Regenerative Farming: Healing the Land One Bite at a Time Guest Joel Salatin, Owner, Polyface Farm What if consumers could gradually move away from purchasing energy-intensive industrial food and go back to buying whole foods farmed with earth-friendly methods? Every such purchase would help those people heal themselves and heal the land, rebuild healthy soil, clear the air and purify the water. Many people are under the misconception that cattle contribute to increases in greenhouse gases. Guest Joel Salatin tells the real story. With a room full of debate trophies, 16 published books and a thriving multi-generational family farm, Salatin can clearly explain how to manage cattle, so that they can solve some of today's most pressing ecological concerns. He is world-renowned for using livestock to rebuild the land and soil. He applies chemical free farming methods and shows how animal husbandry is one of the answers to a greener, cleaner, healthier world for all. Salatin is also a delightful storyteller, who characterizes himself as a Christian libertarian environmentalist capitalist lunatic farmer. Many describe him as the most famous farmer in the world, the high priest of the pasture and the most eclectic thinker from Virginia since Thomas Jefferson. He draws on a lifetime of food, farming and fantasy to entertain and inspire audiences around the world. Salatin devotes one segment of this episode to talking about Beyond Labels, which he co-authored with Dr. Sina McCollough. who has a Ph.D. in Nutrition and actually understands unpronounceable carbon chains, Beyond Labels is an informative and entertaining book that leads readers on a journey from generally unhealthy food and farming to an ultimately healing place. Farm and Forest Schooling for Kids Guest Kelly McNiff, Founder, Farm and Forest Education Center at Pat's Pastured Our food purchasing choices impact both our physical health and environmental sustainability. We can empower children and families by teaching how real food is produced. Fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and chickens that are regeneratively grown by local farms are far more nutritious and more sustainable than highly-processed food products shipped thousands of miles to distant markets. The Farm and Forest Education Center at Pat's Pastured is a local non-profit that helps students explore how good food is grown, giving them the opportunity to observe and care for farm animals and their surrounding environment. Pat's Pastured is a local Rhode Island Farm with more than 150 acres of green pasture and woodlots. Humanely-raised livestock moves through rotational pastures with plenty of space to roam free. In 2016, Kelly McNiff, who co-runs the farm with her husband, began running a summer camp in partnership with her sister, Stacy Gale. Kelly is a certified elementary teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and pursued her graduate studies at the Teton Science School in Wyoming, where she discovered her passion for place-based learning and outdoor education. Kelly brought her fourth grade students from Providence to experience hands-on learning at the farm, and she talks about her observations and the tremendous benefits to her students. The Farm and Forest Education Center now offers afterschool programs and facilitates school field trip experiences. Join us for this episode to hear more. Natural Intelligence Guest Cory Edmund Endrulat, Teacher of Natural Law, Integrative Health Coach and Author Humans invent synthetic technologies with the intention of solving problems and making life easier, yet there are many instances where these so-called advances have ended up creating more problems and complicating life. Pesticides, plastic packaging and processed foods are all prime examples of inventions that have fostered tremendous environmental and health challenges. Do these matters indicate that humans have lost touch with their natural intelligence - that innate ability to coexist in natural balance with all other life forms on earth? Guest Cory Endrulat, author of Natural Intelligence: The Technology of Peace joins us to talk about the natural intelligence of permaculture and voluntaryism as solutions to many of our modern world problems. Permaculture is a form of agriculture that mimics a natural ecosystem, in which each species contributes to the natural process of growing food - channeling rainwater, fixing nitrogen into the soil, helping the soil retain water, creating or decomposing compost and so on. Nature nourishes itself. Voluntaryism is the doctrine that relations among people are cooperative, accomplished with mutual consent. Voluntaryists are advocates of nonpolitical, non-violent strategies to achieve a free and smoothly functioning society. Cory helps us explore the natural and philosophical parallels between permaculture and voluntarism. He is a Teacher of Natural Law, an Integrative Health Coach, a practitioner of permaculture and a video content creator. His content covers health, education, freedom, morality, philosophy and taking action, and this