Disguised variously as a baseball umpire, NFL referee, pro golfer, and even Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Barry Bremen earned his reputation as America's greatest pitch invader - a career that kicked off on 4th February, 1979. Dressed as a player for the Kansas City Kings, the 32 year-old insurance salesman crashed the court of an NBA All-Star basketball game - much to the delight of fellow players and spectators. Hey, it was the Seventies! In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly ask why top sportsmen of the day were so keen to support him; reveal how the media encouraged his efforts to become a sporting celebrity; and explain why his behaviour pushed the broadcasters of the 1985 Emmys to cut quickly to a puzzled David Hasselhoff… Further Reading: • ‘From Ali Dia to Karl Power: the greatest impostors in sporting history' (The Guardian, 2016): https://www.theguardian.com/sport/shortcuts/2016/oct/18/from-ali-dia-barry-bremen-greatest-fakers-in-sporting-history • 'When Barry Bremen Tried to Infiltrate the Dallas Cowgirls, the Team Found It a Drag' (People, 1980): https://people.com/archive/when-barry-bremen-tried-to-infiltrate-the-dallas-cowgirls-the-team-found-it-a-drag-vol-13-no-2/ • ‘The Great Imposter Barry Bremen' (NBC, 1979): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNjZni1yQ90 Love the show? Create an intentional thought wardrobe with me in the School of Self-Image membership: https://schoolofselfimage.com/join Have you ever slipped into a favorite outfit that doesn't quite fit anymore? Not because it's wrong – it just no longer feels like you. That's exactly what's happening with many of the thoughts you're carrying around. We're so careful about what we put on our bodies. We edit our closets. Remove what's outdated. But in our minds? We're still wearing beliefs we inherited from our past – ideas that have nothing to do with who we're becoming. Here's the truth: You can't step into the next version of your life wearing old thoughts. So today, I'm introducing you to a concept I call a Well-Dressed Mind. Because the most powerful thing you can change? It isn't in your closet. It's what you're wearing on the inside. Here's what we cover: • Why most women are still "wearing" thoughts that no longer fit who they're becoming • The concept of a well-dressed mind: where psychology meets personal style • How outdated, inherited beliefs quietly shape confidence, behavior, and results • Why comfort keeps old thoughts in place, and how cognitive dissonance signals growth • The power of bridge thoughts to evolve your identity without overwhelming yourself • How curating your mental wardrobe helps you step into your future with confidence and ease Did you enjoy this episode? Trump and Republicans are joining Democrats in governing as “aristo-populists.” In today's action-packed show, I analyze Trump's housing plan, desire to cap credit card rates, and spat with Jerome Powell over near-zero interest rates through the prism of aristo-populism vs. free-market populism. Aristo-populism is the antithesis of principled governance in that you are swayed by the monied interests at the top of the food chain of policy, sell political access, and then get swayed by perceived public opinion at the bottom to overcorrect. Whereas free-market populism — being for the people — means driving down the middle without any favorable treatment of any one class or industry. I explain exactly how the housing policy fits into the duplicitous dynamic of the arsonist as the firefighter. Also, Trump continues to endorse only candidates who will support data centers rather than those who will actually fight the elites. On a fog-choked stretch outside Modesto, California, a late-night drive turns into something Mark still struggles to explain years later. Visibility was low, conversation was casual, and nothing felt out of place—until a lone figure appeared at an intersection where no one should have been standing. Dressed in outdated clothing and impossibly still, the man seemed to exist outside of time itself. What happened next wasn't fast. It wasn't dramatic. It was slow enough to register… and impossible enough to leave a mark. There was nowhere for the figure to go. No cover. No shadows deep enough to hide in. Yet in front of three witnesses, the road returned to empty silence. This isn't a story about fear in the moment—it's about the way a single unexplained encounter can permanently change how the world feels afterward. Episode Title: "I Need My Pain" - The Caves of Androzani Review & The Fifth Doctor's Regeneration THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI (March 8-16, 1984) Writer: Robert Holmes (returning!) Director: Graeme Harper (debut - directing from studio floor, not control room) PRODUCTION NOTES: The Fake Title: JNT put "The Doctor's Wife" on the production board deliberately to catch office leaks (ironic foreshadowing of Matt Smith's episode!) Graeme Harper's Innovation: Highly innovative direction with unrestricted camera movement - energetic, personal style directing from the floor instead of control room. Peter Davison said if there had been more directors like Harper and writers like Holmes, he'd have stayed for a fourth season. The Strike: Recording interrupted, cutting two sequences including the Doctor explaining his blown glass bottle collection from different planets (why they're visiting Androzani Minor for sand) Nicola Bryant's Frostbite: