In this episode of "Tell Me More," hosts Luke Stehr and Dr. Dennis R. Wiles delve into the intricate weave of spiritual transformation and virtuous living in "Designer Fashion." Drawing from Dr. Wiles' recent sermon, they explore the themes of human flourishing and the transformative power of character and virtue as researched in the Global Flourishing Study. The discussion seamlessly threads through the concept of Inaugurated Eschatology, where they examine how believers live at the intersection of 'This Present Evil Age' and 'The Age to Come.' Drawing inspiration from the Apostle Paul's teachings, they discuss how the transformation of our inner character is an anticipation of a promised future state, encouraging listeners to consider their virtuous living as the ultimate fashion statement. With Colossians 3:1-17 as their guiding text, Dr. Wiles illuminates the idea that God, as the original Fashion Designer, crafts us to outgrow the garments of our earthly nature, prompting a radical renewal. Together, they reflect on the spiritual wardrobe provided in Christ, urging believers to embrace their divine couture, crafted by the greatest designer of all.Tune in for a thought-provoking and heartwarming conversation that not only entertains but inspires personal reflection and growth.

There's a trend I'm seeing a lot on social media lately: the comparison between low-ticket and high-ticket outfits. This trend fascinates me and got me thinking about my own thought process, and buying decisions when it comes to fashion and splurging on designer brands. I recently purchased my first-ever designer outfit, and you better believe me, it was a very LONG and very intentional journey of self-discovery and self-connection before I committed to the purchase. Sure, there is a larger investment when buying designer brands, but it's about way more than that. Many people buy things just for the sake of it, but I'm not one of them. I wanted my first designer purchase to feel light and enjoyable and not influenced by others' opinions. So, that's what we're unpacking in today's episode. We're delving into the perceived value of designer items vs. their affordability and sustainability, the personal attachment to brands, and how they tie into our self-identity. In This Bonus episode Monica Monique and Zeee talk about all the things you should say no to as a fashion designer, seamstress or brand owner. They go through a list way of nice ways and straight forward ways to decline a customer. Zee talks about her struggles with saying no to people and then regretting it later. Monica discusses how saying no to the wrong customer can give you more time for the right customer. They also go through a list of how to say "I charge for that" in nice ways. There are a lot of times where we're are being nice with our time and people take advantage or take it to far, especially if you have a business in that area. In this episode we're shining a light on one of our industry's most exciting events of the year, and that's London Fashion Week. We're kicking the show off by speaking with someone who knows a lot about this subject: Nordstrom Women's Designer Fashion and Editorial Director Rickie De Sole. Rickie then takes the helm and chats with Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, about her role in supporting emerging designers and established fashion houses throughout this massive event. In advance of London Fashion Week, we were super fortunate to talk with esteemed British fashion designers Simone Rocha and Erdem, who had two of the most acclaimed collections from the event. WWD wrote that Simone Rocha's show "cast a romantic spell"; Harper's Bazaar called her collection "extremely covetable." British Vogue lauded Erdem's collection's "historical significance and mind-blowing sense of resourcefulness." We'll be digging into the designers' creative muses and exploring their unique backgrounds to discover how they've earned such revered reputations in the London fashion scene and around the world. London Fashion Week is a very important time for us, and a lot of fun for our teams that get to travel and see some incredible fashion shows. So, we've decided to bring a little bit of that excitement to you through The Nordy Pod! Thanks for tuning in to episode 44. We hope you enjoy it! Did you know that YOU can be on The Nordy Pod? This show isn't just a one-way conversation. We want to hear about what Nordstrom looks like through your eyes. Eliot is a sustainable and 100% Italian brand born from owner and creator Mariachiara Giacomel's vision while breastfeeding her second daughter Tea. After studying, researching and touching many different fabrics, love at first touch came with a bamboo jersey, made by an Italian company, which creates high quality natural fabrics. Pre-Loved Podcast: Deals on Designers Today's show is with two guests, co-founders of Deals on Designers, an online consignment and vintage shop, Mariya and Paige! Mariya had the idea for Deals on Designers while working at a textile recycling non-profit, RewearAble – she loved secondhand fashion and wanted to find more ways for sustainable, secondhand pieces to make their way into people's closets. She teamed up with Paige, a former co-worker from another job, whose own enthusiasm for the fashion industry was fostered when interning at Tom Ford. While Paige enjoyed the ever-changing landscape of the fashion industry, she also saw a need for brands to incorporate sustainable initiatives into their practices. And so, Deals on Designers was born! These two have incredible stories about textile recycling, founding a business together, partnering with vintage collectors, and giving back to good causes.