work connects his mission and his message: "Nature Is The Answer," to inform us of a movement created for anyone to use in sharing timeless and universal knowledge. Too Many Deer Guest Professor Bernd Blossey, Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Cornell University Across northeast America, overwhelming numbers of native white tail deer, with their voracious and indiscriminate appetites, are reducing forest biodiversity and preventing healthy forest regeneration. While farms and orchards must build high fences to protect their crops, how can we defend and restore our private and municipal properties and the rest of our vulnerable landscape? Environmental scientists, like Professor Bernd Blossey, are working toward solutions. Blossey works in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at Cornell University. Born and raised in northern Germany, Blossey graduated from Kiel University with degrees in ecology, entomology and limnology. His main focus areas are assessments of how invasive plants, earthworms and deer impact native organisms, which include plants, amphibians, birds and insects. Blossey directs Cornell's College of Agricultural and Life Science's Ecology and Management of Invasive Plants Program and chairs the Cornell Deer Management Committee. His overall objective is to increase the conservation values of all lands through development of best management practices. This particular episode will help listeners see their landscape with new eyes. Coastal Learning and Stewardship Guest Maureen Dewire, Education Coordinator, Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Numerous animal species rely on salt marshes for nesting and breeding. Most of the fish and shellfish eaten in the United States, including herring, crabs and oysters, complete at least part of their life cycles in salt marsh estuaries. Over time, coastal development, introduction of invasive species, over-fishing, dams and climate change have led to a decline in the health of estuaries. The Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, is one of 30 National Estuarine Research Reserves located around the country, established to provide long-term protection of coastal lands so they can serve as platforms for research, education and recreation. The Reserve's education sector strives to cultivate awareness, knowledge, and appreciation for Narragansett Bay's natural resources through a variety of place-based experiences for all ages. Education Coordinator Maureen Dewire shares stories about the Reserve's education programs and describes how she collaborates with others to teach about local research, impacts of climate change and land stewardship. Dewire grew up in Stonington, CT and made her way to North Carolina where she attended UNC-Wilmington, receiving her Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology and a Master's degree in Environmental Studies. She worked for a non-profit, Bald Head Island Conservancy, as the Director of Education and Senior Naturalist for 8 years where she was lucky enough to spend her days surveying beaches, kayaking through tidal creeks, and hiking in the maritime forest while delivering programs on sea turtles, alligators, birds and coastal ecosystems. For Our Children: Warrior Parenting Guest Janet Demeter, Founder of Jack's Angels Foundation and Host of Childhood Cancer Talk Radio Fifty percent of children in the U.S. have chronic health issues, and among these, cancer is the leading cause of death among children by disease. Underlying this diseased state of our children are environmental toxins, which enter a body and accumulate over time to create metabolic deficiencies and imbalances. Such toxins exist in our air, water, soil and food. Parents are stepping up to identify these problems, raise awareness and advocate for systemic change. They are doing so in many different capacities; some are focusing on prevention and others are searching for therapies that are better than “standard of care” - less toxic, safer and more effective. In this episode, Janet Demeter shares her son's brain cancer story and the leadership role she took on within the childhood cancer community after losing Jack in 2012. Janet has learned a lot about cancer research, the shortcomings of the pediatric cancer care system and government policy, as well as what we need to do to be more effective. Janet is the founder of Jack's Angels Foundation, host of Childhood Cancer Talk Radio and a lead advocate for pediatric cancer awareness. She one of many parents who have been creating greater visibility and encouraging a higher level of funding for research into cures for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and pediatric cancers in general. Janet leads the effort to pass a resolution designating the 17th day in May as ‘‘DIPG Awareness Day,'' which cites DIPG as the most compelling example of pediatric cancer. This September 2024 interview coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, CureFest 2024, a new book release, DIPG: Eternal Hope Versus Terminal Corruption, and the heightened