Rachel McMillen is a comic, producer, and lawyer-in-training from Houston, Texas, who has worked with Bill both in Austin and Houston. Rachel comes by Bill's trailer in Austin to discuss her WILD ride of a life - going from being a model student to a black tar heroin addict to a comic, CEO, and paralegal being involved in some of the most impactful cases in modern-day American. Rachel is a great example of how faith and belief in yourself can literally and figuratively pull yourself out of the gutter. If you have issues with addiction or mental health, Rachel's story should serve as an inspiration to anyone looking to follow their dreams. This is a MUST LISTEN! Aaron and Carlee from the 90s movie podcast Hit Factory join us for a conversation about Oliver Stone's 1994 maximalist murder-fest Natural Born Killers. Is this a masterpiece of postmodern satire, or a mindlessly self-indulgent pastiche? As we discover together, this movie is trickier than its cartoonish surface, painting a disturbing vision of American violence and celebrity that, nearly thirty years later, still burns like acid. Nicole was on her way to work one day on her bike, and was found months later having been stabbed to death in the woods. After a few leads, her case went cold for many years, until her step brother confessed to her murder on Facebook and turned himself into the police so that her remains could once again be tested for DNA. On today's Watchman Newscast, host Erick Stakelbeck breaks down reports that the massive oil spill that has devastated Israel's coastline was an intentional act of environmental terrorism by Iran. New evidence reveals that a vessel left Iran in January and eventually dumped hundreds of tons of crude oil off the coast of Israel before returning to Iran, where it is currently docked. The spill has shut down Israel's Mediterranean beaches, harmed wildlife and caused what some Israeli government officials are calling the worst environmental disaster in Israel's history. Is this a devastating new terror tactic and could it come to a beach near you? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Musí to dovnitř! Domácí Reflektor z Prahy a Znojma. Naším dnešním hostem je hudební kritik a spisovatel Karl Veselý. Probereme aktuální dění a rovnou čtyři nové tuzemské desky. Konkrétně Billy Barman, BLACK TAR JESUS, pokoj25 a Zrní.

Take control... Drugs have been prevalent in my life, I've done every drug in the book except for Black Tar whether it's alcohol . I'm down from 215 pounds. I weighed 165 after quitting using vices. They can severely affect your life when you are caught up in it... If it's an obstacle for you, it can be overcome. These are things you have to understand that life is, is not a short journey and can have many twists and turns.

In the early 2000s, the press–at least in Boston, where I was living at the time–was full of shrill stories about drug-crazed addicts breaking into area pharmacies in search of something called “Oxycontin.” I had no idea what Oxycontin was, but I was pretty sure there must be something remarkable about it if ordinary drug fiends were risking jail time and worse by robbing mom-and-pop drug stores to get it. As Sam Quinones explains in his remarkable book Dreamland: The True Tale of American's Opiate Epidemic (Bloomsbury Press, 2015), the Oxycontin crime wave was an early moment in the emergence of a full-blown Opiate epidemic in the United States. For many young doctors working in “pain management in the 90s and naughts, Oxycontin was remarkable indeed. It gave them just what their predecessors in the eternal fight against pain lacked: a supposedly non-addictive opium-based medication that they could prescribe far and wide without fear of hooking their patients on it. And with all the best intentions, prescribe it far and wide these doctors did. But it wasn't non-addictive at all; masses of patients become dependent. And not only them. Drug-users learned that “Oxy” afforded a wonderful high, and it became highly coveted “on the street.” The rub was that this new “wonder drug” was either hard to get–unless you had access to a “Pill Mill”–and/or very expensive. So Oxycontin addicts got desperate. Some, like the ones the press was screaming about in Boston, stole the drug from the local CVS and the like. Most, however, turned to an old drug that was easier to get and cheaper: Black Tar Heroin from Mexico. In the wake of Oxycontin, Black Tar spread from the Southwest across much of the U.S., even to places like Western Massachusetts, where I live now and the heroin epidemic is in full, tragic swing. Smack, Black Tar, Brown Sugar, Mexican Mud and Scag! What are we talking about you may ask—Heroin, the biggest pandemic in America. Killing hella kids daily—Just in Jefferson County alone we lost 19 kids to overdoses in 9months…In America we might think that our country being in debt is the big problem but closer to home the problem is heroin. This drug has been around for ages and back in the day no one really used heroin because they would need to inject it, but now it’s a whole new ball game. Heroin comes in many forms and kids are getting their hands on it easily. Another problem we now face with heroin being readily available for our kids is that this stuff is cheap! Get a bump for $5, they don’t need to spend $20 a gram on weed now…it’s all about what gets you the best high for cheap and that’s the problem. Parents need to wake up and realize this stuff is powerful and popular and has taken the world by storm. This black tar is right around the corner—no matter where you live. Look at Cory Monteith, he was a successful actor on the hit series Glee, had everything going for him nothing wrong and all of sudden, DEAD. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or how much money you have people. Heroin is right there killing our future because the teens might not be 100% of our population but they’re 100% of our future and we need to start paying attention to what they are doing. It starts out with a little weed smoking casually then gradually it gets to an addiction engulfing their world and they need more so they look to prescription pills and that is where we get the trouble because the dealers have heroin readily available and for cheaper than the prescription pills. How many kids will lose their lives’ before we say enough is enough? In 2011, 4.2 million Americans aged 12 or older (or 1.6 percent) had used heroin at least once in their lives. Heroin is not a joke. Heroin is killing a whole generation and people are so nieve to think is won't happen to their teen or it won't happen to them.
