How can food and collaboration help build healthier communities? City Fresh Foods President and Founder and Foundation for Business Equity Executive Director Glynn Lloyd and PAGU chef Tracy Chang chat with Billy Shore in Boston about how and why community is a central tenet of their respective organizations. “It’s an ecosystem community approach to really help support an entrepreneurial class that’s necessary for their communities,” Lloyd explains about the Business Equity Initiative, which provides advisors, infrastructure subsidies and growth capital to help grow black- and Latino-owned businesses. Community is also central to Chang’s view of her restaurant. “We want to be here for the long run, so that means we need to listen to our community and be actively involved, and really take to heart the feedback we receive,” she says. Both guests discuss the leadership qualities that are most important to achieve their goals. “You have to be open to doing anything and everything, and that requires a lot of positive thinking… I’m ready to receive anyone with a negative mood and turn that around,” explains Chang. Lloyd practices what he calls deep listening as a way to motivate people. “Do you really understand the world around you, the people you’re working with, what motivates them, and then put that back into where you’re going as an organization?,” he asks. Seamos escépticos o no, todos sabemos de la existencia de las llamadas teorías de la conspiración. En este episodio el "dream team" volvió a estar completo y también tuvimos de invitado a Homero Molestina, productor audiovisual y amigo de Guchi, con quien hablamos de algunas teorías comprobadas, que hasta hace pocos años parecían simples absurdos, y de otras que aún clasifican como "paranoia colectiva". Nos explicó de qué se trata exactamente y, para que no quede ninguna duda, hicimos un pequeño ejercicio durante la grabación de este episodio. Hablamos de la psicóloga deportiva, que es en lo que se especializa Liza y de una que otra teoría sobre el Crossfit. Además, descubrimos que Guchi es una mujer de muchas caras... antiguas... y la hicimos "meme".

Cynthia y Guchi han dicho varias veces que les gusta bailar, así que en este episodio tuvimos de invitada a Carolina Pepper, que además de ser bailarina contemporánea también es periodista y ha trabajado en distintas radios como conductora de programas musicales. Ahora ella vive en Agentina, donde continúa sus estudios de danza, y nos acompañó en su último día de vacaciones por Guayaquil. Hablamos de la relación amor-odio (sobre todo odio) que tenemos con los taxistas de esta ciudad y, como ya es costumbre, recordamos aquellas épocas retro cuando leíamos revistas para adolescentes y cumplíamos sus consejos al pie de la letra. Además confrontamos de una vez los mitos del "ya mismo llego" y "aquisito nomás", medidas de tiempo y espacio que solo existen en Ecuador.

La famosa y temida "friendzone" es el tema principal de este nuevo episodio de las tres. En otras palabras, hablamos del mejor conocido "cárgame las puertas" (y de todos su derivados) hasta llegar a los también famosos amigos con derechos. Esta situación, que afecta a hombres y mujeres por igual, puede llevarnos a cometer los actos más absurdos, cursis, psicópatas y también asquerosos... Tal es el caso de la receta de la "agüita de calzón" que Guchi leyó en un diario local y que explica paso a paso aquí. La sección de consejos de Guchi sigue en pie y estamos seguras de que después de oír este episodio 24 van a entender por qué ella es la persona indicada para cumplir esta misión.

Tenemos en este episodio de invitada a alguien que posiblemente ya conozcas: Martha Pine. Decimos esto porque Martha se dedica a las relaciones públicas desde hace más de 10 años y ha trabajado con artistas famosos y no tan famosos, en conciertos, campeonatos de surf y conferencias de todo tipo. Ella comenzó en la televisión, luego le gustó más la radio, pero finalmente se dio cuenta de que lo suyo era estar detrás de cámaras, donde se cocina todo. Hablamos de la decadencia musical y Guchi recordó su mala experiencia viendo a Roxette, también cometamos sobre el reciente concierto de las Flans al que ninguna fue, porque "era mejor ahorrar ese billete". Por otro lado, y en esto vamos a necesitar mucho de la ayuda de nuestros oyentes, desde el próximo episodio tenemos planeado lanzar una sección. Todo esto en el programa 23 de Apología del Ocio.