focus on children's chronic health trends happening in national politics. Local Seafood Year-round: Eating with the Seasons Guests Molly Moran-Ogren, Jordyn Kastlunger and Alexander Esterly, RI Seafood Marketing Collaborative By purchasing and eating local seafood, we help sustain regional fisheries and local fishing businesses. The Seafood Marketing Collaborative (SMC) is actively engaged in a host of programs and activities aimed at fostering increased awareness of, interest in and demand for local seafood products. In addition to developing and trademarking the RI Seafood logo, the Collaborative has launched a robust website, which serves as the focal point for the marketing campaign. The RI Seafood Brand is at the heart of the local food scene in the Ocean State. It guarantees seafood is fresh and landed in right here in Rhode Island, and it supports the local economy and local traditions. Consumers can find RI Seafood products in grocery stores and restaurants and at festivals and farmers' markets during every season. Molly Moran-Ogren, SMC Chair, was born in Juneau, Alaska, and is a fourth-generation commercial fisherman. Understanding that commercial fishing is a livelihood dependent on the resource, and wanting to keep her family's legacy alive, Molly shifted her career from fishing to advocating for all parts of the seafood industry. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada, a Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law, and a Master's Degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. As the appointed Chair of the SMC, Molly oversees the day-to-day programmatic initiatives, budget, grant proposals, collaborative coordination and meetings, and more. Jordyn Kastlunger, SMC Marketing Specialist, manages the social media pages of RI Seafood, publishes the newsletter, and works closely with local fishermen for features. She comes from a third-generation fishing family in San Diego and grew up working as a deckhand for her father and assisting in the direct sales of their catch to the community. Jordyn graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in Communications and a minor in Sustainability. She has attended a variety of conferences and meetings both on a national and international level speaking about the importance and success of commercial fishing and sustainable seafood sources. Alex Esterly, RI Seafood's Marketing Intern focuses on community engagement by representing the collaborative at local seafood festivals and farmers' markets. His love for all things seafood comes from the time he spent fishing as a child on the Jersey Shore with his grandpa. Alex is originally from Pennsylvania and made his way to the Ocean State to attend the University of Rhode Island where he received his bachelor's degrees in Environmental Economics and Marine Affairs, and his master's degree in Environmental Economics. Living in Today's World and Longevity Guest Michael (Mikey) Peres, Entrepreneur, Software Engineer, Journalist By embracing a natural lifestyle, we can improve our own health outcomes, our quality of life, our longevity and our success. This is exemplified by a Blue Zone setting, an environment so natural, clean and simple that a remarkably large percent of its population lives to 100 years or older, in good health. Most of our lives are hardly Blue Zone simple, however, because most of us live in large complex societies within a rapidly evolving technologically-driven world. Michael (Mikey) Peres. integrates skills as a software engineer, author and media personality to show us how to live our best lives. He is known for founding various tech, media, and news startups. He holds degrees in computer science, mathematics, and Jewish studies, and is now pursuing a degree in bio-medical engineering, with a keen interest in longevity. This episode covers a lot of ground as we explore longevity and quality of life. Symbiotic Schoolyard: Learning Ecosystem Restoration Guest Janneke Peterson, Founder of Symbiotic Schoolyard As a middle school science teacher, Janneke Peterson sought to involve her students in place-based, real-world projects, but there was a problem. She was unable to find a high-quality place-based ecosystem unit that provided all the materials and met the high expectations of Next Generation Science Standards. This prompted her to establish the Symbiotic Schoolyard, develop the Schoolyard Habitat Restoration Unit, and package it for use by other science teachers. Janneke now supports science teachers in planting pollinator gardens, or other kinds of native planting projects, in their schoolyard as a part of a high-quality, 8-week ecosystem curriculum. The curriculum guides students in taking on the role of restoration ecologists to answer a driving question: How can we increase the biodiversity of our schoolyard? Through hands-on lessons both in the classroom and the schoolyard, students figure out that native plant communities form the foundation of complex food webs. They come up with a plan for planting native plants in an area of their schoolyard that has