What happens when you stop blaming your spouse and take responsibility for your part? A thriving marriage requires tending like a garden—neglect leads to wilting, while proper care produces abundant fruit. For Day 26 of the Love Dare, Kirk reveals how love is responsible. We first confess our failures to God, then humbly apologize to our spouse regardless of their response. This breakthrough tears down walls of resistance and builds bridges of communication that can transform your marriage and model healthy conflict resolution for your children. The resurrection changes everything, Mama! It's the cornerstone of our faith—the moment that proves Jesus is the one true God. Today, we're talking about the beauty of firsthand accounts, like John's, and how Jesus went the extra mile to strengthen our faith—even centuries later.“Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.” John 20:8 (NKJV)

The newest installment to my colors mix series. With all the mixes I do, I sometimes feel like I hold Rhéa hostage all by herself and she's forced to listen to too many of my live mixing. As a solution, she'd been wanting to invite some close friends over that she could host as I shot an episode and we agreed on a 2000s R&B as the soundtrack to the day. I wanted to tap into some nostalgic songs for us Millennials (a la 106 & Park, Cita's World, MTV Jams etc). S/O to all our friends that pulled up and vibed with us on this episode. Gentlemen, ever wonder what St. Joseph felt when Mary's pregnancy rocked his world? In this Manly Catholic Lenten Reflection, we dive into a rare gem, the Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Jesus of Agreda, distilled by Michael DeMaio. Okayed by the Church, this private revelation paints Joseph as a master craftsman who shunned wealth, a 33-year-old virgin picked by God with a blooming staff, and a man wrestling with doubt yet rising to protect the Holy Family. From grueling journeys to Egypt to Mary tending his frail final years, it's raw, human, and real. Your challenge: re-listen and step into Joseph's shoes. Use Ignatian imaginative prayer; feel his anger, resolve, and trust. How would you react? Be honest. This isn't dogma, but a window into a saint who is flesh and bone just like us. Hit play, grab your coffee, and let's walk Nazareth's dust with him. Keywords: St. Joseph, Catholic men, Mystical City of God, Lent reflection, imaginative prayer, faith, Manly Catholic podcast Products/References: Book: Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Jesus of Agreda Text: City of God Stories by Michael DeMaio Prayer: Terror of Demons, Memorare to St. Joseph Powerful Quotes: “St. Joseph was 33 years old, strong, fit, and handsome... he could have become a very rich man, but instead he gave most of his earnings to the poor.” “If St. Joseph had believed that Mary had any guilt in causing her pregnancy, he would have died of sorrow.” “They had flesh and bones just like us, they had doubts, they had worries, they had hopes and dreams, and it just puts flesh in the game.”Key Takeaway:Today, take 10 minutes to imagine yourself as Joseph—facing Mary's news, trekking to Egypt. Feel it, then ask: how would I respond? Honesty builds grit. Call to Action: Share this episode with a brother, and let us know how this hits you. Even in the midst of Lenten discipline, the Church invites us to pause and glimpse the joy waiting on Easter morning. Laetare Sunday—marked by rose vestments replacing the penitential purple—arrives precisely when many of us have settled into the rhythm of our Lenten commitments but might need encouragement for the journey ahead. This episode explores the profound spiritual wisdom behind this "joy Sunday" that occurs right at Lent's midpoint. Drawing from St. Thomas Aquinas, we examine how true Christian joy flows naturally from growing charity in our hearts. As we've weakened the "old man" in us through three and a half weeks of spiritual discipline, we've simultaneously strengthened our union with God—and that itself becomes a legitimate source of joy. The challenges of modern living receive particular attention as we discuss how today's "argument culture" conditions faithful Catholics toward defensiveness and contention. Social media, news cycles, and even family gatherings have become battlegrounds where we feel constantly compelled to fight for our beliefs. While defending truth remains essential, this episode offers a gentle correction: "We can't fight for everything." Instead, Laetare Sunday calls us to foster joy by focusing on the graces we've received rather than dwelling on negativities.Practical resolutions round out our discussion: making Sundays truly restful, improving our thanksgiving after Communion, avoiding unnecessary arguments, and turning away from what traditional wisdom calls "birds of ill omen"—those