hat meaA Facebook post about drinking water leads to a felony arrest. The charge gets dropped. Now the police department is facing a state-ordered shutdown. What went wrong, and does “I was following orders” explain any of it?On this episode of Two Cops One Donut, Erik Lavigne breaks down the Trinidad, Texas controversy and debates what officers should understand before putting someone in handcuffs. Knowing the elements of an offense matters. So does having the backbone to question a bad order. Then we turn to Philadelphia, where an officer's encounter with a man lying in the roadway raises difficult questions about intervention, personal freedom, and responsibility. What should happen when someone needs help but might refuse it?The live chat also gets into qualified immunity, whether the arrest process can become its own punishment, and what meaningful accountability should look like. ⭐Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) - When "Just Following Orders" Fails (Plot Synopsis) ⭐
The massacre at My Lai was one of the most lethal attacks on civilians carried out by American troops in Vietnam. For more than a year, the Army's official line held firm: it was an encounter with the enemy. Only when a soldier wrote dozens of letters, and a reporter refused to let the story die, did the truth reach the public. This episode explores the events of that day and the long road to accountability.

Prepare for injustice. The criminal city of Tybee Island GA is locking down the cars of tax paying citizens. Paxton gets a boot on his car, Kelly is feeling the heat of a dictatorship. Don't visit Tybee, even if you're a local you're not welcome. Dr. Pepper shots are delicious, but this is an injustice that has happened to Paxton. In this message, we explore what it means to follow Jesus' orders. When the disciples obeyed His command to cast their net on the right side, they experienced unexpected provision. Jesus then invited them to share their blessing, dine with Him in fellowship, and commissioned Peter to feed His sheep. This powerful passage reminds us that obedience leads to blessing, purpose, and deeper intimacy with God. No matter where you are, His call remains the same: “Follow Me.”
In March 1939, James Murphy, a Cork man, became a wanted figure in Nazi Germany. As Europe hurtled towards war, Murphy published an unedited English translation of Hitler's notorious book, Mein Kampf, which revealed Hitler's long-held intentions to invade Eastern Europe. However, Murphy's story is complicated. Often presented as an opponent of the Nazis, he had also, for a time, worked in the Third Reich. The full story behind the translation is intriguing. It reveals how Murphy was manipulated by a secret anti-Nazi group known as the Red Orchestra. It also explores why Murphy, who was aware of many of the darker aspects of the Nazi regime, did not draw attention to them.Sound: Kate DunleaAdditional Narrations: Aidan CroweSupport the show and get an ad-free version of the episode at Patreon.com/irishpodcast.Selected Sources: Maume P. After WWII, a lot of people tried to make excuses for their war crimes by saying they were "just following orders." Is horrific behavior okay if you were doing what you are told? Or do you have a responsibility to do the right thing no matter what the consequences might be?
After California governor Gavin Newsom returned from China, several counties from Sonoma to Santa Clara have enacted mask mandates again, lasting through March of 2024, in order to curb the spread of C19, RSV, and the flu. This comes on the heels of a new CDC guideline for hospitals and health care facilities to force all providers to wear masks during routine care, especially for all respiratory patients. Across the ocean, the UK ‘Covid-inquiry' is proving to be beneficial for both undermining the public's faith in government and demonstrating how the word ‘science' was used to manipulate that same public. From the US-NIH to UK-NHS, white papers show that psychologists employed behavioral modification techniques, propaganda, overwhelming random data, and the like to convince people that a cold was a world stopping disease. In 2022 the Atlantic ran the headline ‘Let's Declare a Pandemic Amnesty', and on the one year anniversary of its publication, Scott Galloway, an NYU professor, went on television and said the same thing. In fact, the argument made by these two sources is equivalent to ‘I was only following orders'.This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

The orders come from the criminals housed in the United Nations...

In this episode of the Remnant Underground, Michael Matt comments on the good news that NFL football star, Damar Hamlin, has resumed consciousness. So now is it okay to ask a few questions? The Bishop of La Crosse, Wisconsin shuts down the most thriving community in his diocese. Why? Because the pope told him to, and he’s just “following orders.†But haven’t we heard that excuse before? Meanwhile, the personal secretary of Pope Benedict XVI confirms that Pope Francis’s Davos-pleasing crackdown on faithful Catholics “broke Pope Benedict’s heart.†Given that many bishops had no problem ignoring Pope Benedict’s motu proprio Summorum Pontificum – which freed the Latin Mass – why couldn’t a good bishop today just ignore Francis’s motu proprio Traditionis Custodes – which seeks to cancel it? Finally, yet another scandal rocks the Vatican, and the pope gets caught honoring a disgraced Jesuit priest credibly accused of having sexually abused several religious sisters. Once again, Michael calls on good bishops to open their eyes to what’s really going on here: If you want to build a New World Order you’ve got to crush the old one first. With the help of Francis the Globalist, that’s exactly what’s happening. The question is: Will the bishops do anything to stop it?  Whether you’re Catholic or not, what’s happening inside the Vatican right now will impact your world for years to come. Will no one try to stop Pope Francis’s Great Reset of Christianity? Cardassian war crimes and The Man in the Glass Booth For many fans of Deep Space Nine, the penultimate installment of Season 1, “Duet,” is also the show's first classic episode. A bleak exploration of guilt, responsibility, and forgiveness in the aftermath of war, it's a story that could scarcely have been told on any other Star Trek series. One of Trek's most popular bottle episodes, “Duet” is built on intense two-hander scenes between Nana Visitor and guest star Harris Yuelin, giving it the air of an intimate theater production. It's perhaps no surprise, then, that the episode's central conceit—a case of mistaken identity at the center of a potential war crimes trial—is lifted from a stage play, Robert Shaw's The Man in the Glass Booth, which was later adapted into an Oscar-winning movie. In this episode of Primitive Culture, host Duncan Barrett is joined by Clara Cook to discuss the parallels between “Duet” and this enigmatic source material, which in turn borrows from the real-life trial of Adolf Eichmann, the original man in a (bullet-proof) glass booth. Broadening the conversation to include Star Trek's approach to war crimes more generally, we consider whether the Eichmann trial—as well as the Nuremberg trials immediately after the war—offer a valid precedent for Federation and Bajoran justice. Our story starts in Argentina in 1960. A middle-age man is on his way home. As he gets off the bus, hooded men grab him and shuffle him into a van. The man is Adolf Eichmann and the hooded men are Israeli intelligence officers. They smuggle him to Israel to stand trial for his role in the Holocaust. As a prominent Nazi in Hitler's Third Reich, Eichmann organised the deportations of millions of Jewish people to death camps. He gets the chilling nickname “The Architect of the Holocaust”. The trial was broadcast globally and onlookers watched on in horror and disbelief as the crimes of a seemingly normal man were lay bare. On this episode of Bad People, Dr. Julia Shaw and comedian Sofie Hagen dissect Eichmann's morally dubious defence that he was “just following orders” and was acting within Nazi law. And they unpick the controversial research that led scientists to question whether all humans are capable of great harm under the right circumstances. This episode includes audio from the short series of educational films, The Eichmann Show, created for the BBCWarning: This episode contains strong language and descriptions of violenceCREDITS Presenters: Dr Julia Shaw and Sofie Hagen Producer: Louisa Field Assistant Producer: Simona Rata Music: Matt Chandler Editor: Rami Tzabar Academic Consultants for The Open University: Lara Frumkin and James Munro Commissioning Assistant Producer: Adam Eland Commissioning Executive: Dylan HaskinsBad People is produced in partnership with The Open University and is a BBC Audio Science Production for BBC Sounds.#BadPeople_BBC