low or no biodiversity, such as grass turf, pavement, or an area covered by invasive species. Then they implement the planting project in partnership with a community partner. Tania Marien, Podcaster and Founder of Talaterra The mission of Talaterra is to change the field of freelance environmental education to make it a sustainable career choice. By fostering an understanding of how freelance educators work in their communities, Talaterra is able to bring attention to the depth, breadth and knowledge of those working in this capacity. Talaterra Founder Tania Marien is a podcast host and environmental correspondent. Her projects draw on her experiences working as an independent environmental education professional, first as the full-time editor, educator, and bookseller at ArtPlantae and now as a podcast producer, writer, researcher, and network builder. Her current project explores how freelance environmental professionals contribute to environmental literacy. She believes that independent professionals are overlooked and that their professionalism and contributions to lifelong learning need to be recognized. Documenting their work is important because it fills the knowledge gap about how people learn about science and the environment outside of the classroom. Tania is also a contributor to The Carbon Almanac. Spinning our Life Experiences into Compelling Stories Guest Diane Wyzga, Story Guide, Consultant and Founder of Quarter Moon Story Arts Young and old, we all enjoy listening to good stories. Children, in particular, love listening to parents and teachers tell stories about life experiences that influenced their lives. Guest Diane Wyzga, Story Guide, Consultant and Founder of Quarter Moon Story Arts, helps us answer this question. From US Navy nurse to lawyer, from speaker to litigation consultant, from seasoned backpacking adventurer to storyteller, it's all about falling down 7 and getting up 8. Thrive Outside Guest Shannon Rozea, Founder, Thrive Outside Today's kids are our future, however, denying them access to outdoor experiences deprives them of the learning needed to become better stewards of the planet. And, the fact is, many children are lacking opportunities to thrive outside, because many lack access to safe, beautiful, natural spaces. The Center for American progress recently reported that 70 percent of low-income communities across the country are located in nature-deprived areas. Beyond this, school days are planned to the minute, with little time for spontaneity. Recess periods have been cut short, and time outside for hands-on learning have come to be viewed as a luxury most teachers think they can ill afford. Ironically, research findings are showing that this nature-depravity is proving very costly to a child's natural process of healthy growth and development - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Guest Shannon Rozea (pronoounced Rosé) is an Environmental Educator and the Founding Director of Thrive Outside. She is also a Landscape Architect and a mother of five, dedicated to passing on a legacy of love and respect for our earth. Her organization helps schools provide their students with greater access to nature through hands-on outdoor learning and nature play. Shannon does this by designing and implementing dynamic "Outdoor Learning Zones" and supporting these zones with teacher professional development in outdoor learning. Getting kids back outside and back into nature requires some extremely creative outside-the-box thinking. Shannon and I share our stories, ideas, guidance and resources to help make this happen. What is Bioethics? Rachael McIntosh, Founder of the Foundation for Bioethics in Technology Have you ever wondered about the environmental health implications of today's rapidly-evolving technologies? The Foundation for Bioethics in Technology (Bioethics.tech) is at the forefront of safeguarding Earth's natural biosphere while preserving humanity in the face of the ongoing Synthetic Biology Revolution. Committed to integrating ethics and consent into the intersection of technology and organic life, the foundation strives to enhance public awareness of potentially transformative technologies. By translating complex scientific information into accessible language, bioethics.tech facilitates open conversations and bridges the gap between academia and the public. Founder Rachael McIntosh has a background in art and technology and over 15 years of experience leading conversations on the ethical implications of technological advancements. Having previously worked in the defense industry and contributed to the Rhode Island Geoengineering Study Commission, she spoke to the question “What is Geoengineering?” on the August 2020 episode of Story Walking. Inspired by her work and life experiences, she authored the thought-provoking series of novels, "Security Through Absurdity," which gives us a window into this obscure world and a glimpse of her own fictionalized story walk. Rapidly deployed technological advances have the potential to both help and hinder humanity. In this