Orlando City returned home and once again goals were difficult to come by, which allowed the visitors to score late and take points home with them. The Lions were playing their second straight rivalry match and Atlanta United was ripe for the picking, but Orlando City could only muster one goal from Kyle Smith — getting the PawedCast bump from his appearance last week — and allowed an equalizer in the dying moments of the match. A point is OK but too many of these are feeling like losses. We break down the Lions vs. Atlanta United and give our selections for Man of the Match. We also checked back to see how our predictions went and discussed Smith's MLS honor this week. We switched gears and opened our mailbagbox, making a co-ed team consisting of Orlando City and Pride players, and talked a little music as well. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally, we discussed Orlando City B's 1-0 road win at Inter Miami II (courtesy of another Jack Lynn goal), a big international moment for Alejandro Granados, and more. Here's how No. 348 went down: 0:15 – The hated Atlanta United came to town and stole two points at the end because they're like that. 12:54 – The mailbagbox and a five-star review to add to the pile. 25:00 – OCB took three more points out of DRV PNK Stadium to bring home to Orlando. The Miami Hurricanes are picking up momentum in recruiting for the class of 2024. The Hurricanes have received a verbal commitment from 4-star wide receiver Chance Robinson from St. Thomas Aquinas! He picked Miami over Florida State, Auburn and Penn State. Chance averaged 18.6 yards per catch last year as a junior and caught 13 touchdowns. He is exactly the type of speedy, outside threat Miami needs. Host Alex Donno expects that 5-star WR JoJo Trader from Chaminade-Madonna could be joining the class soon.  Alex offers a full review of the Miami Hurricanes spring football game. He felt the team showed some “juice” at DRV PNK Stadium and was especially impressed by early enrollee edge rusher Rueben Bain, transfer linebacker Francisco Mauigoa, WRs Ray Ray Joseph and Jacolby George, TE Riley Williams and quarterbacks Tyler Van Dyke and Emory Williams. Backup QB Jacurri Brown did not have a great evening but should bounce back. He had an excellent spring overall. Miami's offensive line was not that great either. Is there any cause for concern, or did Miami's DL just really stand out? Donno feels the OL still needs to build more chemistry, but they have the individual pieces to succeed.  You can chat with Donno any time on our new Subtext SMS texting service. Alex hopes that someday DVD will return to Miami for an on-field position.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Miami Hurricanes have worked hard for the past five weeks on the practice field. On Friday night, they'll play their spring game at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. What have been the biggest pros and cons after five weeks of spring football? Host Alex Donno argues that the overall depth and competition levels have improved. The team practices at a military style pace. Unfortunately, certain position groups like defensive tackle and running back have been thin in spring. Quarterbacks Tyler Van Dyke, Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams have all done well to this point.  Donno lays down what he expects fans will see in the spring game. Expect to see playmakers from the edge like Nyjalik Kelly, Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain. Hopefully we will see wide receivers making plays. With an improved offensive line, they should have more time to run routes and create separation. The execution needs to follow. While running back Mark Fletcher and cornerback Damari Brown have not arrived yet, Alex expects both of them to be difference makers on the field in the fall.  You can chat with Donno any time on our new Subtext SMS texting service. Nick also looks at the Herons from Miami and how he expects them to play aggressively against a struggling Chicago side. Also, the betting odds are against the away team earning a result. Be optimistic, Fire fans, but don't be surprised with another loss. How do you think the Fire will fare this weekend? Were any Barca fans convinced to come back to Lockhart to support Miami? Inter Miami also travelled to New York and lost yet again 2-0. Campana injury meant Higuain unfortunately started. Pozuelo was largely invisible, why? Is Yankee Stadium the worst pitch in the league? The Miami Hurricanes wrapped up spring 2022 with a solid outing at their spring game on Saturday April 16th at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Head coach Mario Cristobal noted his appreciation afterwards for his team's physicality and hopes they can make it sustainable. The offensive line looked sharp and opened things up for running backs Henry Parrish, Thad Franklin and walk-on Devon Perry to have solid performances. On the defense, true freshman Cyrus Moss and transfer Jacob Lichteinstein looked powerful and disruptive. Host Alex Donno notes the various improvements he saw in Miami's physicality in all phases of the game and how Cristobal's superb coaching staff can continue that development. We also saw improved coverage from defensive backs like DJ Ivey, Te'Cory Couch, Avantae Williams, James Williams and Isaiah Dunson. Donno also wonders how high of a standard new coaches like linebackers coach Charlie Strong, DB's coach Jahmile Addae and defensive analyst Jason Taylor can create. Donno dives into the unofficial stats for the quarterbacks and running backs from the spring game. Tyler Van Dyke led the offense with authority and made plenty of plays despite notable drops from some of his top wide receivers. The running backs performed well despite Jaylen Knighton and Don Chainey both missing the game due to injury. Can Miami take this momentum from spring to fall and continue to raise the level of their football culture? Donno also takes a look at the wild saga of transfer portal OL Amarius Mims who sees his recruitment experience come full circle. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! They were among a handful of performers who really stood out on the day. The offensive line looked more physical than last season and the defense took good tackling angles overall. Donno went over the biggest negative on the day: the lack of execution from the wide receivers. Can they get in synch with their quarterbacks by the start of the 2022 season?
