Hasko Baumann ist 1970 in Celle geboren, aufgewachsen in Burgdorf bei Hannover. Seit kurz vor der Jahrtausendwende macht er Fernsehen in Berlin. Etwa für Sat 1 – und gerne Beiträge über Musiker*innen von Jennifer Lopez bis Wolfsheim. Ab Ende 2002 und bis Ende 2012 produziert er eine Dekade lang das deutsch-französische Magazin „Durch die Nacht mit“, was ihm 2006 den Grimme-Preis für Regie beschert. Ab 2012 macht er „Durch die Nacht mit“ nur noch sporadisch – dafür widmet er sich anderen Projekten wie etwa der Pilotfolge „Hotel Bela“, in der Die-Ärzte-Schlagzeuger Bela B durch die Sendung führt und auf Zombie-Regisseur George A. Romero trifft. 2013 wird er Redaktionsleiter bei Sarah Kuttners Magazin „Bambule“ auf ZDF Neo und wir für den Grimme Preis im Rahmen von Kuttners Talkshow „Plus Zwei“ nominiert. Baumann realisiert ab 2014 immer neue Formate. Die Arte-Doku „Das Donald Duck Prinzip“, „Offline“ mit Palina Rojinski für Pro7, „Beef - Für Männer mit Geschmack“ für RTL Nitro, die Doku „Kuba - Auf zu neuen Ufern“, dann über drei Jahre lang für den österreichischen Sender Servus TV das Format „Die besten Köche der Welt“, danach „9 out of 10“ eine Doku über Morde in Island, anschließend eines seiner großen Herzensprojekte. „Real Men“ für Arte. In der stilvollen Doku gewähren männliche Leinwandhelden private Einblicke – und erörtern den Mythos der Männlichkeit. Seit 2019 widmet sich Baumann den Kochsendungen „Kitchen Impossible“ und „Mälzer vs Henssler“.

Die Wahl von Thomas Kemmerich zum thüringischen Ministerpräsidenten sei ein taktischer Schachzug von AfD, CDU und FDP gewesen, so der Theatermacher Hasko Weber in SWR2. Jede Verfassung habe Lücken, in die „mit negativer Energie” reingegangen werden könne. Dass dies jetzt vermehrt passiere, sei auffällig. Solche Möglichkeiten müsse man ins politische Kalkül ziehen und sich vorbereiten. Es bedürfe nun einer „fundamentalen gesellschaftlichen Äußerung” als eine Art Gegenzeichen gegen die gestärkten rechten Kräfte im Land. Hasko Weber ist Generalintendant des Deutschen Nationaltheaters Weimar. Er hat einen offenen Brief an Thomas Kemmerich unterzeichnet, in dem der thüringische Ministerpräsident dazu aufgefordert wird, sich für Neuwahlen in Thüringen einzusetzen. Es ist ein offener Brief von Unterzeichnenden der Thüringer Erklärung „Die Vielen”.