episode, we discuss bioethics in technology, as well as how and why corporations and governments overstep the boundaries of safety and human rights. And we highlight the importance of understanding how these technologies work and of taking countermeasures to avoid or lessen adverse ramifications that can threaten our health, our environment, our privacy and our freedom. Hope and the Power of Agency Pamela Patalano, Holistic & Spiritual Practitioner, Environmental Activist and Community Organizer The power of agency is “the ability to take action and responsibility for the changes we need to take place for the survival of humanity and this earth.” It can mean making positive changes to one's own personal habits and attitudes in order to recover one's health. It can mean organizing a community of activists to restore the health of a river. And, at a much higher level, it can mean advocating against federal legislation that favors industrial growth at the expense of human rights and environmental health. Today's daunting challenges can be discouraging, and this episode begins with a story about asserting the power of faith, asking for help and stepping into the power of agency. Guest Pam Patalano speaks about the power of agency from multiple perspectives. She is a holistic and spiritual practitioner, an environmental activist, a community organizer, podcaster, realtor and mother of five children. Pam has always had a calling to help people and to be part of healing this world, in which we must harmoniously co-exist to create a better earth for all of us. She has been involved in many community endeavors to help preserve forests, the rights of others and food security. She has made a concerted effort to educate and help people mitigate the toxicity in their communities, our country and our world, and she engages politically, working with law makers to create "sane" legislation. Natural Abundance, Gratitude and Healing Maria Kelly, Founder and Executive Director, AMOR Healing Kitchen Making wise food choices influences our health, how we feel and how we care for our planet. With gratitude we acknowledge that the simplest of foods require few resources to produce, and they are considered among the healthiest and most abundant - fruits, vegetables, whole-grains and plant-based proteins. Macrobiotic cooking is about drawing inspiration for food preparation from our natural environment, using seasonally-fresh, locally-grown, plant-based whole foods. When we add herbs, spices and a lot of love, we can create meals with complex levels of mouth watering flavor and effective healing power. Imagine, food as medicine! This episode features AMOR Healing Kitchen, a small non-profit that provides nutritious, plant-based meals, made with love, by teen volunteers, for people facing health challenges - cancer, heart problems, diabetes, autoimmune diseases or neurological conditions. The kitchen sources in-season ingredients from local farms in the Charleston, SC, area, using organic ingredients as much as possible. Every week Teen Chefs and Kitchen Mentors prepare delicious, healthy meals, and each Friday Delivery Angels bring the meals to the kitchen's clients. AMOR Healing Kitchen empowers teens by teaching them the connection between our food and our health, as well as giving them the tools necessary to carry this knowledge into the kitchen to create nourishing meals. Maria Kelly, Founder and Executive Director, AMOR Healing Kitchen planted the seed of her organization after a 14-year career teaching high school in Charleston County, where there is an abundance of local, organic farms. Her love for plant-based food, local farming, working with teenagers and supporting people challenged with serious illness forms the foundation of AMOR. Environmentally-Safe Technology – Part 3 Guest Cecelia Doucette, Director of Massachusetts for Safe Technology, Education Services Director for Wireless Education Invisible and unseen, electromagnetic frequency (EMF) radiation is increasingly impacting environmental sustainability, human health and safety. EMF emitters include cell towers, cell phones, portable tablets, smart meters, and wearables, like fitbits and ear pods. Few people realize how much the growing wireless technology sector contributes to carbon emissions, climate change and chronic health issues. The high energy requirements of wireless translate into high carbon emissions. One report states that “one click on Google uses about 11-watt hours of energy – the same amount it takes to run a compact fluorescent light bulb for an hour.” This episode leads deeper into all these aspects of wireless technology. The good news is that there are many ways people can rewire their premises and rethink their technology use in order to reduce climate impact, health risks and illness - at home, at school and in the workplace. In Parts 1 and 2, guest Cecelia Doucette, Director of Massachusetts for Safe Technology, introduced the topics of safe technology, wireless education, community action, coalition building and the need for well-informed legal and legislative