The Atlanta Falcons' offensive identity centers on their potentially dominant running game, and that will be spearheaded by their young duo at running back in rookie Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. Host Aaron Freeman breaks down how he thinks the team will try to split carries between the pair this year, along with Cordarrelle Patterson and quarterback Desmond Ridder. He discusses how Robinson may not hog all the rushing attempts, but should get plenty of opportunities as a pass-catcher this season to offset things. Later, he discusses why the Falcons likely won't be significantly more balanced on offense in 2023 than the were the previous season due to the style and identity that Arthur Smith wants in his offense. He breaks down why the team will continue to lean on the ground attack even if they think Ridder can be a more effective passer than Marcus Mariota, and why the Falcons may be in the vanguard as the NFL rolls back the clock to a time before it was known as a “passing league.” Finally, he discusses the impact of injuries to Avery Williams and Caleb Huntley and why fullback Keith Smith was retained despite the Falcons potentially wanting more of a hybrid H-back/tight end in that role like Parker Hesse. The Atlanta Falcons kick off mandatory minicamp with nearly complete participation from their players with one notable exception: Kyle Pitts. The third-year tight end is still working his way back from a torn MCL suffered last November. Host Aaron Freeman explains why he's not pressed about that Pitts still being out seven months after what is normally a two or three-month injury. He also breaks down the latest in the recoveries of nose tackle Eddie Goldman and running back Caleb Huntley, and why the later may be destined for a “redshirt” year on the PUP list.He also breaks down Ta'Quon Graham's (ACL) triumphant return to practice and what his role will be this year as part of the defensive line rotation. Later, he also breaks down whether Pitts, wide receiver Drake London, or running back Bijan Robinson will be the “alpha” on offense. And also discusses whether or not the Falcons offense or defense has greater potential to be a Top 10 unit this year.Part of the @LockedonATLFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

New Atlanta Falcons defensive end Calais Campbell spoke to the media on Monday, breaking down his vision for the team and why he expects big things from them in the near future. He discusses his role being comparable to Cam Jordan's role with the New Orleans Saints under current Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen and why he chose the Falcons over other suitors. Campbell discussed why he thinks the Falcons are a potential breakout team this year thanks to their young assets on offense and the solid defensive additions made this offseason. Later, host Aaron Freeman answers listener questions from twitter, discussing if Campbell's statements better illuminate the team's 2023 draft plans, what would happen to Cordarrelle Patterson and Caleb HUntley if the Falcons drafted Bijan Robinson (Texas), Kaden Elliss and Mykal Walker's potential roles at linebacker, Desmond Ridder's best and worst-case NFL comparisons, and his zombie apocalypse survival plans. The Atlanta Falcons saw an explosion in production from their running back position in 2022, thanks in large part to the dominant play of rookie RB Tyler Allgeier in the second half of the season. Aaron Freeman breaks down how and why Allgeier showed so much improvement down the stretch and discusses whether he can be expected to carry that over into 2023. Despite solid years from Cordarrelle Patterson, Caleb Huntley, and Avery Williams, he also breaks down why the Falcons could use more speed and depth at the position next season. Finally, he breaks down why the team looks like they're preparing to move on from fullback Keith Smith, and discusses replacement options such as Parker Hesse, John Fitzpatrick, Khari Blasingame, Clint Ratkovich, and Jack Colletto.
