What is your relationship with MONEY? Or is it something that you try not to think about? Just cross your fingers and hope it's there? How do you talk to yourself about money? Do you avoid debt at all costs, even when it means letting opportunities pass you by? Or is it a weight that feels ever-present? An embarrassment that feels you with shame and regret? Money is a quintessential piece of the design process. Even if you are the scrappy, DIY type- you still need money to make things happen. My guest, Jessica Marie, has an empowering approach to the conversation about money. She is a financial empowerment coach. She has spent her adult life re-writing her own personal money story and there is a lot to learn from her narrative! Her "Don't Back Down" attitude yields a wellspring of wisdom despite her humble beginnings. Jessica Marie has experienced much adversity during her lifetime and has overcome many difficult challenges. She considers herself a work in progress, but also, part of the solution. Jessica is a twice-divorced mother of 3, a survivor of domestic violence, and a recovering alcoholic. For decades, Jessica would not back down. When facing trauma, she picked herself up and moved forward. Lessons were learned, and a few years ago when she found herself deep in debt, she discovered the answer to financial empowerment and developed a program to help others in the same situation. Today Jessica is an author, entrepreneur, and financial empowerment coach whose passion is to inspire others with the message that they too, can thrive during tough times and to never give up! In this episode we cover: Why words matter How to unpack our false beliefs that become self-fulfilling prophecies How to think about money in a new way What debt really is Why it is important to spend "in alignment" How to evaluate your relationship with your money How to teach your children to develop their own financial empowerment What steps to start creating a money story of abundance For the full show notes and to take advantage of the generous freebies that Jessica Marie has offered to the listeners of the In Her Eyes Podcast, go to: www.inhereyespodcast.com/episode29

Insider Entrepreneur Secret… …No entrepreneur, no matter if they are a multi-millionaire or a billionaire, know WTF they are doing when they start something new. When you look at people's success, it can be hard for our minds to process that this successful business owner feels the same as you many times a month…but I am one of those people, and I'm telling you it's true. The great news, knowing what you are doing 100% of the time isn't a requirement for building a wildly profitable business. Here IS what's required: > Tenacity, determination, and resourcefulness to make your business a success. You are willing to always find a way. > A proven market need for your products or services. This is number one reason for business failure at 42% (CBInsights) > An eagerness to invest back into your business, to set it up for consistent growth. Making BIG money also costs money…don't play cheap with your dreams. > Humility and a heaping dose of patience. There is nothing that will bring out all of your childhood wounds, insecurities, and self-doubt like entrepreneurship will. Be open to always learn, no matter how successful you get, and ask for damn help!!! We can't do this alone. Around 8/9 years ago I discovered podcasts, and found one that hooked me in and helped me so much that I knew one day I would start my own show (The Women Wanting More Podcast). Well…the full circle day has come my friends, I brought on the Host of the Women Wanting More podcast , Dr. Karen Osburn to talk about doing things before we are ready. Meet Dr. Karen Osburn: She is a former practicing chiropractor, mommy and “unschooler” to two young sons. Dr. Karen made a recent career change into network marketing with a ground floor health and wellness company, to help mothers take their financial power back. She's passionate about guiding women who are leaving toxic and narcissistic relationships, and show them how to best protect and provide for their children. You can connect with Dr. Karen Osburn on: Instagram: @dr._karen_osburn Website: http://shop.myqsciences.com/drkarenosburn Women Wanting More Podcast: Listen Here Email: drkarenosburn@gmail.com Welcome to ProjectME the Podcast with your host Tiffany Carter, who takes the mystery out of making BIG money? Hello! Money is intimately linked to our physical and mental health. It was one of the main reasons why I started my blog, The Female Money Doctor. It's also why I'm now a Financial Empowerment Coach for Women (as well as an NHS GP!). I am on a mission to help as many women as possible with money stress, and help them feel in control of their finances. In my doctor role, I regularly come across patients who get into financial difficulty, and are so stressed by it that they become anxious and depressed. Or they become unwell, and then get into financial problems, further adding to their health burden. Financial instability is a big reason why people cannot take time off of work. It's why they often can't get the help they need and get back to full health quickly. Sleepless nights, poor eating habits, and poor coping strategies with drug and alcohol use all perpetuate and contribute to the problem. As we continue our Thoughtful Money Series, today’s episode focuses on the dreadful “d-word” we all know and despise: Debt. Debt is that familiar friend that finds its way into our finances. Some of us blatantly hide our debt from family and friends, while others secretly stash shopping bags and bank statements to avoid money conversations entirely. Regardless, we all tend to not disclose the full truth surrounding our debt and fail to notice when lack of discipline turns on us in our finances. Our guest this week is here to help us move past the disorganization and confusion that is our current financial state and help us put the PERSONAL back into personal finances. She understands that a financial plan isn't one size fits all, and believes that we all have the ability to live our OWN version of a Rich Life. Melody Wright is a trained Ph.D. scientist that left the bench behind to become a Financial Empowerment Coach, Certified Financial Education Instructor, Speaker, and personal finance Author. While she's always had a passion for science, she has an even bigger passion for helping people create a better life through financial education and traded in her safety goggles and pipettes for debt repayment calculators and spreadsheets. When faced with $212K of debt that didn't include their mortgage, she used the analytical skills learned from her time in science to develop a framework that helped her family pay off over $100,000 in debt in less than three years. Now she's living her version of a Rich Life and through bold conversations, coaching, and the creation of strategic money management systems, she has helped thousands of people stop being Aimlessly Broke™ and transform their mindset, behaviors, and practices related to money. Melody has been featured on the Rachael Ray Show, named a new money expert by Glamour Magazine, and has appeared on Grow -CNBC and several podcasts. Being Broke On Purpose Takeaways “If I’m going to be broke, I want it to be on my own terms. - Melody Wright “Aimlessly broke means that you are broke for no reason, but when you’re broke on purpose, you’re broke, but the reason why you’re broke is because you have a plan and a purpose behind how you’re going to spend your money.” - Melody Wright “Sometimes people will want your results, but not necessarily want the sacrifice.” - Patrice Washington “You can’t look at someone and compare your journey to theirs.” - Melody Wright “Be thoughtful about one goal that you can really attach yourself to and focus on it.” - Melody Wright “Being aimlessly broke means you have a lack of goals or vision for your finances.” - Melody Wright “By working hard in the beginning, we give ourselves an option to slow down later.” - Melody Wright “Even paying off debt can be a form of chasing money.” - Patrice Washington “I believe in investing in the things that bring me joy, but I have to learn how to do it in moderation.” - Patrice Washington “You have to live a life with balance.” - Melody Wright “Recognize the things that bring you joy and create that balance in your life.” - Melody Wright “I will do what God asks me to do because I realize what reward looks like when I am obedient.” - Melody Wright “Everything is aligned for a reason.” - Melody Wright No matter who you are and what you’ve achieved, many of us only feel as good as the last thing we’ve achieved.” - Patrice Washington “We have the capacity to do so much if we just have the knowledge and apply what we learn to our finances.” - Melody Wright Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions And with that, let’s dig into Melody’s responses to our Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions.