¿Qué tienen en común Vannia y Enrique Iglesias? En este episodio lo descubrimos... y también que al "guilty pleasure" hay que superarlo o mejor dicho disfrutarlo sin culpas, porque a veces aunque uno corra y se esconda, simplemente, no puede escapar. Guchi habló de su teoría sobre ella misma: "negro y rosado", o de cómo puede oír boleros y Metallica sin discriminar ninguno de sus dos aspectos. Cynthia, por otro lado, casi no habló en este programa, salvo para analizar-rayar a Shakira y finalmente hacer una magistral interpretación de "One More Chance" de Julio Iglesias jr.

Mientras estábamos grabando un nuevo episodio de las tres recibimos la inesperada visita de Jimmy Sánchez, un experto en "hablar huevadas" como él mismo dice, y amigo de la vida de Guchi y Vannia. Jimmy descubrió un poco tarde la letra de Sopa de Caracol y todos descubrimos aquí que no conocíamos el significado exacto de la palabra "Cunnilingus", ignorancia que desembocó en la creación de un nuevo posible hit del reguetón: El Cunnilinguero. A Jimmy le gusta actuar por naturaleza (lo notarán aquí), y hace unos años encarnó a Dion, un peluquero loco, en este videoclip dirigido por Vannia para un concurso de la banda A Place To Bury Strangers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csdU2NfdWRw. Fantasmas, Ovnis, fans de Michael Bolton y de Laura Pausini,son algunos de los temas de los que hablamos en este episodio de las tres junto a un invitado que se nos robó el show.

Como nos gustó la aventura de lanzarnos al aire sin invitado, de ahora en adelante les traeremos episodios "solo de las tres" más seguido. Esta vez la conversación comenzó con la ruleta sexual colombiana, lo que para muchos es más un "hoax" que una noticia (digna del Mundo Today o de algún diario especializado en la parodia). Después de analizar nuestra propia ruleta, la novatada de la U. Católica, entre refranes y dichos de antaño, surgió el tema del satélite Pegaso, al que le hacemos una apología en medio de tanto bullying en redes sociales. A la que sí le hicimos bullying fue a la canción Todos Somos Pegaso, de nuestro eterno cantante juvenil, AU-D.

Matar a un corrupto ya no va a ser imposible gracias a la ficción de María Emilia García, directora de la película La Descorrupción. María Emilia, también guionista y productora del proyecto, no necesita explicarnos de dónde salió su inspiración para tratar este tema conocido por todos, que resulta tan interesante como el mismo proceso de elaboración de su primer largometraje de bajo presupuesto. La mayor parte del financiamiento vendrá de la campaña de Crowdfunding para la película, que se lanzó la semana pasada, y con la que todos podemos colaborar para ser un "desollador de ministros", por ejemplo. Guchi no pudo participar esta vez, pero públicamente ofrece disculpas a sus fans. Nosotras le pusimos una multa que sabemos que después de este episodio va a cumplir sin reclamos.

Son seis meses de Apología del Ocio y con este ya 13 los episodios de divertirlos, en el mejor de los casos, o aburrirlos en el peor. Esta vez decidimos hablar solo las tres porque, entre otras cosas, no estamos tan seguras de que nos tengan identificadas. Pero esto no fue un episodio para conversar de nuestras vidas, ni de lo que hacemos; hablamos de otros podcast,de actrices porno que animan otros podcast, de artistas que casan con actrices porno, etc. En resumen, un episodio que es un apología a la indiscreción.

En este sexto episodio de Apología del Ocio (ya notarán que parece grabado en centro comercial gracias a la música del vecino) tenemos de invitada a Fernanda Torres. Ella divide su tiempo entre el marketing y Sansaru, una tienda que abrió recientemente en Guayaquil, donde comercializa ropa, accesorios y objetos decorativos hechos por diseñadores locales. Aprovechando la voz de locutora profesional de nuestra invitada, grabamos la primera cortinilla del programa con un cover particularmente absurdo del único hit de la banda 4 Non Blondes, "What's Up?".
