What's the secret to Olivia Rodrigo's perfect, shiny locks? Two words: Clayton Hawkins. The incredibly talented (and absolutely hilarious) hairstylist is on the pod today to share his journey to celebrity styling, from applying hair extensions on his older sisters as a tween to creating iconic hairstyles for Olivia Rodrigo, Elizabeth Olsen, Ali Wong, Dove Cameron, and Jennifer Coolidge. Clayton shares the styles he thinks are going to be big in 2024 (ombrés are BACK, babes!) and the tools and products he thinks are absolutely necessary to have in your hair wardrobe. He also gives great advice for up-and-coming hairstylists on how to break into the business (frequent trips to Naimie's and a lot of persistence) and the five things he would never do as a hairstylist. John Tobin saw a show at Nick's Comedy Stop in Boston in 1986 and his life has been running comedy venues ever since. “Look at him. He's Adorable” – John's aunt at his first hosting gig! Sure … Boston City Council for Boston's 6tth District (2002-2010) and has been VP of Community Affairs at North Eastern Univ. since 2010 … but really … he's never NOT been a key figure in the Boston comedy scene, which IS the great greatest comedy scene in the world. Graduation Summa Cum Laude from the School Of Dick Doherty (and … AND … The Connecticut School Of Broadcasting) John learned how to run shows, treat people and maybe NOT pay comics using your own made up currency that they can then mimeograph! (Long live the 3 Dollar Dick Bucks) From Boston legend Don Gavin to International rock star comic Bill Burr … If you told a joke in Boston in the last 35+ years, you told it at a club or show that John was producing. A co-founder of the Boston Comedy Festival in 2000 to the new Boston Comedy Awards he started this year, John never stops creating new ways to help grow the scene. John takes pride and how more and more inclusive the Boston comedy scene is, showcasing more female comics, more comics who are POC and part of the LGBTQ1A+ community. We've been so lucky to have some many hilarious comics on the podcast … none where funnier or hand better BTS comedy stories then John. There nothing better than live comedy. And today we sit with someone who's found a way to separate himself in the crowded space of comedy as one of the younger, more successful entertainers of this generation. Desi Banks joins The Pivot to share his journey with Ryan, Fred and Channing about his rise to fame, staying true to his purpose, and how stand-up comedy changed his life forever. Growing up and being raised by his grandma in the Eastside of Atlanta, everyone around Desi knew his calling was comedy despite his passion and a dream of playing professional football but when football didn't work out as planned, the setback led him to find his true purpose. Desi shares a candid moment and calls his mother during our conversation for her to confirm the story he's telling about while she was pregnant with him, he would kick nonstop when he heard the Arsenio Hall show on tv and would happen often like clockwork. Desi's grandmother always said the white noise most kids listen to was not for him but if she ever needed to settle him her goto would be putting on the Martin Lawrence show to soothe him. Starting his career off by becoming well-known for his comical skits on social media, Desi recalls the time where his first video went viral in 2012 on Vine and since then, he has amassed millions of followers across all social media platforms and successfully turned his life experiences into a million-dollar business. Although everyone around Desi saw the gift he had of comedy, he had other things in mind for what he wanted his future to look like. With aspirations of becoming an NFL player, Desi played the WR position at Morehead State and Georgia State. Post-graduation all Desi had was a job at Smoothie King, his phone, and a crisp lining haircut. His girlfriend at the time, didn't believe in his comedic calling and kicked him out which turned out to be his pivotal moment as he moved in with his grandmother again and found a gun wrapper that captivated him by the saying which in turn became his mantra and later a lifetime of making others laugh while touring the world. Opening up about his relationship with God and how he's kept purpose as the guide of his journey, Desi talks about believing he was born to spread light to others and he's continuing to put in the work to elevate as a comedian. In clear violation of FC2.0 protocols, David brought a pre-meditated agenda to this podcast episode. But — as is common — the cultural norms we've established were able to triumph over the Funny Guy's wily attempts to manipulate the program. Longtime listeners will note the familiar pattern. One of us says something…anything…to grab the other's attention. We launch into a curious probe and get ridiculous. Our wondering today hung on some Hoosier colloquialisms that don't make sense. But those long in the tooth will probably giggle with us.