policies. Doucette returns in Part 3 to deliver more. Doucette's organization is building coalitions of citizens who act as advocates on a town-by-town basis to educate their neighbors and work proactively with local governments, legislators and state agencies for safe, sustainable technology. Massachusetts has led the nation for several years with bills to address the health, environmental and economic impact of today's wireless technology. Doucette helped her children's schools become the first in the nation to take precautionary measures with wireless technology. She is also the Education Services Director with the international non-profit Wireless Education, which offers affordable 30-minute on-line technology safety training for Schools & Families and Corporate Safety Induction. Unseen and unknown, EMF radiation is the invisible E-lephant in the room that can be made visible with an RF meter, as demonstrated in Wendy's Story Walking Journal photoblog Eco-DEtechTIVE Climate Report: E-LEPHANT in the Room. Love Nature Magic Guest Maria Rodale, Author, LOVE NATURE MAGIC     In her new book, Love Nature Magic: shamanic journeys into the heart of my garden, Maria Rodale shows how she came into relationship with the plants, animals and insects that inhabit her garden and helps readers come to understand nature's consciousness, intelligence and high awareness. When people slow down, release control and start paying close attention to Nature, the magic starts to happen. This episode begins with the story of a magical experience with an intelligent and resilient butterfly, and then it leads into a conversation with Maria Rodale. Bestselling author, activist and gardener Maria Rodale is a board member and former co-chair of the Rodale Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to growing the regenerative organic agriculture movement through research, farmer training and education. She is also the former CEO of Rodale Inc., the global health and wellness media company that has published many notable books and periodicals, including Organic Gardening, Men's Health, Women's Health and Prevention magazines. Under the pen name of Mrs. Peanuckle, Rodale has written a delightful series of board books that celebrate the joy nature brings to young children. Each “Alphabet” book presents a different category of nature: birds, bugs, flowers, trees, fresh fruits, vegetables and more. From A to Z, the bold colorful pages will engage parents, enchant toddlers and inspire the youngest of budding environmentalists and curious scientists. Throughout her life, Maria has advocated for the potential of organic regenerative farming to heal the damage wrought by pesticides and industrial agricultural practices and their toxic impacts on human and planetary health, including reversing climate change. The underlying theme of Maria's work is this: If we stop interfering and allow Nature to do her thing, ultimately, she will heal herself and us. How to Design and Build Yourself a Food Forest Guest Graham Towerton, Design Team Leader, Food Forest Abundance A well-designed permaculture food forest incorporates multiple layers of edible plants, including fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, rhizomes, mushrooms, and perennial vegetables. This episode focuses on the food forest design, planning and installation process. Food forest designs are fully customized to each client's climate, planting zone, topography and space, as well as to the client's functionality, culinary and aesthetic desires. With 34 years experience as a chemical engineer and over 40 years of gardening and small farm experience, in Australia and the US, Graham Towerton recently retired to become a full-time permaculture designer and installer. For Towerton, a full-time permaculture consultancy was a logical second career; he is practical, knowledgeable and passionate about food forest gardening. He obtained his certification as a Permaculture Design Consultant from Geoff Lawton's Discover Permaculture school in October, 2021, and then he joined Food Forest Abundance as a designer in January, 2022. Having completed over 30 designs individually and a dozen more as collaborations, Towerton is now one of two global design team leaders for Food Forest Abundance. He provides sage advice as he leads listeners through the steps of the entire process. Lawns into Meadows: Rebuilding Biodiversity Guest Owen Wormser, Landscape Designer, Abound Design Imagine planting native wildflowers in pots on a terrace or transforming a section of your high-maintenance lifeless lawn into a low maintenance meadow habitat, rich with biodiversity.  Recent satellite photographs show that lawns now occupy 45.6 million acres, about three times the size of New Jersey, making the American lawn the largest irrigated crop in the U.S. in terms of surface area.  Perfectly manicured grass lawns were marketed as an essential feature of the American dream in the 1940's and 50's. Today, lawn maintenance demands evermore precious resources - time, money and water. Lawns require labor, expensive motorized equipment and fuel consumption.  