In this conversation, host Dan Hummel discusses with Daniel K. Williams' book The Politics of the Cross: A Christian Alternative to Partisanship and explores the intersection of history, politics, and religion. He shares his background and interest in history, the misconceptions about Christians and politics, and the historical roots of the Democratic and Republican parties. Williams argues that the Democratic Party has deep roots in secularized liberal Protestantism, with a focus on equality and caring for the marginalized. On the other hand, the Republican Party emerged from Protestant moralism, emphasizing frugality, hard work, and opposition to the sexual revolution. He also discusses how these historical perspectives shape the parties today. In this conversation, Dan Hummel and Daniel Williams discuss the relationship between politics and Christianity, particularly within the context of the United States. They explore the historical influence of Protestant moralism on American politics and the role of evangelicals in the Republican Party. They also examine the impact of the Trump era on evangelical politics, noting both continuities and changes. The conversation delves into the division and polarization within churches over political issues, emphasizing the need for Christians to adopt a cross-centered ethic and approach politics with discernment and charity. The book 'Politics of the Cross' is discussed, with a focus on the chapters addressing abortion, same-sex marriage, race, and economics. The conversation concludes with reflections on the current political landscape and advice for Christians navigating the complexities of voting and engaging in politics.----

Gender confused males are dominating women's sports and now the Boy Scouts, once known for their values and deep respect for both God and country, are dropping the word -Boy- from their name, changing it to -Scouting America-.--Since the Scouts have seemingly taken the next step down the slippery slope, is there an alternative-- Yes there is. It's called Trail Life USA. Mark described how it all started in June of 2013 when about 50 people gathered in Louisville, Kentucky. 68 days later an inaugural convention took place at Nashville, Tennessee, where 1,200 people came from 44 states. That's where they announced the name and the general line of the program. 3 months later, on January 1, 2014, the program was officially launched. There are many people of faith that believe the Boy Scouts of America has lost its way. Where once the organization was almost a rite of passage for boys on the way to becoming men, today it is not just about boys or affirming their strengths. Girls are also invited to join, even though there's such an organization called, "Girl Scouts". And the BSA is not about character based on serving God and country, but about individual achievements. Then there's the tragedy of thousands of boys who now claim they were sexually abused by troop leaders or older boys in authority positions, leading to hundreds of millions of dollars paid out to settle those claims. Whatever you think of the BSA, there has arisen an alternative to the 110-year-old organization. It's called Trail Life USA. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Trail Life's CEO Mark Hancock talks about how his organization is growing by leaps and bounds, while BSA's membership is shrinking. Hancock has said that the Boy Scouts of America abandoned its 'laser focus on boys', it's faith-based mission, and it's moral compass. Trail Life has made all three parts of its core principles. It is unapologetically Christ centered in its mission to help boys cultivate their God-given strengths. And they're making it clear that the phrase, 'boys will be boys' means something positive. A new book by Dr Mark Vernon, a psychotherapist and former parish priest, suggests that “something is going wrong with Christianity”. A Secret History of Christianity: Jesus, the Last Inkling, and the evolution of consciousness argues that “standard mystical theology” — the idea “that your life springs from God's life and that this truth is yours to be discovered” — has been lost in the past 500 years. The following is a conversation between Dr Vernon and Jules Evans, policy director at the Centre for the History of Emotions at Queen Mary University University of London and the author of The Art of Losing Control: A philosopher's search for ecstatic experience. A Secret History of Christianity is published by Christian Alternative at £14.99 (CT Bookshop £13.50). For a full list of prayers available through this podcast and our website, please follow this link:  https://psalm71.podbean.com/e/full-list-of-available-prayers-1513057365/ NOTE:  This prayer of renunciation has been recorded ONCE, for listening, agreeing, and repeating.    PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW, CAREFULLY, BEFORE PROCEEDING TO PRAY THIS PRAYER OF RENUNCIATION.    First: We STRONGLY recommended that you listen to the preceding episode, "Why a Christian Alternative to Yoga?", in order to understand more fully what yoga is truly about.  We recommend, furthermore, that you download and read the through free booklet, "Prayers of Renunciation -- Eastern", prior to engaging the renunciation of anything associated with Eastern spiritual involvements.  