The Atlanta Falcons rushed for more than 200 yards in a 23-20 upset victory of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Falcons used a committee of running backs to wear down the Browns depleted defensive front. Cordarrelle Patterson started the game, but running backs Caleb Huntley, Tyler Allgeier and Avery Williams all chipped in to help pull off the victory. The defense closed out the game with a big sack from Grady Jarrett and an interception from cornerback Dee Alford. The Falcons improved to 2-2 on the season with the victory. Garrett Bush of the Locked On Browns Podcast and The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show joines Adam The Bull, Mikey McNuggets, and Jeff Lloyd to gives BROWNS VS FALCONS INSTANT REACTION! After their week of adversity and losing their star defensive player in Myles Garrett after his accident, the Browns lost 23-20 to the Falcons on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to drop to 2-2. The outcome was decided on Jacoby Brissett's interception with 55 seconds left when the Browns were trying to get Cade York in position for the game-tying field goal. The Browns had another blown coverage late in the game when receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught a 43-yard pass from Marcus Mariota. Denzel Ward grabbed Zaccheaus' facemask making the tackle to tack on another 15 yards to the Browns' 33. Younghoe Koo kicked a 45-yard field goal with 2:28 left to put Atlanta up 23-20. Brissett took over at his 25 with no timeouts left and the drive was a disaster. It began with a short pass into the turf and then back-to-back completions of 20 to David Bell and 6 to Donovan Peoples-Jones.Guard Joel Bitonio was flagged for ineligible man downfield to take the Browns out of field goal range. Brissett was sacked by Grady Jarrett on third down and then threw the interception on a pass to Bell. The Browns had plenty of adversity to overcome during the week with star defensive end Myles Garrett flipping his Porsche 911 Turbo S multiple times on Monday and suffering multiple minor injuries, including a sprained shoulder, strained biceps and cut wrist. Garrett didn't practice all week and his status was uncertain. Ultimately, he was ruled out on Saturday and stayed home to rest his wounds. In fact, the Browns headed into the game minus three of their four starting defensive linemen in Garrett (shoulder, biceps), Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) and Taven Bryan (hamstring). They were replaced by rookie Alex Wright, recent practice-squader Isaac Rochell and second-year pro Tommy Togiai. The Browns were also without middle linebacker Anthony Walker Jr., who's out for the season with a torn quadriceps tendon. He was replaced by Jacob Phillips, who wore the green helmet sticker and called the defense signals. The Browns, who were tied 10-10 at the half, went ahead for the first time, 13-10, on a 45-yard Cade York field goal to cash in on Denzel Ward's interception with 6:57 left in the third quarter. The pick followed two straight three-and-outs by the Browns offense. But the Falcons gave the Browns a taste of their own medicine on their next drive. The ran 10 straight times — all with lead back Cordarelle Patterson on the sidelines presumably nursing his sore knee — to take a 17-13 left with 12:51 left on Caleb Huntley's 5-yard TD run. Huntley ran eight times on the drive. But the Browns' running game came alive too, with Kareem Hunt rumbling for 20 yards and then Nick Chubb blasting up the left side for a 28-yard TD to make it 20-17 with 9:51 left. “... I'm always trying to do what's best for the team. There's always opportunities to get better as a player and a coach. ... I'm going to fall back on our process and put our guys in a position to succeed.”NextThe Browns host the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday at 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.#Browns #ClevelandBrowns #AtlantaFalcons #NFLWeek4 #NFL cleveland browns garrett bush cleveland browns Learn more about your ad choices. JJ & Vincent return to talk about where the running back position stands on the Panthers roster and run through the running back class of 2021, from Etienne on down, and what type of skill sets might make sense in Carolina under Matt Rhule. Should the Panthers re-sign Mike Davis? Where does Alex Armah fit into a Joe Brady offense? What is the best way to take advantage of Christian McCaffrey? Is there a wide receiver conversion in the draft that might work perfectly for what the Panthers are trying to do? They'll also discuss what would happen if the Panthers don't go quarterback with the eighth overall pick - does one of the top corners make sense? Plus, Vincent sits down with former Ball State running back Caleb Huntley on how he's prepping for the 2021 NFL Draft, where he thinks his skillset fits into the NFL and whether the way that you run the ball is either innate or if you can change it. Readyforthedraft.com's Gregg Schutze shares his passion for the NFL draft and takes you on a journey leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft. Week 10 of the College Football season is in the books and we saw Clemson go down at the hands of Notre Dame, Florida emerge as an SEC power as well as the start of the Pac-12 and MAC seasons. Gregg takes a look at some of the featured games from Week 10 and focuses on players flying under the radar and Day 3 gems. Liam Eichenberg is on everyone's radar, but he's not getting the hype he deserves, while Teven Jenkins is flying under the radar as an OT worth considering on Day 2 of the draft, while Carson Green continues to impress as a mid-Day 3 option at RT. Rhamondre Stevenson is back from suspension and has changed the whole complexion of the OU offense while Caleb Huntley just might be a late Day 3 or UDFA gem at RB. Defensively, Wyatt Hubert is quietly having a huge year at edge rusher while Bobby Brown III is showing he can generate a push along the interior of the D-line and Ball State's Christian Albright is showing he can get to the passer off the edge, improving his stock as a Day 3 OLB.