Developed mild frostbite on first day filming because her lower legs were bare in actually cold conditions The Dream Casting That Never Was: Sharaz Jek was offered to Tim Curry, David Bowie, and Mick Jagger! Christopher Gable was Harper's first choice, Bowie his second. Only Bowie had a reason for declining (Serious Moonlight tour). STORY BREAKDOWN: The TARDIS lands on Androzani Minor where the Doctor and Peri investigate caves and step in raw Spectrox - the most valuable substance in the universe. They're caught between multiple factions fighting over Spectrox: business magnate Morgus, General Chellak's forces, gun-runner Stotz, and the mysterious masked Sharaz Jek controlling an android army. Both contract Spectrox toxemia - the only cure is bat's milk from the lower caves where a magma beast hunts. THE FACTIONS DEBATE: Jim struggles with the convoluted plot involving approximately four factions. John helps clarify: Morgus controls everything from Androzani Major, supplying guns to Jek through Stotz while also backing the military against Jek. Nobody to root for - they're all "nasty, nasty people." STANDOUT MOMENTS: Peri & The Doctor's Chemistry: Their banter is finally warm and funny! John notes Peri complains differently than Tegan - more innocent, not sharp-edged or world-weary. The Star Trek Connection: The military forces sport Star Trek colors (blue, red, gold) matching departments, and uniform design echoes later TNG/DS9 style! First "Droid" Usage: Doctor Who uses the term "droid" for the first time (George Lucas trademarked it, but the term originated with Mary Wolfe in 1952's "Robots of the World, Arise!") Direction Showing Off: The vid-screen conversations where Morgus walks behind the hologram and creative camera angles - "Someone's really showing off here, but in a good way" Morgus's Aside: John Normington misunderstood stage directions and spoke his inner thoughts directly to camera. Everyone loved it, so they kept it! Could've been the Deadpool of Doctor Who if used throughout. CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Sharaz Jek - A Cut Above: The most twisted, dark villain in Doctor Who history. Could give Davros a run for his money in maniacal madness. Shakespearean dialogue, obsessed with Peri's beauty in deeply cringy ways. The mask reveal? A letdown - "not worthy of the build-up at all." Morgus - Standard Bureaucrat Behaving Badly: Rat bastard who murders the President by pushing him down an empty lift shaft. His defeat is Jim's "moment of joy" - well-deserved! The Magma Beast: As awful as the Myrka from Warriors of the Deep, maybe worse. THE VIOLENCE: Brutal for Doctor Who - no comic book foundation anymore. The gun-runner scuffle was "nasty, nasty, nasty stuff." THE REGENERATION: Most Extensive Ever: The Doctor says "feels different this time" (David Tennant would echo this line in his bi-regeneration). All companion cameos newly filmed: Matthew Waterhouse (Adric) - the Doctor reacts most strongly Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) - had chicken pox! Janet Fielding (Tegan) - "Brave heart, Tegan" Mark Strickson (Turlough) Anthony Ainley (The Master) - "Die, Doctor!" The Psychology: John theorizes the hallucinations represent the Doctor's psyche - companions urging him to live vs. the Master (part of himself) wanting to die. Colin Baker's Entrance: Nervous during setup, but in command once cameras rolled. Dressed in Davison's outfit (as it should be!). Two takes - said "egotistical" in final cut, "egocentric" in first. End credits gave Colin Baker top billing immediately. JIM'S CONFLICTED FEELINGS: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE: Jim admits Colin Baker's brief scene gave him hope: "He's very different from Davison... the polar opposite. He immediately insults Peri and he's large and in charge. I can almost put up with a real jerk if there's just some real agency going on in the character." The Agency Theory: Jim yearns for the days of Enemy of the World when the Doctor had real agency, was right in the middle of everything. He identifies with Pertwee's sarcasm and hopes Baker will deliver. ROBERT HOLMES APPRECIATION: Both hosts wish Holmes had been brought in sooner to establish Davison's character. His dialogue elevates everything - Jek's "I have to live among androids because they do not see like we see." FINAL THOUGHTS: Jim: "I'm somewhat encouraged by that tiny little scene with Colin Baker. It gave me some hope... I can almost put up with a real jerk if there's just some real agency." John: "I think that's fair to say there will be agency." The marshmallow Doctor era ends. The loud, arrogant era begins. One more story to round out Season 21... NEXT TIME: The Twin Dilemma - Colin Baker's full premiere! Jim handles narration for the four-parter. Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber is riding high on his 2025 music comeback, marked by the release of his album Swag, which debuted at number two on the charts and delivered his biggest streaming debut ever, according to Geo TV and MARCA reports from December 13. Fans lit up social media when Bieber shared an Instagram video revisiting the Los Angeles spots—Universal CityWalk and Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley—where he filmed his breakout 2010 hit Baby over a decade ago. Dressed casually, the 31-year-old softly sang the chorus a cappella with a friend beatboxing, a full-circle moment signaling renewed momentum after years sidelined by health issues and the canceled Justice tour, as detailed in those outlets.Just yesterday, on December 16, Bieber and wife Hailey stepped out for a pampering date at Voda Spa in West Hollywood, looking relaxed with their one-year-old son Jack at home, per IMDb and Just Jared. Hailey rocked a black coat over a white crop top and jeans, while Justin opted for a cozy hoodie, sweats, slippers, and camo beanie. No major public appearances or business deals popped in the last few days, though tribute events like Justin Bieber Night in Honolulu on December 12 via SeatGeek and a Candlelight concert in New York on December 18 via Concerts50 keep his name buzzing. Older news, like his 2023 Hipgnosis catalogue sale worth over 200 million dollars per Wikipedia, underscores his enduring value, but nothing fresh there.Speculation swirls online, including unverified YouTube claims of Hailey pushing for baby number two amid team pushback, but thats gossip without reliable backing. Biebers Swag resurgence could redefine his legacy, proving the pop icon, once doubted, is evolving on his terms. Thanks for tuning in, come back next week for more. Australia’s response to the antisemitic massacre over the weekend on Bondi Beach during the first night of Chanukkah is to enact even tougher gun laws. To more on Rob and Michele Reiner’s fatal stabbing at the alleged hands of his son Nick. According to reports, they’d earlier attended a holiday party at the home of Conan O'Brien but the family argued and left early, after Nick Reiner made people feel uncomfortable. The father and son made a film 10 years ago called “Being Charlie,” about substance abuse. Nick is presently being held without bail. Any “Bosch” fans? The Amazon LAPD detective drama, which stars actor Titus Welliver and has concluded its run, is set in Los Angeles and frames the City of Angels as a main character. The Swag Gap? It’s basically the thing where your partner is cooler than you are. The concept was created by a 20-year-old student named Dillon Escourse. Jerry O’Donnell, the actor who played Officer Servidone in “Bosch,” is now training to be a police officer — at age 65. Andy nerds out on old radio segments that exist on YouTube. He just loves that deep voice of God! Can we win $19,000 if we guess the music medley? What does AI mean for the future of humankind? Well, a streamer named IShowSpeed is being sued for assaulting gay robot named Jake the Rizzbot, who moved to Los Angeles and came out. The lawsuit is worth a whopping $1 million. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Some ghost stories begin in abandoned houses or forgotten cemeteries. Beth Darlington's began on an ordinary street, under a single streetlight, on a night filled with thunder. As a child, she wasn't thinking about spirits or hauntings—she was simply playing outside with friends, waiting for the storm to pass. But the moment she looked toward the end of the block, everything changed. A figure stood beneath the glow of the streetlight. Still. Out of place. Dressed in clothing that didn't belong to their world or their time. The children watched, unsure whether they were seeing a stranger, an illusion… or something that had slipped through from somewhere else. What Beth felt next stayed with her for decades: a rush of cold, a sense of being watched, and a sudden understanding that not every encounter can be dismissed or rationalized. Beth revisits that night—the moment innocence met the unexplained. Was the figure a wandering spirit? A residual echo of someone long gone? Or a presence that had chosen to reveal itself only to a group of children who didn't yet know to doubt what they saw? Her experience raises a chilling question: just how thin is the line between our world and theirs? In the seventh installment of the "Becoming the Protégé" series on Power Producers Shoptalk, host David Carothers interviews the first set of coaches for The Protégé Season 3: Zach Mefferd, Founder and CEO of ZipBonds, and Mike Fusco, President of Fusco & Orsini Insurance Services. Dressed in costumes (including sunglasses), the trio discusses their coaching strategies, evaluates the current crop of contestants, and strategizes for the upcoming draft. They also dive into the massive opportunity created by industry consolidation, sharing how independent agents can capitalize on the service gaps left when large brokerages acquire local agencies.   Key Highlights: Coaching Strategies for The Protégé Season 3 Draft Zach Mefferd and Mike Fusco join David to discuss their approach to coaching Season 3. While they keep their specific draft picks close to the vest, they hint at targeting contestants like Sam, Joe, and Jacob, noting Lloyd as a potential "dark horse." They emphasize that their coaching will focus on building both strengths and weaknesses, treating the competition like a sport to maximize producer performance. Why Insurance Mentorship is Critical for Producer Success The group agrees that the real prize of The Protégé isn't just winning, but the "priceless" access to insurance mentorship and industry connections. David highlights the weekly guest mentor calls featuring top industry leaders as an invaluable resource that participants should leverage fully to accelerate their careers, regardless of whether they make it to the end of the competition. Leveraging Insurance Industry Consolidation to Win New Business Mike and David discuss the significant opportunity created by rapid M&A activity