Second:  This prayer is presented here for personal use in rejecting, renouncing, and repenting for any and all levels of involvement in yoga. For some, this may be a sufficient major step -- maybe even a complete step -- towards deliverance from yoga. However, for others, this may be only the important FIRST step. THERE MAY BE, FOR OTHERS, MORE YET TO BE DONE. It cannot be emphasized enough that involvement in yoga is a very serious matter. Yoga is a powerfully affecting form of spiritual witchcraft and the consequences of yogic practice may range from seemingly trivial effects to major demonic strongholds and influence. The evil spirits which, through yoga, are invited into one's life may range from the comparatively small and weak, to viciously strong and difficult to confront and dislodge. Certain spirits connected to Eastern religious practices have a wide set of influential power, and they are notorious not only for being capable of hiding in areas of the human body, but also in masking themselves as spirits seemingly completely disconnected from yoga. These spirits are able, in many cases, to locate, latch onto, and amplify some of the worst weaknesses and tendencies in individual persons: pride; lust; addiction; laziness; obsession; and so forth. Confronting Eastern spirits may produce a pushback from spirits who still have a right to affect a person because of hidden and/or unconfessed sin.  Therefore, if you are going to pray this prayer, it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY that you set your heart to see the deliverance process through to its end -- AND THAT MAY TAKE TIME TO GET THROUGH. You will need to decide to TRUST in the authority and power of Jesus Christ, NO MATTER WHAT. The step of renouncing and repenting may cause some things to fall away but BRING HIDDEN THINGS TO LIGHT. Shaking up the Kundalini playground, and casting some of these spirits out, for instance, will produce a large power vacuum that must immediately be filled by the Word and Holy Spirit of God. Do not be surprised if you find yourself dealing with spiritual challenges you were never aware of prior to renouncing yoga. DON'T FEAR, but BE READY in Jesus Christ to deal with hidden sin, hidden weaknesses, and hidden demonic strongholds. We already have THE VICTORY in Jesus -- but it may take some real perseverance in striving to walk your deliverance all the way through.  It is not recommended to pray this prayer lightly, casually, or with the foolish presumption that once will be enough. Set your heart upon the Lord and seek His guidance and strength.    This prayer covers:  1. Renouncing each of the eight stages of yogic progress, with their core beliefs and practices 2. Renouncing all essential and associated spiritual dogma and doctrines  3. Confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ, our sole Saviour and Redeemer from sin, death, and hell 4. Submission to the only Righteous God   Author:  Amanda Buys  Text source:  Prayers of Renunciation -- Eastern (p.11-15) "PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE FROM YOGA, REINCARNATION, MEDITATION TECHNIQUES AND BREATHING TECHNIQUES" http://www.kanaanministries.org/downloads/?category=10&sortby=title&dlpage=2

YOGA's explicit role as a hindu "missionary" program 6. what the bible says about yoga and similar arts 7. the institution of yoga into children's school programs 8. the true origins of "christian yoga" 9. what disciples of jesus christ must know and do   Laurette Willis is the developer of PraiseMoves, a Christian stretching program specifically based upon historical scriptural features and elements. The PraiseMoves website provides the following information, and much more, about this truly CHRISTIAN ALTERNATIVE to yoga: "PraiseMoves postures are integrated with corresponding Bible scriptures. For example, during a posture named 'The Altar' we consider the scripture from Romans 12:1: 'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.' "Dr. Steven J. Scafidi, a chiropractor in New Jersey writes, 'I have been experiencing terrific results using PraiseMoves and have been recommending it to my patients. I am thankful to Laurette for a program that combines Christ-centered worship with the physical benefits often attributed to yoga.' "There are several PraiseMoves DVDs, and we are blessed to train people interested in becoming Certified PraiseMoves Instructors, starting their own Fitness Ministry to bring this Christian alternative to churches, gyms, health clubs and recreation centers across the U.S., Canada, in Europe, South Africa and Australia. "Holly Robaina, in article entitled 'Take a Pass on Yoga' on ChristianityToday.com does a marvelous job explaining the dangers of yoga, so-called “Christian yoga” and how PraiseMoves is DEFINITELY DIFFERENT." Our Internet connected devices offer an amazing world of information and connectivity, yet many feel more fragmented and disconnected than ever. Dont blame it all on Google or Facebook rather, a great deal of our angst comes from a more subtle restructuring of human life the virtualization of culture. The church, too, is being virtualized; but it more naturally provides the solution. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author John Dyer about his feature length cultural discernment Viewpoint article in Volume 40 5 called The Virtualization of Culture and the Need for an Embodied Christian Alternative