Jake sits down with comedian and promoter, Anthony Morelli to talk about comedy dreams, the art of putting on a show, and the best sitcoms. Follow for all things comedy on insta @offconstantlycomedy
Journey, if you dare [insert chilling cackle here], into the mind of the "obnoxious Pats fan" on this episode of Untold Patriots Stories. Scott & Dave enter the world of Sh*t Pats Fans Say with its star, Georgie Kip. This is a departure from our usual podcast as we may have turned down the information a bit but we've dialed the laughs up to 11.Georgie talks about his good friends Fitzy and Jerry Thornton. We discuss Georgie and Fitzy's recent beer launch party, Pats & Pints (to benefit Boston's Children's Hospital), where Sh*t Pats Fans Drink was unveiled.Between yucks, we touch on a number of other topics including the Pats cuts, the spectacle that was Cam Newton, Georgie's conversation with Gronk, who are his favorite post-Brady Patriots, what sparked his interest in '80 for Brady', and what Pats are friends of their show. You also hear behind-the-scenes of Sh*t Pats Fans Say and a few gems about Fitzy.Your sides are gonna hurt after this one!

Hi Smooches! This is Liz, and you're listening to Make Out Already. On today's episode, we're recapping “Funny Guy” by Emma Barry. It is a delicious slow burn contemporary about a famous comedian hiding out at his lifelong best friend's apartment after his pop star ex writes an unflattering song about him. What he doesn't know is his bestie has been in love with him for years, and has recently been scheming how to get away from New York and her unrequited love. Friends to lovers can be a tricky trope, but Barry handles it beautifully. Spoilers ahead. Exciting news on the author front. Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Barney Abramson. Barney Abramson's creative journey began in the Dominican Republic staying indoors and drawing his favorite 80s cartoons all day long. That creative passion grew into a fruitful career and he went on to become an award-winning designer. In addition to his day job, Barney consults as a creative director, strategist, and manager. He helps businesses and individuals with their creative problems. When he's not designing, he's writing about his experiences as an Afro-Latino creative in corporate America. He uses social media to connect, mentor, teach, and inspire the next generation of designers. This week, Barney discusses his life after immigrating to the US as a child, attempting to assimilate into mostly white neighborhoods, and how that affected his confidence as a young professional. Barney admits that he would take on a Funny Guy persona to seem more palatable to his white coworkers. However, even though he was accepted as the funny guy, he still felt a distance between himself and his peers. It wasn't until he started undoing past traumas that he became more comfortable in his own skin - even at work. Follow Barney: Website: www.barneyabramson.com Instagram - @barneyabramson01 Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/plurawl/ Keep up with the podcast: Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/quientueres/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/quientueres/support Post-production for this episode was provided by CCST, a podcast production company. ~ Barney's creative journey began on a little island in the Caribbean. While the other kids were flying kites and playing baseball, he was alone in his room drawing his favorite 80s cartoons. That creative passion grew into a fruitful career and he went on to become an award-winning designer. In many ways, Barney is living proof that, despite its shortcomings, the American dream is still alive and well. Barney Abramson was born in the Dominican Republic and was raised there until the age of ten. His family migrated to the United States in the late 80s, eventually settling in Lawrence, MA, a small immigrant town located a few miles north of Boston. In 2002, Barney graduated from Bridgewater State University with a dual Bachelor of Fine Arts and Corporate Communication degree. Since then, he's worked as a graphic designer and, most recently, as a creative manager in the wonderful city of Las Vegas. In addition to his day job, he consults as a creative director, strategist, and manager. He helps businesses and individuals with creative problems. NOTHING says love like the gift of laughter … so as a Valentine Present to our listener … no “s” … Biff and Jacques talk to funny guy, stand-up comic Mike DuPont. Jacques met Mike a few months back on the harsh open mic circuit. Mike's comedy and personality stood out. He's genuinely someone Jacques is always happy to see perform at the same hole in wall bar on a school night! Mike had a colorful path to comedy that shapes his humor in all the best ways. Mike gave us a couple of Jacques favorite bits of his to start and end the episode! Mike is quickly making a name for himself in the very competitive, densely (over) populated New England comedy scene. Jacques thinks we could see a half hour – 45 minute special from Mike sometime in 2023!