constant sources of bad news and apocalyptic predictions that rob us of peace. In our digitally connected age, this might mean logging off Twitter, stepping away from news consumption, and getting outside with loved ones.Ready to reclaim genuine Christian joy amid your Lenten journey? : Darys is a seasoned runner with extensive experience in marathons and long-distance events. Drawing from personal experiences in running, Darys finds inspiration and motivation from faith, integrating spiritual lessons with physical discipline. Not only has Darys run numerous marathons, but their understanding of the synergy between athletic pursuit and spiritual reflection uniquely positions them as an insightful figure in faith-focused communities.Episode Summary:In this inspiring episode of the "Faith with Friends" podcast, guest Darys joins host Lisa Lorenzo to explore profound connections between running, faith, and spiritual growth. Darys reflects on their personal journey in running and how it correlates with spiritual lessons from the Bible, particularly from Psalm 119:32. The conversation extends to explore how challenges and preparations in running reflect similar spiritual disciplines that enhance personal and relational growth with God.As Darys narrates, the transition from walking to running signifies the speed at which we pursue God's commandments. This episode illuminates how life's trials like fear, doubt, and grief, akin to the obstacles one faces in a race, provide opportunities for strengthening faith. The discussion addresses how deliberate preparation and leaning into faith are crucial for personal and spiritual victories, drawing on biblical wisdom to underline the perseverance and resilience required in both life's races and the spiritual journey. As Darys eloquently puts it, "Forward is a pace," encouraging listeners to continually progress in their faith journey irrespective of hurdles.Key Takeaways:Interconnection of Running and Faith: Darys shares how running serves as a powerful metaphor for spiritual growth and obedience to God's commandments.Overcoming Life's Obstacles: The podcast highlights managing fears and doubts as essential in both running and faith, suggesting both as parallel paths to achieving growth.Preparation is Key: Just as in physical training, being spiritually prepared is crucial to overcome future challenges with vigor and determination.Persevering in Faith: Darys emphasizes the importance of pursuing God's path with zeal and fortitude, trusting in the enlarging work God does in their heart through challenges.Divine Intention in Trials: The conversation reassures listeners that obstacles are part of God's intentional design for victory and spiritual deepening.Notable Quotes:"I will run the course of your commandments, for you shall enlarge my heart.""The faster we go, the more we walk, the faster we go, and the more that God enlarges our hearts.""The pain is not wasted; if our training and preparation are intentional, it equips us for whatever lies ahead.""Forward is a pace," encouraging a steady progression through life's challenges."Let us look inside and always look to Jesus, the enlarger of our hearts."
On this Laetare Sunday, Father Jonathan Meyer reminds us of God's immense love and care for us. Reflecting on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, he shares the comforting words of the Father: “You are here with me always. Everything I have is yours.” Take a moment today to realize how deeply loved you are by God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let this Sunday be a day of rest and a reminder that God's grace is always with you.

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. 3. Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, 4. And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. 5. But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. ; AB church Lausanne

Today we wrap up our journey through the Patriarchs as Fr. Mike finishes the book of Genesis and the book of Job. Fr. Mike particularly draws our attention to God's beautiful yet mysterious response to Job's questions. Today's readings are Genesis 49-50, Job 41-42, and Psalm 17. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
Today we further realize the sense of the word “credo,” meaning “I believe.” As we read the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed, we discover the differences between the two and come to understand how the Nicene Creed, which came centuries later, expands upon and explains the beliefs of the Apostles' Creed. Fr. Mike tells us that these Creeds help us to share the essential elements of Catholicism, acting as “symbols of faith,” and encouraging communion between believers. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 185-192. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
