in the fight against the evil white witch. In the story, the Lion Aslan is a representation of symbol for Jesus Christ. The Lion Aslan sacrifices himself to save a young naughty boy. Everyone is so sad. But then Aslan comes back to life. Does that sound like or remind you of Jesus? In the story, Aslan the Lion gives each of the siblings gifts so they can win the fight against evil. The oldest brother Peter receives a sword and a shield, The oldest sister Susan receives a bow and arrows and a horn, And the littlest sister Lucy is given a bottle of healing tonic. A magical medicine. Eventually, as the children use their special gifts from Aslan the Lion, they defeat the evil white witch and the land of Narnia is saved! It's a really neat story! You should read it with your parents and see if you can recognize ways the lion is the same as Jesus! Well one way the Lion Aslan is like Jesus is that Aslan gave each of the children special gifts. Did you know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus have also given each of YOU special gifts? God gives every person spiritual gifts. That means He blesses us with talents through the Holy Ghost! Do you guys know what your spiritual gifts are? Are you listening to this podcast with an adult or someone else right now? If you are, ask them what your spiritual gifts are! Or if you are listening by yourself, you can pray and ask Heavenly Father. If you don't know what your spiritual gifts are, you can pray to Heavenly Father to find out! You can also work on your spiritual gifts to make them stronger! So why do we have different spiritual gifts? Heavenly Father gives us spiritual gifts to bless others!Spiritual gifts are blessings or abilities that are given by the power of the Holy Ghost.
