Ecco le notizie più importanti della settimana selezionate da "Ascolta la Notizia". Facciamo il punto sulla pandemia di Covid-19. Questa settimana il numero di contagi di coronavirus registrati nel mondo hanno superato quota 41 milioni. Sono i dati del conteggio della Johns Hopkins University di Washington sui casi individuati in tutto il mondo, aggiornato a venerdì 23 ottobre 2020. Gli Stati Uniti sono sempre il Paese più colpito con quasi 8 milioni e mezzo di contagi. Seguono India, con oltre 7 milioni e mezzo di casi, Brasile e Russia. Concentriamoci ora sull'epidemia di Covid-19 in Italia. Sono 19.143 i nuovi casi di coronavirus registrati tra giovedì e venerdì in Italia. 91 i morti. I tamponi eseguiti sono stati 182.032 tamponi, con un incremento di 11.640 rispetto ai 170.392 della giornata precedente. I pazienti ricoverati in terapia intensiva sono 1049, con un aumento di 57 unità. Lo ha reso noto il ministero della Salute. Il presidente della Regione Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, ha dichiarato che si deve fare «l'ultimo tentativo per bloccare l'esplosione del contagio, quindi dobbiamo chiudere tutto per un mese, per 40 giorni, per frenare l'esplosione del contagio». Il premier Giuseppe Conte, in un videomessaggio per il Festival del Lavoro 2020, ha affermato che condivide «la crescente preoccupazione per l’aumento dei contagi» ma bisogna «scongiurare un secondo lockdown generalizzato». Anche secondo Ranieri Guerra, rappresentante dell'Organizzazione mondiale della sanità nel Comitato tecnico scientifico, bisogna evitare una chiusura generalizzata «perché provocherebbe rivolte armate». «Le persone sono state sfinite dai tre mesi di lockdown», ha sottolineato il professore. Nel frattempo oltre cento scienziati, hanno lanciato un appello al capo dello Stato, Sergio Mattarella, e al premier Giuseppe Conte affinché assumano «provvedimenti stringenti e drastici nei prossimi due o tre giorni per evitare che i numeri di contagi da coronavirus in Italia arrivino inevitabilmente, in assenza di misure correttive efficaci, nelle prossime tre settimane, a produrre alcune centinaia di decessi al giorno». Chiudiamo con la tecnologia. «Notizie di stampa hanno, nei giorni scorsi, riportato il caso di alcune ragazze vittime di un particolare tipo di “deep fake”, cioè video e immagini realizzati attraverso delle app che consentono di trasformare il volto, la voce e il corpo delle persone, creando veri e propri “falsi”. Le ragazze si sono ritrovate, a loro insaputa, “spogliate” su Telegram dopo che alcuni utenti avevano manipolato le loro foto usando un programma informatico - derivato da un software chiamato “DeepNude” - disponibile sul canale social e che impiega l’intelligenza artificiale per ricostruire l’aspetto che avrebbe il corpo sotto gli indumenti». È quanto si legge in una nota diffusa dal Garante della Privacy «Preoccupato per gli effetti prodotti dal software e dalla sua diffusione tra gli utenti del social, il Garante per la protezione dei dati personali - composto da Pasquale Stanzione, Ginevra Cerrina Feroni, Agostino Ghiglia, Guido Scorza - ha deciso di aprire un’istruttoria nei confronti di Telegram, social già oggetto di un’attività di verifica da parte dell’Autorità», ha reso noto il Garante.

Technology whisperer Tatjana Dzambazova on asking the right questions to avoid the waste of talent, connecting and inspiring others, becoming vegetarian, and the myth of a better life. Tatjana is Director of product management, software solutions, at Bright Machines, a software-driven-manufacturing start-up based in San Francisco.  Tatjana's career started as an architect—she practiced over 12 years in Vienna and London. In 2000 she started her 18-year design technology journey with Autodesk, mainly in dual role of product manager for many new, disruptive software solutions, and a global technology speaker. In her two decades working in the digital design industry she was Autodesk's first product manager for Revit and a pioneer evangelist of the BIM Building Information Modeling approach in architecture and construction. During the Maker movement, she was employee number one and helped launch the Autodesk's consumer group, helping create innovative, disruptive digital fabrication and 3D printing solutions (the 123D line of products, such as 123D Make now known as Slicer for Fusion and many others). This group transformed into Pier 9 and led to a new phase 'Design and Make' in Autodesk, and the creation/acquisition of fabrication tools that complement the design tools. She also led the computer vision initiatives and the ReMake & ReCap Photo product. Tatjana was also on the forefront of web story telling through visual programming, leading the Smithsonian 3DExplorer software effort and Project Play and project manager for Dr. Louise Leakey of African Fossils. Before joining Bright Machines, she spent a year at Velo3D as director of product management, UX, and design, leading Flor, the printing preparation and simulation software of the solution, along with scientists and engineers who are pushing the limits of industrial-grade quality metal additive solutions for aerospace, medical, and industrial applications. Tatjana is a technology book author and an energetic, passionate "Technology Whisperer." Continuing technological advances is making it more difficult to keep people safe.The latest in "deep fake" technology is DeepNude - an app that uses AI to transform an image of a clothed woman into a realistic rendering of what she might look like naked.DeepNude surged in popularity after being covered by Vice last week, swamping its anonymous creator's servers. It was soon offline, but not before a claimed half-million downloads.The software's author initially promised it would be back online after a few days, but has now indicated it will be knocked on the head, posting "If 500,000 people use it, the probability that people will misuse it is too high. The world is not yet ready for DeepNude."It is just the latest in a new wave of technology that blurs the lines between fiction and reality, and is making it harder for people to safely navigate the internet.Netsafe CEO Martin Cocker joined Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford to talk about how people can avoid these apps and how parents can keep their children safe.
