In the latest episode of the Afrocentric podcast, "Freestyle 3: Get Your House in Order," host Morgan Gray tackles several pressing issues affecting the Black community. The episode focuses on three main topics: preparing for life after the election, the potential for political violence post-election, and the complex issues of self-hate among Black people and violence towards Black people in Great Britain. Morgan begins by discussing the importance of being prepared for various scenarios that could unfold after the election. She emphasizes the need for community organization, resource sharing, and having contingency plans in place, regardless of the election outcome. The conversation then shifts to the concerning possibility of political violence in the aftermath of the election. Morgan explores historical precedents and current societal tensions that could contribute to such unrest. She offers insights on how the Black community can protect itself and maintain solidarity during potentially turbulent times. A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to addressing the issue of self-hate among Black men. Morgan delves into the root causes of this phenomenon, examining how systemic racism, media portrayals, and internalized oppression contribute to negative self-perception within the Black male community. She discusses strategies for combating these harmful mindsets and promoting self-love and empowerment. Lastly, the podcast touches on the alarming trend of violence towards Black people in Great Britain. Morgan provides context for this issue, drawing parallels between the experiences of Black communities in the UK and the US. She highlights the importance of global Black solidarity and shares resources for supporting anti-racism efforts in Britain. Throughout the episode, Morgan maintains her signature approach of combining historical context, personal insights, and practical advice. She encourages listeners to stay informed, engaged, and proactive in addressing these challenges, emphasizing the importance of community strength and individual growth in navigating uncertain times.

Buckingham Palace's East Wing has opened up to visitors for the first time in 2024. St James's Palace did so at the tail end of 2023. Even Balmoral — a royal residence privately owned by the Windsors, rather than part of the holdings of the Crown — has opened up its doors, something which would have been unimaginable during the lifetime of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Why has it happened, and what can it tell us about the Monarcy today? The Republicans are telling us their plans for America's future and it is terrifying. The Democrats, in contrast, are vocally offering the opposite. Where the last Democratic House was the most effective in modern American history, passing more legislation passed than any Congress since FDR's New Deal, the current Republican House has been the least effective, least cohesive since the Civil War. The American people deserve better than obstructionists playing games with our time and money. We are joined today by Minority Whip Katherine Clark, to hear an insider perspective on the 118th Congress and why returning power to the grown ups in the room in so essential to the success of our nation. As we move towards the end of the year, we're looking over checklists for items that need some attention, and while it's not specific year-end planning, now is a great time to address your estate plan. The fact is only 33% of Americans have an estate plan and only 43% have a will. Those numbers might be shocking, but the reality is many people just aren't giving this critical piece of planning enough attention. So as you get things in order for the end of the year, let's spend some time talking about why you need an estate plan. Here's some of what we discuss in this episode: What does a financial will do as opposed to a power of attorney and living will. The role the power of attorney plays and why it's arguably the most important document when you are living. The five different types of power of attorneys and what they cover. What happens if you get sick or disabled without a power of attorney? The purpose of the living will and the purpose of the last will and testament. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. Today we are joined by Deanna Yates, founder, and CEO of Wannabe Clutter Free. Physical clutter and mental clutter definitely tie in with one another. When your environment is full of items, it can be more challenging to get motivated or stick with the healthy habits you want. Deanna gives excellent tips and tricks on how to get started with organizing your home and how to simplify the items in your house, from your pantry to your closet and your entryway to your nightstand. Tune in to learn how to get your house in order so you can be the better version of yourself.IN THIS EPISODE:● [4:07] How did Deanna start her business, Wannabe Clutter Free?● [6:37] What are her thoughts on The Home Edit and Marie Condo? ● [11:27] Jenn's story about getting organized and how it changed her food decisions.● [12:40] How does clearing the clutter affect our mental clarity? ● [16:27] Deanna's 3-step process to start decluttering.● [20:02] Where should you begin with decluttering? ● [25:55] How does Deanna help people through a wardrobe closet cleanout?● [27:30] How to create a “module wardrobe” - 12 pieces, 72 outfits.● [32:36] What are some of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to live minimally?● [36:20] How does changing your environment create behavior change? KEY TAKEAWAYS:● Take 15 minutes, choose a room and use these three things: 1. Grab a plastic bag and fill it with garbage. 2. Put things you want to donate into a box. 3. Anything you have in your house that you want to keep but doesn't belong in the room it's currently in, put them in a laundry basket so you can concentrate on the one space. Then put away the items in the laundry basket when the 15 minutes are up. ● When decluttering, think about what you can implement to make each space feel good and be the most productive for its purpose. ● Don't try to overhaul your house all at once; it gets to be too much. Just take one small space at a time and go from there. Not only will it feel more doable, but you will also start creating great habits over time.QUOTES: “If we can remove the excess, or tidy up, or clean up, it's also a freeing of the mind. The physical space helps with the mental space.” - Jenn Trepeck “It's not about not having stuff. It's about using your stuff to help you, using your stuff as tools.” - Deanna Yates“Clothes are one of those things that can be very emotional because the experience we have when wearing those clothes then stays with those clothes.” - Deanna Yates“So I think those kinds of things as we can set those little baby steps up. Then again, it all comes back to that mental clarity where it frees us up to be the better versions of ourselves. It frees us up to have a moment of, okay, things don't have to be such a panic. I don't have to be in such a rush.” - Deanna YatesRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramGUEST RESOURCES: Wannabe Clutter Free WebsitePodcast for Aspiring MinimalistsWannabe Clutter Free InstagramWannabe Clutter Free PinterestWannabe Clutter Free FacebookGUEST BIO:Deanna Yates is the founder and CEO of Wannabe Clutter Free and host of the popular podcast, Wannabe Minimalist. In this episode I will respond to a listener question "Why are women so desperate for love and Why aren't men fulfilling that need?" There are several items to address with this question. First, a man or a woman who have spiritual unity with God are going to be fulfilled independent of their spouse. Second, the world today has it backwards with how God designed the relationship between a man and a women with respect to authority and headship. The world will accept the authority of a boss in the work place. Just because someone has the title of "boss" doesn't give them the right to abuse the relationship with subordinates. This is no different than how God designed the authority in a home. People will accept a hierarchy of authority in the world, but are resistant to it in the home. Why? Even among self professing Christians, they will accept the authority of Jesus Christ being their Lord or Master, with when God commands the same relationship in the home; many will reject the command of God. In this episode we will look both at individual short comings of both the man and the women and address the cause. We will also look at what God says about His expectations which are addressed in both the Old and New Testament. I pray this will be a blessing to you.Passages Covered: Genesis 2:18-25, 3:4-19; 1 Corinthians 11:2-12; 1 Timothy ch2, 4:7-9; 1 Peter 3:1-12; James 1:19-26, ch 3; 4:5-10