During my first few weeks at college, I concocted one of those dumb ideas that you get when you suddenly have the freedom of an adult without the wisdom of one.  My new dorm-mates and I would go undercover, as it were, and spend a day as prospective students at the famous Evangelical college down the road, Bob Jones University. Since we’d arrived in Greenville, South Carolina, we’d heard all sorts of rumors about Bob Jones: that you weren’t aloud to go out on a date without a chaperon; that the only place on campus men and women could mingle was a giant gymnasium filled with couches, and that you had to keep a couch cushion between you and the other person sitting next to you, presumably to block the demonic energy radiating from his or her genitals.  And, as if this precaution weren’t enough, this gym was spotted with lifeguard chairs, in which guards kept a wary eye out for the slightest chastity infraction.  We imagined the guards had whistles and Ray-Bands. So we went and, as you can imagine, found nothing much out of the ordinary.  Our tour guides were welcoming, the campus was well-kept, the classrooms and dorms were spacious and inviting, and the student body, far from radiating religious zeal or sexual repression, looked pretty much like the one we’d just left, perhaps a little more friendly.  We didn’t see the mythic gymnasium, and no one ran around with a Bible, beating men and women away from one another.  We were, of course, disappointed. As boneheaded as we were back then, I do think our undercover adventure stems from a curiosity shared by many of us who aren’t a part of the Evangelical church: what’s life really like in that community?  We might have heard about the alternative colleges and preschools, the prayer circles and the mega-churches, but, really, what’s the appeal?  This curiosity is all the more odd given that anywhere from a quarter to over a third of Americans identify themselves as Evangelical, depending on which study you consult.  It seems the Evangelical / non-Evangelical divide is just one of the many that currently mark our much divided country. And now we have Erika Rae‘s new memoir, Devangelical (Emergency Press, 2012).  In it, Rae accomplishes a dual feat.  She gives those of us outside the Evangelical church a first-hand account of growing up within it–of its values and beliefs, of what it’s like to go to youth group or attend the Evangelical alternative to prom.  She even includes a pithy “Guide to Churchese” that gives the Evangelical take on such terms as “Alter Call,” “Christian Alternative,” or “Sexual Immorality” (“If it’s sexual, it’s immoral”).  But more importantly, Rae gives us a coming-of-age story, a story that’s at times hilarious and at times poignant.  Rae captures that struggle we all know and that may be even harder than fending off the demons that lurk in Ouija boards or rock-and-roll music: growing up. Gospel music,Christian Alternative,Christian Black, Christian Hard Core, Christian Rock, Urban Gospel, Black Gospel Music, Country Gospel, Bluegrass Folk Gospel,Progressive Gospel, Praise Worship Gospel. What do all the name Genres/Styles have in common? last week on the 27th our program focus on Gospel music Genres/Styles and why there was so many? The reason All you have to do is make a name for any Genres you like Most come from Music Associations Organizations. Each Music Association has staked it's claim on their Genres/Style of music for Media and Commercialism, We will get to that later on in the show. One of the forces that drives of the different Genres/Styles is human preferences. Some human only like one kind of music Genres/Style other may have several Genres/Styles they like and will listen accordingly. While some are like me and we like all Genres/Styles. Media will take the easy way out we will give everybody what they like. It is easy to have a large mix of Genres/Style music just add country for Country folks, Black for black folks, and so Traditional for Traditional folks. Keep in mind the one thread that runs through all gospel music is God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spiri.

When you say Gospel Music the Genres are as many as you want to name. All you have to do to make a new Genres/Styles is add the word {Christian} or {Gospel} with word you want and you have a New Genres/Style of music. Lets name a few that all ready exist contempur Christian Music, Christian Alternative, christian Black Metal (know as unblack metal) Christian Electronic Music, christian Hardcore, Christian Hip Hop, Christian Industrial, Christian Metal, Christian Punk, Christian Rock, Christian R&B, Traditional Gospel, Urban Gospel, Urban Contemporary Gospel, Black Gospel Music, Southern Gospel music, Progressive Southern gospel, The names can go on and on. Here is a few new one for you, Liberal Gospel, Conservative Gospel, Christian Liberal, Christian Conservative Gospel, Liberal Christian Gospel, Conservative Gospel,. Lets go to the {Extreme for some names} how about Glenn Beck Gospel, or for that matter the name of this show Howcee Productions Gospel, Or Howcee Gospel, The point we are making is that all these names have nothing to do with the True Gospel Music. The word Gospel and christian have be used to add some type of importance to the Genre/Style when in fact it is worthless. Gospel Music or Christian Music has to do with "God (The Father) Jesus (The Son) Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) if the name is something other than this as a Genres/Styles then it is worthless.