They also involve toxic treatment applications – synthetic fertilizers, weed killers and insecticides – that poison life. In this episode landscape designer Owen Wormser explains how to replace the deadscape we call lawn with beautiful, low-maintenance meadows, that sequester far more carbon than a lawn.   Owen is the author of Lawn into Meadows: Growing a regenerative landscape, an award-winning book published by Chelsea Green.  Owen received a degree in landscape architecture in 1998 before founding his own landscape business, Abound Design.   He offers consulting, installation and sustainable landscape design services inspired by permaculture and deep ecology.  His work serves as a means for sharing his deep connection with nature, while further cultivating that connection within himself.   He actively practices the skills and perspectives necessary to effectively weave people and the natural world back together. Agrohomeopathy for Healthier Farms and Gardens Guest Kristina White, Co-founder and Homeopathic Educator, Our Life and Land Agrohomeopathy applies the natural remedies and protocols of homeopathy to improve the health and vitality of pets, livestock, wildlife and plants.  Many of the founders and teachers of homeopathic medicine were trained physicians well-versed in biblical scripture, where ancient healing wisdom was derived from time-honored experience with natural substances.   Remedies stimulate the natural healing responses of live biological organisms.  An entertaining and revelatory story walk, guided by biblical verse, sets the stage for our discussion of life, land, health and agrohomeopathy. Special guest Kristina White is a Homeopathic Educator and Co-founder at Your Life and Land in Rochester, MA.   In Kris's own words, “Agrohomeopathy is an inexpensive, chemical free, non-toxic method of healing and protecting plants and agricultural resources from pests and disease.”  She articulates the principles of homeopathy and Hering's Law.  This leads to a practical discussion on individualized treatment for people, animals and plants, which Kris explains through stories and examples drawn from her own practice. Kris is a best-selling coauthor of Wealth Codes: Sacred Strategies for Abundance. Through her work in natural health, agriculture and over 25+ years as a consultant and educator, Kris's ongoing goal is to educate people on the benefits of eating real food, the importance of natural health options in the home and the need for each of us to educate ourselves and trust our own abilities and intuition. Backyard Farming for Self-Sufficiency Guest Michael Mandeville, Farmer, KNMFARMS Backyard farming practices can help solve today's challenges of food insecurity, food price inflation and pollution caused by factory farming and industrial food production. More people are considering raising their own egg-laying chickens, growing their own produce and/or learning how to preserve fruits or vegetables procured from local farmers. This episode's story walk uncovers clues that draw attention to the harms caused by industrial farming and food production, before delving into a rich conversation with a self-sufficient farmer, who has been working to create abundance on his own property. Nature-lover, friend and farmer, Michael Mandeville, and his wife have established KNMFARMS - that's Kristine and Michael Farms - in Seneca, South Carolina. In addition to holding down full-time corporate jobs, they manage chickens, turkeys and fish ponds and produce their own vegetables. They also grow bananas, peanuts, shitake mushrooms and grain for their animals. They use old-fashioned tried-and-true methods to preserve their harvest as pickles, fermented vegetables, soups, sauces and whole meals. Celebrating Our Oneness with All of Creation Guests Barbara M. Fuyat, RScP, Spiritual Director of CSL South Coastal, MA Teaching Chapter, and Kristina White, CCH, Co-founder of Your Life and Land, Homeopathic Educator Across the globe, Centers for Spiritual Living are uplifting humanity through the teachings of Science of Mind, a philosophy developed by CSL founder Ernest Holmes. He studied the world's many religions and identified commonalities. One of the commonalities is the concept that our thoughts create our reality. Holmes correlated his findings to establish a unifying set of new thought principles that are scientifically provable in practice. The CSL community embraces people of all faiths and beliefs, which is a beautiful thing. An emphasis on unconditional love allows everyone to be free to be whoever they are, while also understanding that all are connected in Oneness.  