The incoming President of the United States is not well, and he loves to prove that point over and over again. This week, Donald Trump went on an insane rant about how much he hates windmills, but this time instead of linking them to cancer or blaming them for bird deaths, he decided to immediately call for all of them to be ripped down. This is such a weird thing for him to obsess over and it makes absolutely no sense to anyone. Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly attacked the LA Fire Department in an absolutely bigoted rant this week, blaming them for being obsessed with "DEI" to the point where they have "obese lesbians" trying to rescue people from the flames. Republicans like Kelly are using any excuse possible to attack diversity in this country, and they believe that the fires are a perfect chance to demonize people that aren't like them, even though the stats don't back it up. Social media users were left scratching their heads this week after Trump adviser Jason Miller accidentally suggested that Kash Patel wants to get freaky with Democrats in the Senate. Miller was trying to say that Democrats better not try to beat up on Patel during his confirmation hearing like they have Trump's other nominees because, as Miller put it, Patel would then take them to "Pound Town." He was apparently oblivious of the innuendo associated with that phrase.During a House hearing this week, Marjorie Taylor Greene issued a threat against any government worker that attempts to "resist" Trump's orders when he takes office. Greene said that these people will be brought to "heel," a term associated with the training of dogs. That's how she views these government workers and she places absolutely no value on the jobs that they perform to help keep this country running. Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth was on Capitol Hill Wednesday to meet with senators, trying to salvage his nomination to be the next defense secretary. His nomination is hanging by a thread amid a drip, drip, drip of sordid details about his very messy personal life. But if Hegseth does manage to win Senate confirmation, he'd oversee the largest U.S. government agency with a nearly $900 billion budget. Paul McLeary, Pentagon and national security reporter for Politico, breaks down the job of the defense secretary and how Hegseth fits into President-elect Trump's larger vision for national security. There's a lot of hand-wringing about where Democrats went wrong and why they lost the White House. And a big part of that conversation is how the party lost the support of many working-class voters while Trump gained ground. Max Alvarez, Editor-in-Chief of The Real News Network, talks about the shift among the voting bloc. And in headlines: The Supreme Court appeared poised to side with Tennessee over its law banning gender-affirming care for transgender minors, Trump moves to have his Georgia election interference case dismissed, and Senators grilled airline executives over excessive fees.Show Notes:Check out Max's reporting – https://tinyurl.com/muja9fhzSubscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

On Oct. 27, Donald Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden unfolded as a troubling showcase of racism, misogyny, and anger, just nine days before Election Day. The event opened with a comedian referring to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage,” mocking Hispanics, and using a racial stereotype about watermelon to insult a Black man in the audience. Other speakers attacked Vice President Kamala Harris, describing her as having “pimp handlers” and calling her “the Antichrist.” Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson added to the rhetoric by mocking Harris' diverse background. By the time Trump took the stage, what was advertised as a final rally had devolved into a spectacle of grievances and racial animosity. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson took a prominent spot in the political spotlight at a rally for Donald Trump, held on a Wednesday night. His appearance was not only significant due to his celebrity within conservative media circles, but also because of the charged message he delivered.Carlson, known for his sharp commentary and conservative viewpoints during his tenure at Fox News, chose a particularly dark metaphor as he warmed up the crowd for the former president. His speech included a stark criticism of the current vice president, although the specifics of his metaphor were not detailed in the information provided. The choice of Tucker Carlson to speak at Trump's rally is indicative of the deep ties between the former president and key media figures on the right. Carlson's presence on the stage, rallying support for Trump, suggests an ongoing partnership between the two prominent figures, working together to galvanize their base ahead of future political ambitions. The use of "dark metaphors" by Carlson at such a public event underscores the tone of the political messaging emanating from this corner of American politics. The rhetoric, aimed at critiquing and opposing the current administration, reflects a strategy of mobilization that relies heavily on emotional engagement and vivid imagery. The implications of Carlson's speech, particularly his critique of the vice president, point to a continued strategy of direct opposition and personal attacks against political adversaries. This approach has been a hallmark of the political discourse surrounding Trump and his allies, aiming to stir up support among their base by highlighting perceived flaws and missteps by their opponents. As the political landscape gears up for future elections, the involvement of figures like Tucker Carlson in political rallies signals an intensified effort to reach voters through influential media personalities. The blend of media and politics, as showcased by Carlson's appearance at Trump's rally, illustrates the evolving strategies employed by political figures to engage and mobilize their supporters. The event, and Carlson's participation in it, will likely be analyzed for its impact on Trump's political standing and its broader implications for the political discourse in the United States. The dark metaphors and charged rhetoric used by Carlson at the rally reflect the heightened tensions and deep divisions that continue to characterize the American political environment.
