What's Brewin' in Milwaukee The Milwaukee Brewers surprised a lot of baseball observers last season by winning 93 games -- the third most in the National League. The Brewers could surpass that win total this season if their young players, including 21-year-old sensation Jackson Churio, build off last season's successes. Gery Woelfel, Chuck Freimund and Dan Zielinski cover all the bases in this special Brewers podcast.
Humanise The Numbers - for ambitious accountants in practice
In business, one thing that's absolutely certain is that a client's perception of your firm is connected to their expectation of what you'll deliver to them, for them, with them. In this podcast discussion with the two Richards, Richard Brewin and Richard Bertin, of All In Place, you'll be exposed to some really powerful insights. Yes, in accountancy, you have to deliver compliance services, and most, if not all, of your clients, expect you to do that. But not all of your clients expect you to talk about their business lives in the round, and certainly many of your clients don't expect you to have a conversation about their personal lives. And yet, if you're going to be a deep and meaningful trusted advisor, then you are going to have those business life and personal life conversations. And what the two Richards do brilliantly in this podcast discussion is unpack what you need to consider in a real, practical way, so that the perception of your clients of your firm – of you and your team – is at a much higher level, taking you away from being simply a transactional accountant providing services that could be delivered purely by technology at some point in the very near future. So why not dive into this podcast discussion with the two Richards and unpack how you can improve the expectations your clients have of your firm, as well as how you can influence the way you communicate with your clients so that you deliver higher value. I'm sure you'll find it powerful. Click here to access this podcast and scroll down the podcast's episode page for the contact information for Richard and Richard and for the additional, downloadable resources mentioned in the podcast.
This episode of The Valley Today with host Janet Michael and cohost Niki Foster, President of the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, provided a wealth of information about the Chamber's various committees, upcoming events, and the overall community spirit that drives these initiatives. Janet and Niki delved into the significant impact of the Chamber's Nonprofit Alliance and Senior Alliance committees. These committees have rejuvenated participation and provided platforms for continuous engagement and shared learning among the participants. Niki highlighted the essence of these alliances, stating, "The meetings energize me... It's just this positive source of energy." Interestingly, the Nonprofit Alliance welcomes both Chamber and non-Chamber members, fostering a collaborative environment for all. A remarkable initiative discussed was the Chamber's open approach allowing non-members to benefit from networking opportunities. Janet credited Niki for her foresight in understanding that everyone needs to get together and talk every once in a while. The Business Development Committee was another focal point, detailing how it organizes various programs and workshops such as Coffee and Conversations and business-related events like lunch and learns. Niki emphasized the committee's role in filling educational gaps and supporting local businesses. Niki also revealed the return of two significant events: the Annual Dinner and Awards event, and the Something's Brewin' Beer Festival. The Annual Dinner, a tradition paused due to COVID-19, is set to make a grand return in June, celebrating the community's positive aspects. The Beer Festival, scheduled for September, promises to be a fun community gathering featuring an assortment of beers, ciders, and meads. Business After Hours, a monthly networking event, and its importance were also discussed. It's an opportunity for members to network, showcase their businesses, and for potential members to experience the benefits of Chamber membership for themselves. In the conversation, the Chamber's adaptability was lauded, particularly in its Coffee and Conversations series. These monthly meetings address timely and relevant topics, maintaining flexibility to pivot as needed. Niki encourages community members to suggest topics and areas of interest, emphasizing the Chamber's role in community education. The chamber's committees, from legislative to event-specific planning groups, offer numerous engagement opportunities. Niki advocates for community participation, ensuring there is a committee for everyone's interest and passion. The guys talk about whether or not we'll see 6+" of snow today. Brittney Merlot is excited about it. Still, we're not quite as enthused. Then, it's a Trucker Thursday. Maino tells a story about buying a CB back in the day and hearing "lot lizards" trying to drum up business. Then, the boys debate on what's going on with UWGB Men's Basketball. It's been a rough season. Maino asks the question: If I bought a book for my son and read it before I give it to him, is it considered regifting? A quick poll shows that the majority of our listeners do NOT believe it is a true regifting situation. What do you think? Kyle Jones welcomes Lori Malkin, secretary and founder of the JJ's Legacy Foundation as she invites us to the 8th annual Grillin and Brewin event November 9th. All proceeds from the event go towards the foundation's “got the dot?” program and club. Their program gives students an educational insight on organ, eye and tissue donation and the importance of donating. The program allows the children the opportunity to earn scholarships funded through these events to further their education as advocates for organ, eye, and tissue donation. JJ's Legacy was founded in 2010 a year after founder Lori Malkin's son Jeffrey John died in a automotive accident, when pronounced brain dead the doctors asked Lori if Jeffrey was an organ donor, Lori and her husband decided to donate her son's organs. In doing so Lori learned about how much of an impact her son's donation had in other people's lives. The mission of JJ's Legacy is to honor Jeffrey Johns by educating Kern County residents on the value and importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation, increasing the number of registered donors, and providing compassionate support to donor and recipient families. Dave LaGreca & Thunder Rosa react to the announcement on RAW of Cody Rhodes returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble Match. Dave also throws out his wish for a surprise return and discusses it with Thunder and The Nation. Plus, Independent Wrestler, Actor, and Bloodline family member Afa Jr. joins the show and maybe he has a hint or two about what we will see at RAW XXX or The Royal Rumble.
Tom in for Nick and joined by senior writer at the Racing Post Lee Mottershead. Lee and Tom first look ahead to today's Matheson Hurdle at Leopardstown and ask just how good State man is, or at least needs to be to win today and whether he could be a threat to Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle. We look back at yesterday's action and hear from Conflated's rider Jack Kennedy after his Savills Chase win and from Home By The Lee's trainer Joseph O'Brien after his Christmas Hurdle success. Jospeh also tells us about High Definition's likely next run. It's a busy weekend of racing in the UK and Lee looks ahead to that, whilst we hear from trainer Olly Murphy who will be represented by five runners at Cheltenham including Thunder Rock in the Dipper and Brewin'upastorm in the Relkeel. Plus it's Thursday so we have the latest from Saudi Arabia with Martin Kelly.