CSL is rooted in the Transcendentalist movement led by Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, who both emphasized the idea of human harmony with nature. They believed that nature can improve us spiritually and help us connect to the rest of the world. Barbara Fuyat, RScP, is the Spiritual Director of the CSL South Coastal, MA Teaching Chapter. Her social and spiritual activism is strengthened by her Belief that changing the world begins by changing ourselves and living our principles and values. She has held leadership positions with Concordia CSL and CSL of Greater Boston, which have helped her grow in her commitment to Oneness, Wholeness and creating a world that works for everyone. Barbara leads ceremonies and services at local beaches, parks and farms; without walls or borders, honoring nature as our spiritual temple. She also leads online classes and a weekly “Circle of Intention,” that is open to one and all. Kristina White, CCH, is a Homeopathic Educator and co-founder of Your Life and Land, an online community formed around the belief that our connection to each other and nature (real food, trees, plants, animals) is critical to our physical, emotional and spiritual health. Kris is a best-selling coauthor of Wealth Codes: Sacred Strategies for Abundance. She offers workshops, learning circles, and individual homeopathic assessments for people, pets, and plants. She is knowledgeable in “Agrohomeopathy,” a natural method of healing and protecting plants and agricultural resources from pests and disease. Soil Science and Bionutrition Guest Dan Kittredge, Founder and Executive Director, Bionutrient Food Association Did you know that some carrots can have up to 200 times more nutritional value compared to other carrots? The health of food correlates directly to the health of the soil where the food are grown. This episode begins by exploring the biological systems that produce some of the best soil for growing food. Then it delves into innovative Growing Partner and Citizen Science programs that seek to improve the nutrition density in our food supply. The Bionutrient Institute has engineered and released a hand-held consumer spectrometer, the Bionutrient Meter, used to test nutrient density at the point of purchase and bring transparency to the marketplace. The goal of this program is to empower consumers to choose their foods based on nutrient quality and to leverage economic incentives to drive full system regeneration. Our guest, Dan Kittredge, is the Founder and Executive Director of the Bionutrient Food Association (BFA). His organization focuses on understanding the nutrient density in food, how to support it, and how to incorporate it into the food supply chain. Dan has been an organic farmer for over 30 years. Through global engagement, he has become one of the leading proponents of “nutrient density,” working to demonstrate the connections between soil health, plant health, and human health through workshops, speaking engagements, social media, a YouTube channel and numerous webinars and podcasts. We get a recap from Jian on his travels to Japan and learn how the universe bent toward Jon's favor by wildly inconveniencing Jian. Jon and Jeremy talk about how they both went to New York, but not at the same time, and how Catholic schools have the hardest names. We kind of chat about Fashion Week, and a few brands that have caught our eyes lately, Jon shows off some new pants, we learn about an upcoming archive sale Jian has in the works, and some anime shows Jeremy should check out. Jeremy also discloses an absolute treasure mine of Loro Piana gear, and then he waits way too long to send the link in the group chat. We find out Drake's is surprisingly cheaper in the UK and we close the episode by boring the shit out of Jian.**Follow the fellas on IGJian DeLeonJon MoyJeremy Kirkland**Listen to the entire episode on the Blamo! Yo, yo! What's up good people of planet earth!? We got another RARE conversation episode, and this one is super fresh. Before Cookbook started Felipes Garage with Murs and the newest iteration with King, E. Green, Adonis, and Nesto, and the short lived reintroduction of the reformed Really Tho!?! podcast, he had a show called Stereo-Types—named after the first Cook & Uno album. Well this was an episode where Cook invited Jamey (aka Chunjay, aka Mr. Royal Ruckus) to talk about cussing in hip-hop songs. They discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of the "clean version" of a song. Cook and Jamey share stories about growing up and navigating being young Hip-Hop heads, trying to listen to their music in Christian households, and how they maintained their love for the art and did what they had to do to listen to those raps! Tune in and turn it up! While we love the idea of The Joy Unbound being so joyous, we feel like Nilah has maybe a little too much going on. Can we please focus on the endless joy thing? Because that's horrifying. Fiddlesticks worthy horrifying. Bring me more please. Also please ignore our baby hiccups/sneezes. She didn't want to sleep for this one. ----------- Twitter! twitter.com/loreheads Discord! https://t.co/o21E0W4C8z?amp=1 Twitch! twitch.tv/loreheads Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/leagueofloreheads Song Title | Nilah, the Joy UnboundArtist | League of LegendsCourtesy of Riot Games https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/community/riot-music-creator-safe-guidelines/Image by Yuri_B from Pixabay - book with sparkles