and insurance industry consolidation. They note that when large brokerages acquire local agencies, service often suffers ("blood in the water"), creating a prime opening for independent agents to prospect dissatisfied clients who feel neglected by the new ownership. The Strategic Advantage of the Independent Insurance Agency The coaches proudly identify as "minorities" in the industry—independent agency owners who haven't sold out to private equity. They discuss the strategic advantage of remaining independent and local, especially when competing against national firms that often struggle to maintain the personalized service and community ties that made the acquired agencies successful in the first place. Season 3 Roadmap: Timeline and Contestant Development David outlines the timeline for the season, mentioning the upcoming live draft and the start of challenges, likely ramping up after the holidays to respect everyone's family time. He reiterates his commitment to providing candid feedback to help insurance producers grow, treating them like members of his own team.   Connect with: David Carothers LinkedIn Mike Fusco LinkedIn Zach Mefferd LinkedIn Kyle Houck LinkedIn Visit Websites: Power Producer Base Camp Fusco Orsini & Associates Insurance Services ZipBonds Killing Commercial Crushing Content Power Producers Podcast Policytee The Dirty 130 The Extra 2 Minutes

Well Dressed Nashville started in 2019 when Bonnie, a pediatric cancer nurse, saw an opportunity at an influencer closet sale. WD was supposed to be an in-person event, but when COVID hit before the first sale, she moved everything online and it took off. She built the business mostly alone, lost their 30k-follower Instagram in Oct 2022, rebuilt from zero, and had her best year in 2023 before burning out and planning to close. Bonnie had become close with Liz Streisand, a former celebrity journalist who ran a Broadway ticketing company with her husband Eric, a longtime hedge fund manager. After six months of rest, Bonnie texted Liz “Let’s do it,” and on July 4, 2024, Liz and Eric bought half the business. They relaunched WD out of their garage, moved into a warehouse in Jan 2025, and hit their yearly goal by August. In Sept 2025, Eric passed away after a five-year battle with lung cancer. Liz now shares how she and the kids are coping, while Bonnie shares her miraculous adoption story. In Nov, during their anniversary drop, Well Dressed Nashville hit $1 million in sales—a milestone powered by grit, reinvention, and heart.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

HELLO UGLIES — TITANS SEASON 2, EPISODE 7“The Boulet Brothers Horror Picture Show” In this episode, Joe and Laurian dive into Titans Season 2 Episode 7, where the monsters take on the Boulet Brothers' Horror Picture Show musical challenge. A surprise power shift, a messy cauldron, and one very dramatic vaporization set the tone for one of the season's most chaotic weeks yet. Joe and Laurian unpack Eva Destruction's challenge win and the Boulet Brothers granting her the sonic transducer—a curse that empowers her to immediately vaporize a competitor. They discuss why Eva was the clear choice from a production standpoint and how her dramatic reaction was exactly what the show wanted. Laurian argues that Jahäria was the true standout in the musical, with Joe countering that JK surprisingly delivered one of their strongest performances. Both agree Eva was not the obvious winner based on the floor show alone. The duo breaks down Sigourney's series of missteps during the deliberation, from invoking their “pact” with Eva and Abhora to making veiled threats about her fanbase. Laurian points out that emotionally tying herself to Eva was a guaranteed misfire, given Eva's history of cutting loose anyone who leans on her. A deep discussion about how Sigourney's defensiveness spiraled, her tendency to backtrack mid-argument, and why her tone rubbed both contestants and judges the wrong way. Joe and Laurian explore whether the dynamic was sexism, self-sabotage, or both. The group is shocked when Cynthia struts back into the laboratory instead of Blackberry. Joe and Laurian discuss why it was obvious Cynthia would return, why track record conversations don't matter on this show, and why Blackberry's elimination stirred unexpected feelings. The two discuss the contestants' belief that they can “target” their competition, why packs never survive longer than a day, and how Cynthia masterfully redirects conversations to preserve entertaining conflict. Joe notes similarities between this musical and Drag Race's rousicles, especially the shared musical grammar. Both hosts agree the cast as a whole performed strongly—no true flops—and break down why certain roles were harder than others. A detailed commentary on the showdown between Blackberry and Priscilla Chambers. Joe and Laurian deconstruct why both looks veered unnecessarily into masturbation territory, what didn't work, and why Blackberry ultimately prevailed. This section intentionally omitted for Hello Uglies main feed show notes. Fashion critiques appear on Dressed to Kill. Joe and Laurian wrap the episode by reflecting on the illusion of choice created by the sonic transducer twist. They explore how producers maintain control, why this twist worked so well at this point in the season, and why Sigourney's exit landed with such strange energy. They also roast the overused “anticipation…” joke—three times was two times too many.
